Hi guys! and ladies ;)

I plan on upgrading my toaster to a dishwasher, the problem is i'm not too much of a computer specialist, it's the opposite actually. I don't really know about it... So I was wondering what graphic card or upgrades should i do? I'm not planning on buying anything fancy, since next summer i'll build an other one, a real gaming computer this time. So i just plan on buying something not too expansive but that would allow me to play games with decent framerates with high graphic settings, even on medium i wouldn't really mind since i'll be using it for office work once i get the other one 6 or 8 months later.

So here's what I have at the moment:

OS: Windows 7 (32bits)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G840 @ 2.80Ghz (2CPUs).
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Integrated Graphic card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Display Mode: 1400 x 900 (32bits) 60Hz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technlogy H61M-DS2

If you need anymore information please let me know (and where to find these informations, the ones above i found them on my Dxdiag)

One of my pal said I could upgrade it with a GTX680 or GTX670 + 2 x 8GB Single stick RAM. I'd rather only buy a decent graphic card tho if it's possible. I'm not sure about what he said, since he always go with pretty high stuff about computers. Also how can i know what kind of cards are compatible with my motherboard?

Thanks for you help and time.

What motherboard and PSU do you have? That may limit some of your choices.

Also, if you're running a 32bit OS, there is no point whatsoever installing 8GB RAM unless you are planning to upgrade to a 64bit OS imminently. A 32bit OS simply can't use the extra memory :)

Where do i find which motherboard i have? And what is a PSU please?

Well i'm not changing my OS, so i won't need the 8GB RAM like you said then :)

You can use Speccy/CPU-Z to check your motherboard model.

With your current CPU, I would recommend getting a GTX 750 Ti only.

But a 32bit OS can only adress about 3.1GB RAM minus your graphics card RAM.

That means, if you're planing to install a graphics card with 1GB RAM you'll only be able to adress 2.1GB for your OS and the running applications ... which really isn't much nowadays.

Honest opinion save the money and buy all together, you gonna save quite a bit not being restricted my your old hardware. And dont buy it on pieces, hardware keeps upgrating and you may end up with some updated graphics and a mb "downgraded" for example.
Also good luck buying a new pc is a very time-spending activity (mostly the planning)

I'd start over.

New mobo, cpu, etc. You're just costing yourself more problems/bottlenecks, and perhaps cost in the long run.
