So, here's the thing. A few months ago I won Batman: Arkham Assylum GOTY here, I got a key promptly, marked it as received, no issues.

Today I log on and Steam hits me in the face with this:

"Steam Support Alert for (username removed) - 17 September
A Steam Product code you activated has been removed from your account.

12 Jun
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY
Your recent Product code activation has been revoked due to a problem processing payment for this item. The games associated with this product code can no longer be played as a result. This could be due a problem with the payment methods you used to acquire this item from a third-party seller; or a problem with how the third-party seller acquired the Product code. Please contact the seller you acquired the Product code from for assistance.

If you would like to purchase the item, please visit the Steam Store. Otherwise you may choose to delete the local content associated with these games."

What's the proper procedure to follow here on the site, if anything?

Contact the giveaway creator and mark it as not received. (because it's not in your inventory right now, if you have it marked as received and someone digs around and reports you, might result in suspension).

You can contact the creator and let him know, maybe its a mistake and something he got from a trade, but just mark it as not received.

"Contact the seller" . . . or in this case the gifter. Remember to mark it as not received until resolved. If it isn't resolved, treat it as any not-received win.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll mark it as not received and try letting the guy who originally did the giveaway know.

Whatever they say, only mark it as received again once the game is (re)activated on your account. Otherwise, it will appear as a non-activated win and can get you suspended here.
