I know germany proposed banning loot boxes in gaming some months ago, maybe that went into effect and loot boxes containing games were also included/waiting for legal team to give OK?

Yeah for sure they are banning everything related to gambling step by step over the last decade, but i wouldnt expect they will even take away from me mystery bundles :P

wait, shouldn't it be banned in the Netherlands and Belgium then too?
I know Lost Ark is banned there, because of loot boxes

no idea, I don't keep up with international politics, just whatever shows up in tech news occasionally. New Zealand is a slight exception because it affects Path of Exile.

hell... I don't even keep up with local stuff enough... I found out Texas implemented that stupid ID stuff for adult sites and Fun Hub(and others) is now blocking their service here... learned this a month+ after it happened and I live here lol.

PoE ain't banned in NL and BE. Lost Ark wasn't banned, they only region locked themselves for a while. But that's now available too.

I just remember people from NL and BE constantly complained on Alienware, when LA or PoE were a Steam Quest

well, maybe i mixed up people from NZ complaining about PoE with people from NL and BE complaining about LA.
Maybe i mixed it up completely and people were from somewhere else, but there were definitely people complaining about those 2 games

CS isn't banned in NL, but opening CS lootboxes is. I can buy cases and keys, but not open them. Maybe it's something like that? Note: I know nothing about LA/PoE, so perhaps this makes 0 sense xD

Loot boxe are not banned in Germany, so it must have some other reason.
Possibly a banned game or a lack of age declaration in a title.
Edit:
A bundle is viewable for me (in Germany) but I didn't compare the titles.

I think this is due to the ratings law and not loot boxes. As I see it, they can't guarantee if any of the games obtained won't have a rating etc etc.
That's my best guess. We'll see if they announce anything new

It makes sense if the bundle has a game banned in Germany but this is not the case it seems.

I have been getting many times in past Quake 4 (banned in Germany) and Rubber thieves (banned in Russia) and Fanatical haven't cared, so it would be unusual they stopped sell it for it.

Yeah I thought so. Maybe they just don't sell the game only where it's banned (kinda makes sense), though they still might since people use those keys for giveaways, the person who bought doesn't have to use it for themself anyway.

Edit: It seems they indeed don't sell those games where they're banned.

Germany had their own game pool without any banned games.

Huh, that's actually very nice of them. Though that means you cannot buy them for giveaways too I guess.

Yeah actually i tried it.
Default it was US and to buy the bundle i would have to fill out some stuff about taxes etc, so then i switched to europe but it was UK so i was able to buy it with PayPal, but cuz of the conversion i would have to pay like 20% more

Honestly good for me, I needed that. But, like, Fanatical shouldn't offer them, a country shouldn't need to ban them. I'll happily buy certain overdone leftover keys for 1$ each, just gimme the choice. But I'd also like to have the choice to buy the mystery bundle (I love gambling). ;w;

Well, mystery bundles are a type of gambling. So it's understandable that Fanatical would choose to err on the side of caution. Or maybe they even received some sort of cease and desist order from German authorities.

German here.
Lootboxes are not banned in Germany up to this day. It is discussed and there is indeed a big possibility that they will be banned in the future, but there is no ban in place as of right now.

Edit: Just checked. Even the two weeks old Mystery Bundle will not activate in Germany or, to be more precise, if you visit Fanatical with a german IP (see screenshots).

So either it is a different reason or Fanatical has insider information that the ban will be instated in the next weeks and has already prepared its website for this.

Now other countries need to follow suit. Not worried about Fanatical, they'll still have people to trigger in quite a few countries.
