think of something you really enjoy doing and go do that for a while (watching movies, playing games, etc...)... also, as Downward said go out and get some sun...

I think it is normal to feel like shit every now and then for a day or so ... it may be due to stress so try to do something that relaxes you and unplugs you from the world :P

cheer up... this is pne of the most hated years I've been thru because of people.
Since my problem is beyond my control (eventualy beyond me) I find comfort knowing that I'm not alone...
so cheer up. You're not alone.

Are you sitting at home a lot? If you do, you should go out more. It may sound like a cliche but being around people takes your mind off everything else and sitting at home makes your brain think 24/7. You can also try exercising - it releases something in the brain (don't remember the name) which basically make you happy for a while. If it's been happening for a while and it's serious you should consider seeing a psychologist - I know many people say "oh, what do they know" or "they won't tell me anything I don't already know" and such opinions are BS. They are miracle workers for people's minds and denying going to one if things are serious it's like denying oneself medicine. I have to say though - not every psychologist is good so seeing a few wouldn't hurt. Of course only if your condition is rather serious cause if you just feel like "under the weather" for a couple of days and then shake it off then you probably shouldn't worry about going to a psychologist.

I really don't know what exactly to advise cause you are very vague in terms of description. You say "depressed" but it may mean many, many things. If you wanna talk just add me on Steam and I can help you out more.

Probably the best answer here IMHO. Was about to post almost the same thing.

Speaking as someone who's struggled with depression a lot in the past -- lots of exercise, healthy eating, plenty of sleep, hanging out with friends and family (surround yourself with good people), staying active to occupy your mind & body, and sunshine are probably the best "cures" for depression. I even went so far as to get a small dog, and that worked absolute wonders for my depression. :)

If those don't work, definitely a psychologist, like you said. :)

Great post as well :) Getting an animal is also a very good advice. I think dog is the best cause it shows affection the most and in the most amazing way.

Thanks mate, yeah exercising releases Endorphins if I remember right which will make us happy in simplest terms I guess and yeah I joined a gym a month or so ago and been doing that regularly and it helps a lot.

Dont give into it, hang in there, you are your best ally, theres always another day, NEVER GIVE UP!
Depression is something you learn to deal with and learn to live with, if you feel its overwhelming go see a doctor and he will give you something for it!
Give it time, you CAN do it ;)

I know I'm a bit late here, but I just want to say this;

OP, add me and talk if you want.

Seriously, I'd be happy if you'd do it. I know how depression can suck, and I can't stand just being here and seeing someone go through this. I also know that talking with someone, about pretty much anything and everything, will help. Even if only a little bit, I know you can "forget" your depression for a short moment. So please, Thilna, feel free to add me! I may not be a very talkative person and I don't always have lots of free time, but I can listen.

If you don't add me, then all I can do is ask you to stay strong. There are good chances that this is only temporarily and you'll get better soon, so just take care until then.

Yeah, I get "feel like shit" waves once in a while too.
My most recent one is happens to be right now.
I call them "depression waves", hits me once in a while lasts for a random amount of time. Could be a day, could be month, who knows.
During these times (even though it's important to talk to people), I still crawl under my rock and don't talk to anyone.
Even though I'm happy, I'm healthy, and there's nothing bad happening in my life, it's still hard to shake the feeling.
It's probably because I feel like I'm not doing anything productive in my life and spending too much time playing games.
Everything turns out fine in the end though, so nowadays I just deal with it and wait until it blows over.

We all love you :D
Honestly I understand you because this happends to me quite often. And again, if you want to talk to someone about it I'd be also glad to help you as much as I can. Because hate this feeling myself and don't want someone to suffer from it.
Your giveaways are great, as well as you! And look, how many people are here to make you happy :з

Depression is really tough, but thank you for talking about it - it's a help to know that others are going through similar things. I've spent a lot of time struggling with depression, and while some things can help (talking, medication, training to help cope with difficult thoughts) it can still feel like a long climb uphill :P I hope you feel a bit better sharing stuff with the community and being part of SG. Its good to know we can cheer up someone else with a visit from the space cat, even when we feel crap.

i'm here for you :) i've been going through a lot of depression too ... and what helps me the most is going to the gym and browsing SG and mindlessly strolling the streets. It's not as easy as "just smile," D: wishing you strength and support through the hard times!

Just passing through to say take things easy and I hope your mood improves. Too often we all have down moments and sometimes we can't share that burden with anyone. It is nice to know that in sgifts there are those who care and wish well on others. :)

Thanks for the GAs & Ayubowan :) I truely hope you feel better soon. I lived and worked in Sri Lanka for 2.5 years about 10 years ago and have fond memories of Kandy, where I visited several times. It certainly is a wonderful part of the world and the setting with the lake makes it one of the most memorable places I've visted. I still have a Sri Lankan cricket shirt I bought at the market in the center of the town :)

I really hope you can find something to do to help you get out of this string of depression. Whether it be something your passionate about already, or something entirely new that you have never tried before (like, perhaps, geocaching. It's a fun activity that helps get your mind off things while also getting sun and exercise through hiking)
Hugs

I struggle with depression as well from time to time, everyone handle it differntly, in my case I usually like to stay alone for a bit or to post in a forum, even a "hang in there" works, so I hope you the best, I'm sure you'll get through it!
