While back in times of N64 and the first Playstation we got a bunch of these released, nowadays it seems like an endangered species.

I'm really looking forward to the release of Yooka-Laylee (kind of a succesor to Banjo-Kazooie games from the same team in case you haven't heard about) but since this will take at least until october for this I wonder if you know any good games that are already available out there in the steam-pool. Thanks for every suggestion. : )

Alice: Madness Returns and Grow Home come to mind. But I really can't recommend Alice enough.

Dark Souls, instead the character jump, you jump :D

Just kidding, I only know Ratchet and Clank on PS suit your request !

But I wonder, have you ever tried Guacamelee, that is definitely the best 2D platformer games I've ever played
Some others good 2D titles too: Trine, Ori, Mario ...

Sorry for my English !

Having painful memories at my first and only Souls Experience... I played Demons Souls for quite a while. At some point the game broke me to be honest. But I'm willing to give another chance to the series since I can absolutely reproduce why so many people love it so much.

When it comes to 2D Plattformers the hing is there is dozens out there. Even way more since the indie scene grows bigger and bigger. Many of them are decent, without question (my personal favourite is the old Donkey Kong Country series) but I'm more after the 3d ones right now. Still thank you. : )

E:// Don't worry, mine is far from perfect as well lol.

2 underground games that very much capture that era are
Poi: http://store.steampowered.com/app/401810/
FreezeME: http://store.steampowered.com/app/390210/

I absolutely LOVED Enslaved, and the Devil May Cry game by the same devs.

I really wish this genre got more love, as it's my favourite. Although, I have a feeling it's coming back now.

As someone else suggested, you should check out Grow Home. It isn't exactly like those older games, but if you and I both enjoyed them, then you'd probably like Grow Home, as I did. Absolutely wonderful game!

I LOVED Enslaved, too! Can't wait for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice now that I know it exists! I can see that I need to hurry up and play DMC!

Oh thanks for letting me know that it has a Store page now! I'm really looking forward to it too :)
As for DMC, definitely play it soon enough. It's one of the very few games that I replayed so soon after just beating it.

There aren't that many quality titles on Steam:
Sonic Generations
Papo & Yo
A Story About My Uncle
Psychonauts

I highly recommend Max: The Curse of Brotherhood (see my review HERE). It's basically a 2D game, but it's done so well that it really FEELS like a 3D game! I really enjoyed it!

EDIT: I cannot WAIT for Yooka-Laylee! Banjo-Kazooie was the best 3D platformer ever made (that I played, at least :p)
