May I make this into a hug orgy, or a orgy of hugs if you will.

Seems a nice place to drop extra keys. Thank you for some positivity on the site :)

Well, on the topic of leeching (waves), the minimum requirement for account total means the majority of people here should have someway to get games. There are going to be people who got them through other methods though, but those will be rare to have gotten enough games without spending money.
Like me. I doubt all the non gifters on this site only have their games thanks to other friends willing to gift games.

I have really weird friends, and I worry for their sanity...One friend gave me HIB 4 (which came with HIB 3), a friend of that friend gave me Humble Introversion Bundle in a skype chat, and another friend is convinced I'm the coolest person ever, and that I give him good luck (every time I say 'hi' he seems to win at his game); and he has given me maybe a dozen games...Hell, I think I've only bought like 6 games by myself

I'm the weird friend here. As one person has asked me, why do I want more games? I already have hundreds waiting to be played.

Honestly I've only paid for about 5 of my games, and that totaled only about £10 or so (smaller indie games). I'm in a ton of debt and have no money so my mum gave me some to spend during the sales so I was able to buy some. The rest came as gifts (I have a friend who tends to get extra games some way or another, from bundles and such, plus I had a recent birthday), winning them in various places, etc.
I realise I'm just one individual case and everything and that the fact that I've been able to get almost all my games for free doesn't mean other people can. I suppose I'm one of the rare ones you speak of.
I completely forgot my point, just kind of raising my hand and saying "well that applies to me". It does happen (people getting most their games for free), not often, but it does. That's why the "if you have games, clearly you're able to get games and you should get them to giveaway" logic is a bit silly to me.

Oh, I'm not denying there aren't people who will get here without spending, just that saying you can't isn't a excuse that should be usable for most people here. I figure the ones who truly can't do online purchases while still being on this site would be rare. I'm not going to claim people should just because they can buy online, since there are other money issues that could prevent it.
Me, I won't get any way to buy online because the last time I was able to, I stopped it because I got into debt getting everything I wanted.

Leechers - I have no problem with leechers unless they start whining. They have no right to complain about things if they don't contribute.
Individual Bundle Key Givers - Not against the rules, so no big deal. Only frustrating thing is that the list isn't updated.
Contribute Value Abusers - My only real issue with contribute-value abusers are the ones that give beta keys (eg. Guns of Icarus Online) or trial passes.

-1.
People who "don't contribute" have every right to complain. It's not even a bad thing, so long as they're being constructive and helpful. I agree that seeing a "leech" complaining about not getting enough free stuff would irritate anyone, but I've seen a lot of people with legitimately good ideas get shot down because they haven't given away enough, or because their giveaways were bundle games, etc; contributor status should not be considered at all when evaluating someone's position.

Hi! Thanks for making this group. I'm fairly new to the site, and I've noticed a lot of people snooping around, accusing new gifters of fake giveaways, throwing around the word "leecher"... I was surprised that such a generous community could also be so elitist. I'm glad to know there are some folks who just want to spread the fun of gaming. I'm looking forward to getting to know the group :)

I agree 100% on every point, thank you. I'd love to join your group but I won't since I'm not in a position where I'm able to make giveaways right now (basically exactly as you said on your point about leechers - I can't, considering I'm in a ton of debt and have no money whatsoever), just wanted to say I just think it's a nice idea for a group and I agree with everything you're saying.

the community went down the drain in the last couple of months, mostly 'cause this "contributor value"; a lot of elitist people that keep shouting rules over and over again at everyone (most commonly followed by "leecher", "ban" and "not allowed"), and generally ruining the giving spirit that was around here sometime in the past.
I believe your solution (the group) to be the most reasonable one indeed, and maybe the only viable as of now.

We should put aside our prejudice and stereotype, and embrace the spirit of gifting.
(As long as people don't push gifts purchased through credit card fraud...)

Nice concept, and I agree that the bitching against "leechers" and such is annoying, but I think I'll just stick to making public giveaways when I want to give everyone a chance. Most of the rest of the giveaways are for my Facebook page, and people can join that freely too.

Wow, I've got to say thanks to the OP. I'm kind of afraid of the term "leecher", as some people might say I am one because I don't gift anything here. My problem is, I can't. I'm an University student and I can rarely buy games, especially when dollar isn't my local currency, which makes them even more expensive. That's why I prefer to buy retail games, and I've also received most of my games thanks to some friends.

Almost same situation, my friend.
However, games's prices are ridiculously high here. The cheapest game ever is around 60$, so it's better to buy them through Steam.
No excuse for not gifting even Fortix, though. At least I swear I'll make a giveaway if I ever win something.

"Not giving things away at all, for whatever reason. (Commonly called "leeching", it's more often a sign of someone who cannot give games away than a sign of someone who will not.)"
That's totally what I mean when people with 20 wins, 0 giveaways, 500+ game account and 100+ games in inventory for trade get called leechers.
Seriously though, I do realize that in recent months there a lot of people that been trying to be "cool" or whatever by randomly dismissing every thread ever made on every subject ever contemplated with a snarky response about their contribution value.
That doesn't automatically dismiss every accusation as elitist bullshit.
There are plenty of people out there who doesn't give because they CHOOSE not to give. In fact, it's probably the majority of people that doesn't give that choose not to give. Nobody really cares about this. This is a public site, it's to be expected. It's when one of those people start feeling entitled to something that people get their panties in a bunch, and rightly so.
The elitist crowd annoys me almost as much as the hyper-defensive crowd it spawned. You are not being persecuted and the people who rubberstamp every thread with "0 giveaways, topic invalid" without reading anything can be safely dismissed as idiots.

I agree with the main "philosophy" behind this group, I may even enter it, though I'm not one for groups so I'll see about that.

I've noticed a distinct trend for people on this site to basically be total pricks to other people on this site, just because the latter don't give things away like the former think they should. Some of the many reasons people aren't "true gifters" include:
Not giving things away at all, for whatever reason. (Commonly called "leeching", it's more often a sign of someone who cannot give games away than a sign of someone who will not.)
Giving away individual games that just so happened to have been in a bundle at some point. (Remember, this isn't against the rules even if the game did come from a bundle.)
"Abusing" contributor value in one way or another. (Because it's so terrible that someone else managed to get the same score as you did without having to pay as much money.)
Not to mention all of the berating people for breaking the rules (which they probably don't know exist, what with the FAQ being on the opposite end of the site as the account- and giveaway-creation buttons) and making private giveaway groups with steep requirements that exclude pretty much everyone who doesn't have more than enough resources (time, money, or otherwise) to get any games given away by the group anyway.
With this in mind, I have created a group for those who, like me, think that all of this drama is a load of old tosh and just want to give things to people, and maybe receive something every so often in return. Just to clarify: There are no requirements to join or to stay in the group. We know some of you can't afford to give away games, and even if you just don't want to give things away for one reason or another, you can still join; it's not any of our business why you give or don't give. We're in this to be nice, not to be snobs.
Please, no whining about how X group of people I'm defending deserves not to win anything in this topic. We already have enough of that.
