Why refund AC? Do you lean more towards aracdey racing games?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah mostly, games like Forza Horizon look more attractive to me, not full blown real situations plus I don't have a wheel, trying to control your car with a keyboard in AC is like trying to get an insurance company to repair a car they deem totaled.

Oh yes, playing it on keyboard sucks, a controller does the job pretty well.

I have one but I'm not used to playing any game on controller at all, the only one I can actually play with controller is Rocket League.

Nothing, wait for prices to drop more.

I wish the sales were like the old ones. If I remember right, different days would feature different prices, with the final day of the sale being like a "best of" kinda thing where they recapped the best and most popular discounts. Now the sale prices are what they are from start to finish.

I really wish I knew if I'm genuinely remembering this or if I'm mis-remembering things.

Comment has been collapsed.

You're right, they used to do it that way.

They stopped doing it once they started allowing for refunds. Plus folks would sometimes wind up not buying a title because they'd held off on purchasing in hopes of a flash deal later in the sale.

Comment has been collapsed.

Okay yeah, you got me remembering i up on things entirely because of that. Or I'd miss a flash sale, see it go back to the regular sale and then wait hoping it would be in the recap and then when it wouldn't be I'd just say forget the whole thing. Maybe the sales were better that way but yeah it probably was more chaotic and omg, i can only imagine how bad it would have gotten throwing refunds into that mix. 'Oh Game-X just went on sale for a buck less? Well here's 100,000 refunds.' I would not want to be working that job on that day.

Yep. The current system is technically better for customers as a whole but we all still miss the endorphin rush we'd get from catching the flash sales.

I genuinely hope Hextexh Mayhem will work properly and you'll enjoy it. On mobile it came free with my Netflix subscription, and was both confusing and often offbeat with wrong timing - it sits at 2.6/5. Make sure and try it before the refund window passes.

Hades! I totally keep forgetting about that game. It's gonna wind up like Hollow Knight for me. The sequel will be out before I remember it / give in and get it already.

There are no plans for a Hades sequal in the works, so Id suggest getting it right now before you forget forever.
Hades is one of an insanely small amount of games where Id say paying full price for it would still be a great deal for both the amount and quality of gameplay you get from it. So even 40% off is a great deal.
Hollow Knight is good too, but not the same way Hades is.
Hollow Knight is a long and sometimes arduous journey, the game demands your attention and time, especially if you periodically find yourself at a loss for where to go next, whereas Hades is great for a 30 minute gaming session that you can squeeze in whenever you got the time and that "Just one more try" kind of feel, and satisfaction of feeling like youre getting a little better at this every try.

I've bought a ton of stuff, as usual - mostly adventure games:

  • INUA
  • Weird West
  • A Memoir Blue
  • The Whisperer
  • Goetia 2
  • Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness
  • If Found
  • Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition (already refunded)
  • No Longer Home
  • The House in Fata Morgana
  • The House in Fata Morgana - A Requiem for Innocence
  • Ancient Enemy
  • Last Days of Lazarus
  • Escape from the 70's
  • Myst (the most recent version)

Was Weird West more about the style of game or about the setting for you? I've been looking at Weird West but I've also been looking at Blood West. The two are pretty far apart as far as the kinds of games they are and the types of gameplay they offer, but both have pretty similar settings/themes with the whole Wild West meets the supernatural. Check it out if that's the kinda old west game you're looking for.

PS - Hard West is 90% off right now and also falls into the same group as the other two. That brings it down to $2 USD.
EDIT 2 - West of Dead is at 70% off, or 75% if you want the collector's edition which includes the soundtrack (meh) and the Crow DLC : extra weapon, extra level, extra boss, and a little crow that follows you around.

Okay I'll stop now, it's just that I never realized how many there were of on Steam before.

It's definitely about the setting for me. While I'm more or less indifferent towards the topic of Wild West in general, there's something weirdly attractive about it when it's mixed with the supernatural. Loved Hard West (and really enjoyed Hard West 2 demo). Thank you for the recommendation, will try Blood West when it's out of EA.

I bought these:

Baldur's Gate 2
Icewind Dale
Planescape Torment
Vampire Survivors
Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!
Spelunky
Shank
Braveland
Braveland Pirate
Braveland Wizard
PictoQuest
Shadowhand: RPG Card Game
The Night of the Rabbit
Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey
Blackguards 2
Root Double: Before Crime * After Days
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2
Timespinner

I was also going to get Iconoclasts but I had to make a choice and instead got Timespinner. Maybe for the next big sale...

I played both Iconoclasts and Timespinner and Timespinner is so much better. It's a great game, although it's kinda short (which is ok with me but needs to be mentioned). You made a good choice. Also, almost 33% of the games you bought start with the letter "B"! That's crazy!

Comment has been collapsed.

I went for Timespinner because it reminded me of Castlevania - Symphony of the Night, and I love metroidvanias inspired by that game. It's a shame that it's kinda short though, I'll probably feel the same when I play it but that's alright. I didn't even pay attention that some of the games start with the letter B lol.

Just a small fyi, if you are still able to refund Shadowhand, you can pick it up from Fanatical in a bundle with a few other games for a tiny bit cheaper.

Fanatical's standalone game prices are crazy expensive for me because of currencies, but this bundle is reasonably cheap indeed. Thanks for the advice!

I'm not sure if I'm done with purchases or not (hopefully for my wallet but realistically probably not) but what I've gotten so far: Glass Masquerade 1, the Crooked Man bundle (Crooked man, sand man, boogie man, hanged man), Vivette, Cat Museum, and FFXIV: Endwalker

Side note, Bugsnax is a great game, I hope you (and others who got it on the sale) enjoy it!

Glass Masquerade is one of my favorite puzzle games, by far! Its puzzles are gorgeous, and I love how each piece has its own unique shape. I especially love the challenge the piece shapes bring. The music is also great.

I happily recommend it to any fan of puzzles.

I was skeptical about buying it at first because I thought it would be "just another jigsaw puzzle game" but using stained glass instead of traditional puzzle pieces reminded me more of minigames in old point and clicks that I played as a kid where you had to repair broken pots. Each piece being uniquely shaped also means a lot less guesswork for me, lol
