I don't see what's so funny about this at all.

You always receive the bonuses no matter the amount of
your contribution if you purchase the bundle before they're added.
Comment has been collapsed.
Because you have to pay more than the average to receive them if you purchase it now.
Comment has been collapsed.
BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT THE BUNDLE BEFORE THEY WERE RELEASED. MAYBE READING THINGS IN CAPS IS EASIER FOR YOU. Also if you are capable of reading here you surely are capable of reading from their emails or blog... "If you have already purchased the bundle, you can get the Steam keys for your bonus content right now for free from your download page. New purchasers can get the games by paying over the average price."
Comment has been collapsed.
If you don't have money to throw away, then don't buy it. Don't be a cheap asshole.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. I've never really understood why Humble Bundle acts that way, though. You'd think that they'd try to encourage people to beat the average. Let people up their bids if they paid only a dollar early, and see a later BTA extra that they want.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess they don't want top punish people who didn't get BTA because they weren't interested in the bonus game(s). They could however simply offer people to increase their donation to get the extra bonuses. Wouldn't work with gift links though as those can't be "upgraded". Still, wouldn't reward cheap-asses with extra games is they paid the strict minimum.
Comment has been collapsed.
They wouldn't be punishing people, though. As long as you can up your donation, you wouldn't even be out that first dollar if you later decided to BTA. The only thing you lose is the likely lower BTA point. For gifts, they could work out a way to upgrade them. The simplest way would probably be for the person who bought the gift to be responsible for upgrading it, but they could work it the other way around if they felt like it.
Indie Gala has "secret" unlocks, but you only get them if you beat the average when you buy the bundle. The biggest difference is that Indie Gala at least tells you how many things will be added, while Humble Bundle doesn't promise to add anything.

Aww, you didn't get a $40 game on top of the other $20+ games that you spent that whole $1 on?
Those evil bastards...

well who than just the guy who won knows what he actually received?...thats a trick aren't you wondering why are there so many Red Faction Armageddon and Metro 2033 individual giveaways?because the winner will receive the whole THQ bundle and he will be happy and will be like "what a nice guy sent me the whole bundle...CHECK AS RECEIVED" and the guy who made the giveaway actually receives the Contribution value for the game it self which is 19$ for example(not sure how much it really is xD) instead of the 0$ because he reached his 30$ bundle giveaways limit ;) its a trick man :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Most of those giveaways are for Amazon keys.
They had a pack on sale that included both games just before the Humble THQ Bundle launched.
Comment has been collapsed.
trust the site and the moderators, i know for sure that if I see a game like red faction or metro that I look at the giveaway and the persons profile and if no proof is shown, id ask. and i know plenty of other people who do the same and even report them all the time. this site has grown, the moderators do their jobs great, and only assholes do what you explain now a days.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeh, but people will buy a $1 bundle, make a giveaway listed as "Red Faction: Arma" in order to scam contributor value.
The giveaway winner likely won't complain as he got the game + more. That's why it still needs to be added to the bundle list.
Comment has been collapsed.
its enough to get support suspicious to make them ask for proof, especially if you dont have the game in your inventory. A lot of ppl that were smarter than you tried it already and still got busted. Support is not as stupid as you would like to have them.
Comment has been collapsed.
well LOL you don't seem to be smart?you know that keys are not in inventory right???and you have the game in your games list and the guy who won has it too because of the bundle 100% they won't get suspicious and I don't think that they check every single of the thousands of giveaways happening everyday...the staff team must be really big to be able to check every single giveaway
Comment has been collapsed.
With the way you're carrying on like this, it's like you're just asking for support to start watching your giveaways. Like that guy who was asking about deleting old giveaways because he gave beta keys instead of full games...
Comment has been collapsed.
well LOL you don't seem to be smart? You can list a giveaway even if you didn't own the game. bundling the game keys with dlc and listing it as a bundle for more contrib~ is what they're talking about. But really, you're just stupiding all over this thread, close it.
Comment has been collapsed.
actually its pretty easy to check...use search function for the games in the bundle once per week and act. Takes 10 minutes max.
And yes I know that the keys are not in the inventory, obviously you have problems understanding the "problem" though.
Lemme help you a little my funny challenged friend.
First, you dont need to have the games in your own library, dont even know why you are bringing this here now. Second, WAIT...THAT GUY WON COMPANY OF HEROES AND ON THE SAME THEY HE BOUGHT ALL THE OTHER GAMES FROM THE BUNDLE? Seems legit. Third, "THQ bundle is on,guy is making a giveaway for CoH full package...Let's ask him where he got it from".
Ofc its not 100% proof but its not as easy as you say. But go ahead, try it. I really would love to see you get suspended cuz u were so much smarter than everyone else.
Comment has been collapsed.
Support will only become suspicious of your giveaway if people start reporting the giveaway.
A game not being in your inventory is not automatically suspicious, people give out tons of keys on this site.
The fact is, it's very hard to get busted for pulling a switch and gifting a bundle key rather than the actual game.
That's why games like Torchlight and S.P.A.Z. are in the bundle list, even though they were only in Humble Bundle all-in-one keys.
Comment has been collapsed.
How would they 'get caught'? Game keys are not in your inventory, there is no 'paper trail' so-to-speak when you hand over a game key.
Unless the winner of the giveaway reports it, no one knows what the gift was.
That's why all bundle games need to be flagged as bundle games - Humble Bundle combo-key games are no exception.
Comment has been collapsed.
ask the ppl who created Company of heroes full package. They dont need to be reported,if they could not proof that their giveaway was not THQ bundle they got suspended or at least the giveaway was deleted. Besides..its fucking obvious 90% of the time if its from the bundle or not.
Comment has been collapsed.
That is a unique situation with an entire collection being part of a bundle - normally doesn't happen and needs to be monitored for abuse.
But what if it was, say, Metro 2033? How would anyone know if it was a bundle key or an actual copy being gifted?
Comment has been collapsed.
I agree that they can do so, but that would force them to ask every user for every giveaway of every bundle game.
Better solution is just to add them all to the bundle list and be done with it. That way bundle gifters would be capped at $30, like how it is for every other bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
because there is only one key for all games. Abusing this is not creating a giveaway for a bundle game, its simply feedback fraud and therefor bannable. Giving away single bundle games (if possible) or giving away the whole bundle (as a whole bundle) is allowed.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, I know what the rules are. I'm saying the games should be added to the bundle list for the people who try to break the rules.
I'll give you an example - say I buy a THQ bundle and make a giveaway for Metro 2033. The winner gets an email with the bundle code, activates it, gets Metro + others. He is happy, got the game he wanted + more -- it's very unlikely he will report the giveaway.
If he marks the game as received, no one will know there was anything out of the ordinary, and I would have made $20 of contributor value for $1.
If the game was simply on the bundle list, problem solved.

We suspend and delete any time there's a question of legitimacy. If they can provide proof of purchase, we can undo it. Otherwise it stands (it usually does). Also, just because the games aren't on the list yet doesn't mean they won't be later. We can always add them, and doing so is retroactive, of course.
Comment has been collapsed.
True enough, I just know that when there is a chance to take advantage, there will always be a percentage of people who will do so.
The "Bundle List" is a good deterrent to exploiters as they don't really have anything to gain once they cap out.
Kudos for handling these games on a case-by-case basis. It's definitely the more work-intensive solution to the issue.
Comment has been collapsed.
How do you know what to report? Red Faction: Arma and Metro 2033 have been on sale a lot, and they were both in the Amazon THQ pack as well.
Do you just report them all regardless?
Or what, you are going to check every winner's games library for all the games in the bundle?
What if he already owned some of them from before?
That seems like a TON of work to do for every single giveaway. Just add the games to the bundle list and then we don't have to worry about abuse.
Comment has been collapsed.
Its not a ton of work, you just want to see it as a ton of work. And it's easy to see if he owned the games before already or if they were all activated at the same time. Thats enough for support to ask for proof. I wrote all of this again and again but you just dont see the point. It ain't a shitload of work,it doesnt happen all the time and those who did it so far got suspended. There were quite a few already. Support knows best how to do their work, they don't cry,so they can handle it.
Comment has been collapsed.
I still can't see the advantage to this. Wouldn't it just be easier and require less work for support to just flag the games as bundle games?
I mean, all other bundle games are on the bundle list - why not just save the headache and add these ones as well. Then no one has to worry about reports or checking on user's profiles.
