Well, I have been hearing a lot of this quote: "Time is money."; so I seeing if you guys would actually want to sell your time. Let's hear the responses. Try being detailed as much as possible.

You can or can not consider this ratio in your post: 100k dollars for a year of time.

I would sell 1 year. Life is short anyway, what's another year. 100k would make my life better atm. I live in the present, not thinking about how I would day a year earlier. I don't work nor will I ever, so the money would be nice.

And then it turned out you only had 1 year left to live, and you sold it all for a 100k funeral.. :P

selling time is already a thing, its functionally identical to "job"

If we could buy time, then yes. It would give more incentive to me to get a good job and work hard, since I'm afraid of death (stupid, I know). I probably wouldnt sell my time. What if you could just give time to someone? Like will it to someone or give it as a special reward?

wait...If I could sell time I could also steal time! Then I would live forever ^^
Live, so long to some, so short to others.

Time is the only true currency. When you work, they're paying you for your time. When you stop and get fast food you're paying them for their time to save yourself some time. Time is the essence of value.

I would never sell time. We don't have enough time in our lives so we have to live them to their fullest and enjoy every little thing we have, be happy for every new person we meet and remember that our time can end any day and we can't know when the end will come. If I could I would buy more time for myself, my family and my friends.

Don't you spend your time while working for someone else ? Don't you get paid for that ? This video is more about you instead of me.

I would sell time to never work again and do whatever I want with money and time. I would rather live 30 good years than 80 average years. There's so much I could do considering I'll have the motivation, since every new thing I will learn or do will be done because I want to, and only I am in control. Full control over my life would be priceless.

For me, I want to live my entire life so I can experience what will happen in the future.

There was this episode of an old Chinese cartoon in which the main character and his friend both sold their times. After the initial high of being able to go to amusement parks and such, they regretted it and asked for a refund. Of course the refund didn't come easily. Luckily it still happened.

Guess the suicide rate would increase then.

Would it still be called suicide if you have sold or ran out of time ?

If you do it for the sole purpose of dying, then yes. It kinda is, to my eyes at least.

Well, that makes sense. Even so, I really see no point in selling your time, because that would imply knowing how much time you got left. And that is pretty scary. Also, buying time seems like a desperate idea from my point of view.

$100k for a year? Sure. I've wasted years of my life on far less. Hell, I think you get 6mo-1yr for shoplifting these days. (and you can't keep the loot)

i belive that rate would be lower as soon as it started selling @market

I suggest you watch the movie "In Time". It will give you a good view on how that would work and why it's a bad idea.
Plus it's a great movie, so you can't lose with that one... :)

The movie is actually not wellmade...
But the topic has never been done before, iirc, and, like Chippies said, it gives you a good view on this topic :)

As NB264 already mentioned, we already sell our time. So why not take the money without doing the work? I would sell about 10 years to begin with and see how long it lasts. When my time gets much more valuable during that time I'd have to consider rates afterwards (100k/year is about 11.42 per hour which is ok in € considering I wouldn't really have to work for it. And the last 10 years of my life would probably be shitty anyways).

As mathematician I could also earn 100k/year, so If I want I could always buy the time back (or more!) unless the rates change.

Time is an abstract concept created by carbon based life forms to monitor their ongoing decay...

If I could buy time back, then maybe. I'd have to get a good rate, and the market would have to be either stable enough that there's no risk of skyrocketing prices locking me out if I want some time or volatile enough that I could sell high buy low and make a profit. If it was static, buy and sell at 100k per year, I would be tempted to throw a half a year or so in and use that money to do some stuff with it- half a year for college tuition is much better than having to work years to pay off student loans before being able to pursue what you want to do.

Definitely not. I want to live as much as possible with my family because, for me that's where happiness lies. We are not rich, far from it, but I have enough to even have a laptop so I don't think I would need money that much. As long as we have enough money to eat and to pay the bills of the house we don't need more money much less in trade for our time together.
