Amount of entries before winning your first giveaway.
Just a rough estimate?
I thought I was just really unlucky so far but it seems like most have been between 1000-1499.
Thanks also for answering everyone <3

Your poll is missing options. I've seen people win on their first entry, as well as people with over 4000 entries and no win.
For my part, it was around the 1k mark.

Can't edit the poll anymore sadly but yeah a 2.000+ option would have been good. My apologies and thanks for the reply!

I won my first game on here from a post that was recruiting for a WL for 5 minutes followed by a giveaway. 11 entries, 3 copies - I felt my chances were decent. lol
I only enter for games that I want to win and it takes stalking my wishlist every hour or so, some giveaways are only for 1 hour so gotta be quick! Now that I have Fallout 4, I've been slacking on checking as often as I was. But oh well, enjoying the game so all's good. =)

I won on the same day I registered actually, but that was incredibly lucky:) Most people or so I heard have to enter about 1000 times before they win anything... So you are still not that unlucky:) Maybe tried this one; https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/EWkZk/sleeping-valley, the odds are pretty good:)

Lol my odds would be pretty good there indeed :P
However I doubt I'd ever actually play the game so I'll pass and hope others may enjoy it instead!

67 (68 if you count the winning gib) and ~4 days after joining.
Though to be fair, it was a massive dev sponsored gib :P

About 600 I think, although I didn't get a second win for a long time.

19 winds out of 6010 entries. 4.5 months. But I did enter a few that had pretty good odds. Low entries due to puzzles and such. that's an average of 1 per 316. Steam gifts says I'm 5 below estimated but I think I'm doing pretty good. I've had a couple of very nice wins. I intend to play everything I've won. But it may take awhile. I spend more time here then actually playing.
Where does that estimated number come from? Is it an average of everyone?

I think it's just the mean of the probability distribution (ie an average of your chances to win each specific giveaway you've entered) compared to the real value that you ended up winning.
edit -
And it's basically why these questions like "how long (or how many entries) before before you won" aren't useful for much of anything other than pure curiosity. Even if everyone entered the same amount, the number of entrants on each giveaway is just a way more significant factor.
Assuming gift difference measures what I think, then that's pretty much the only relevant stat that can be compared across members and indicates whether luck is kicking your ass compared to what's expected or whether you're basically hitting the lottery.

theres a counter on the bottom of the entries list :)

The commonly listed average/median (by way of previous threads on this topic) appears to be around 2000.
Do note, events like my Ultimate Jigsaw Thread typically only see 20 or fewer entries per giveaway (and each event has 50+ games, meaning many people win 3+ gibs in one go), so following forum giveaways can definitely boost your odds.
Heck, my puzzle giveaways for 3xSee No Evil and Thief: Gold are currently at 6 and 4 entries, respectively (if you want a trickier puzzle than jigsaws to work with).
But, more generally, I'd recommend getting to level 2. Anything past that point may not be worth your effort in a pure cost-to-benefit perspective, but levels 1 and 2 do get you access to a lot of additional giveaways (I, for one, typically do event and group giveaways at level 2+, for example.)

I'm currently on 1553 entries and I won one game which was a free game so it got removed.
I'm really just interested in how many entries you guys have/had with your first giveaway won :P
Hope I did this poll thing right!
Thanks for taking the time to answer :)
Edit: I'm only entering giveaways for games that I actually want of course which are usually 10+ euros on Steam so many entries per giveaway :P
