I have a Logitech G15 (~$65), which I regret choosing over a mechanical keyboard. I do actually use the screen and gaming keys, so it's not a total loss, but it's no better than a $10 keyboard for typing. I would gladly have paid more, though, if it had mechanical keys.
I also have a CM Storm Sentinel Advance II mouse (with the Avago ADNS-9800), which I do like for its extra buttons, on the fly DPI adjustment, profiles, (and the lights and screen XD ). That said, the paint peels way too easily on it, and it's not terribly reliable (my first one was replaced under warranty after 23 months). Still, a gaming mouse is a better investment than a gaming keyboard, IMO. I can actually say it has improved my experience. This is originally around $55, but I paid about $30.
I had a gaming headset, a Plantronics Gamecom 377 (~$35). Garbage. The sound stage was good, and it looked good, but that was it. The mic was worse than the ones I install on a breadboard. My new JVC RX700s ($33, I paid $13), which are just headphones, are vastly superior in sound and build quality while costing about the same. These will outclass "gaming" headsets that cost $100, easily. Do not buy gaming headsets, they are a real waste of money. All gimmicks and full of compromises.
I have a replica, wired, Xbox 360 controller bought off eBay for $15 (was expecting a genuine product, bad description with misleading photos). It worked great at first, but now the analog stick is dying on me (can't walk straight smoothly). A good investment so long as you stick with a genuine product. Or use a DualShock 3 ($20), which is what I'm using now as a temporary replacement (I just find it small for my hands).
And finally I have a Logitech Driving Force GT (~$70). Got it as a refurb and it is fantastic. This is the one gaming peripheral I have gotten where I have no regrets (well, except for the lack of a third pedal, but I didn't want to spend triple digits on a steering wheel). If you enjoy racing games, you have to have at least one of these.

how the hell do you get all that stuff that cheap?

Keyboard was just a decent sale. Mouse was a result of Newegg's limited time shell shockers. Headphones were from watching a price tracker and biting right when it was at the lowest price (and I had earned some free gift cards by then, though if you don't count those, then it was $33). DualShock 3 was a price match to a store that was emptying their stock and the steering wheel was on Midnight Box. I find most of these prices from Slickdeals, for what it's worth.

No to all three. My aim is fine even with crappy mice, no one complains about my mic quality even though I'm using a broken one that costed $9 and I don't have any real use for the hotkeys present on a keyboard other than what's normally standard.
tl;dr Total Cheapass

My keyboard sucks, some generic brand but it works for what I need it to.
I was using a Steel Series MMO Gaming mouse, but it was too big for my small hands so I swapped to a Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400 with High-Precision 3600 DPI Optical Engine (around $40 USD). I really like this mouse because you can change the DPI on the actual mouse with is really nice if I need to change it for some reason during combat.
I've had a dozen different headsets, but the one I'm using now is my absolute favorite and it's a Logitech G35 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Headset. I got it on sale at Best Buy for $70 USD and I adore it.

I always use cheap €5-€10 mice, have an Ear Force Z2 Turtle Beach headset, and use a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.

mfw your keyboard costs as much as the midrange gaming keyboards but it has less features.

I just get whatever seems good for perfomance/dollar and comfort.
I have a Microsft Sidewinder X4 which I got for about $40, it's an awesome keyboard and amazing for the price.
My mouse is just a Logitech Marathon M705, I really don't like wired mice, I always feel restricted, and the M705 suits my needs, a few side buttons, which I mapped for media control so I can sit on my bed holding my mouse and use it as a remote, and generally a sturdy, comfortable mouse.
If they ever make a wireless G9X, I would probably buy it, the wire is the only thing that kept me from buying it.
I still don't have a headset, which is kind of killing me inside, I'm hoping someone will get me one for my birthday though.

I hear a lot of good stuff about the sidewinders.
I prefer cabled mice because they won't need batteries (or rechargeable)
as for a headset, I bought a desk mic and just use some regular headphones which are more comfortable than any "gaming" headset I ever wore.
