Just to give anyone with a UPlay account a heads up, usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords have been stolen from Ubisoft's Uplay system.

Good times, rolling here...

Gah! I searched for Ubisoft and Uplay. It never occurred to me to look for "UbiFail"!

Yeah, I wouldn't close this thread mainly because it has a much better and easier to find title, and the OP actually has information it it. I just couldn't resist.

Received an e-mail to change my password earlier today. I didn't even remember my old one but thankfully it wasn't needed.

Hmm, trying to remember, believe the only ubisoft thing I have was for that free games proxy party, think I called myself the United Kingdom's ambassador to Spain... :)

I received an e mail from Ubi hours ago saying they are trying to restore the integrity of any compromised systems. In that e mail, there is a link that I can create a new password of my uplay account. I just wonder if it is true that all uplay users have received the same email...

It's from them and you can easily verify that by the link it points you to.. It sends to a ubi.com and not some hijack site trying to fool you.

Alright, seems like every tech company gets to have this happen to them and not die off. Shit happens.

But, can I now have Steam keys for all my Uplay games? NOW, so that when they fail again, I can continue to count on Steam as my one true acceptable DRM.

People like to complain so much.. this has happened times and times again to different companies. What have you lost ? nothing.. change your password and that's it. What can those hacker get out of having your login name and real name ?

Some people aren't very creative and use a single password for everything. Aside from the obvious implications of this, these people would be well advised to change their login details for this and any other accounts using the same password.

I was simply giving people a heads up, so that they were aware of the situation and could act accordingly. It wasn't an invitation to be an apologist ballbag, although apparently that's how you interpreted it.

Idiot.

lol calling me an idiot for that.. the idiot is whoever would use the same password everywhere and complain about it afterwards. Ubisoft already gave the heads-up to the people that had been affected by sending e-mails to everyone on that breached database.

If you don't want people with different views and opinions than yours commenting then don't post threads. If I was like you I guess I should be calling you a moron now..

I got an email about this, but it went straight to my spam folder, so I figured it was just more phishing attempts. Fortunately, my UPlay password was unique and the only thing on the account was Far Cry: BD from a code I redeemed (no credit card on the account).

Given enough time, every company's system gets hacked. They're lucrative targets.
