It's probably the first two games I will try out of the box, but I don't think I'll play more than an hour. Because they have 3D support. I have never played a game with 3D glasses and I'm very curious to try it.
I'm slowly thinking of an order in which I'll play all these games. As I have learned with Steam, bundles and SteamGifts, if I don't plan ahead my gaming sessions, I end up playing only bits of games and I never finish them.
I have kids, two little daughters, that might be afraid of some games I'll display on the family's TV.
So here's the plan :
Daytime games to play while they watch :
- Journey
- De Blob 2 (with 3D glasses !)
- Any car game (my 7yo loves racing but I don't know which one will be first of the ones I got ; any suggestion ?)
- Ni No Kuni (my 7yo can read but she's not quite there yet ; we're big Ghibli fans)
Nighttime games to play alone with headphones :
- Demon's Souls (I'm a very average Dark Souls player but I love it ; I always wanted to play Demon's Souls)
- Ico & Shadow of the Colossus HD with 3D glasses.
- Ico & Shadow of the Colossus HD without 3D glasses because of eye strain and battery level :)
- Dark Souls. I have it on PC but I'm stuck. And I recently put the PC in the office with a Steam Link on my TV. And Dark Souls with a 70ms lag is unplayable.
- the Uncharted series. Actually, it may be a good choice of daytime sessions but some aspects might frighten my kids so I have to try the games first.
- GTA V
- Sneaky Trains of course. If you don't know it, you should check it out, I've put a sneaky link in the description.
- The Last of Us. It's probably the game people recommend me the most. If I don't keep it for the end, I'll never touch any other game.

Maybe I kind of biased but Ico & Shadow of Colossus is fine for kids because it's like fairy tail story and almost no text XD
My niece lovee Uncharted, they're <10 yo boys though, dunno about girls, my girls niece prefer dolls and watch masha&the bear XD
The game have gun fight, driving element ^^
Don't know about racing game, the only racing game I have on ps3 is gt5

with all the games, it is a very good deal. Especially since it is not the slim one. the FAT one has better performance, but break a bit easier than the slim one. But then again, it is easier to fix.. I talk from experience :p

120 Euros is a pretty good deal for a PS3,but how low does PS4 go for ?

PS4 (the lowest I've ever seen it) has gone for about 280 euros (or $320). I usually see it around 310 euros (or $350) on sites and such. It won't get very much cheaper until much later in its life span (same story with the PS3).

thats nice, here in my country most used PS3 (slim and superslim) costs the same as brand new. (and 90% of the time they don't give cables and controllers with it) :( (my only hope for playing the ~10 games i want is rpcs3 lol)

No Resistance games, Twisted Metal, Killzone games, Midnight Club games, Dead or Alive games, Pursuit Force games, other Motorstorm games, SOCOM games, God of War Ascension, Starhawk, Infamous games, Yakuza games or Def Jam Fight for NY the Takeover though? These PS3 exclusives are worthy to be added to that list you wrote, i hope you look into them. Shame Dead Head Fred or Patapon games werent ported to the PS3 though...

But ofcourse! These are amazing titles, if youre not familar with them yet, i beg you to check them out because you will have a grand expierience with them, alot of these games i envy the console users as they got these but we pc users never did...uhm, your bank account :o ? Well, i hope the games get on sales so you can save up and buy as much as possible of these you can, id advise you'd focus on the exclusives first and not on games that you can also play on pc like Mafia 2 but thats ofcourse just my toughts. Anyway, titles like Resistance, Killzone, Infamous are widely loved and legendary but all the other games are realy realy good, even great aswell on their own, so if you got the time and funds, dont miss out on these any longer. Im thankfull you'l check them out, wish i could see you expierience some of these titles in person :) ah well, happy gaming, getting a PS3 was a unnusual but good choice. You should also see if you can play The Last of Us multiplayer and other games that have it, see if players are still there cause the multiplayer modes are good fun, esspecialy if you wanna take a break from the campaigns or after you finished them, theres good fun to have if they work and theres still players, i gurrantee you mister TrevorGoodchild. Have fun :)

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Did you buy it from a pro-reseller or from a random guy who was just selling his stuff? Also let me know if it works when you receive it (the thing that scares me a lot is that most seller don't accept returns).

It's from a random seller. The condition states "used but in good condition".
However, if the console does its job for a few months only, I'll be happy. If I'm pleased but the console dies, I'll look for another one.
But what really scares me is the condition of the game discs. Except for Dark Souls, I don't have any of them and most of them look awesome. If I had to buy separately the ones that interest me the most, it could cost me around 200€ and a lot of time.

Well, I'd like to play a couple of games from this list. But buying a PS3 for this is too expensive for me. If it didn't made a hole in your budget - then I'd say it was a good purchase.

Do yourself a favor and go buy Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD.
It's an amazing game (I love the first one, too, but the second one is a better entry point)

I'll have to respectfully disagree, the tutorial bit of the second one throws you off the boat so hard you'll have no idea what's going on.
And going back to the first after the second is just finger-twisting (I'm looking at you, camera controls, the psp game has the same system damnit, learn to use the second stick!)
But the games are excellent, no argument there :D

Pretty neat deal, and its quite obvious why someone would sell this.
They likely moved onto a new platform and no longer played on this one, still had their games around and figured they could sell it off.
Trading it in at Gamestop or the like would get you a fraction of what you paid even so why not kill two birds with one stone. Make someone happy with an older gen console and a bunch of great games while getting some spending money for yourself. ;)
Regardless, this will get you quite some hours of entertainment. Hope the device lasts long enough to get through a fair chunk of it.

What you should also absolutely get is the Jak & Daxter Trilogy, they're TOO good for this world, especially the first one...

PS3 and PSP both have great libraries, even the console itself was much more of a beast than the PS4 is now.
Demon´s souls is a very interesting game, a lot of things where removed for either being overly complex or just plain not working but it stands as one of my favorites in the entire series.
Boss fights are also a bit different, for the most part their more about the set piece.
Ni No Kuni is also a very good, i find it to be very nostalgic.
Unfortunatly and im not sure anymore, the second battle against The Guardian Of Worlds gives you a glimpse of how hard a fight could be and how complex the mechanics are, and that will be the end of the game.

Great deal if you ask me. I passed my PS3s on to my children and game only on PC and PS4 at this point, but still have a ton of PS3 games for trade/sell if you want to check them out.

I love my PS3, it's almost 7 years old now and I've never had a single problem with it (unlike the POS 360 I had). that 40 GB drive definitely needs an upgrade, and the sooner the better. The way Sony has the drives set up, as soon as you remove the old one, you cant just plug it back in, you have to re-install its OS so if you want to have a lot of saved games stored or titles installed, the sooner you get a bigger drive and install it, the better. Save a lot of time dealing with backups. I put a 320GB drive in mine and it was a big help over the stock 160GB I had before. And nowadays, you can probably get 500GB or 1TB pretty cheap.

And the Uncharted series is a must, pretty much all of Naughty Dog is good stuff. Ni no Kuni is pretty good, I need to get back into that, Borderlands Presequel derailed me LOL.

The only last gen console I had was a Wii, a gift I received from my girlfriend.
I was pretty happy with it but I'm a PC gamer. Not a fanatic but PC is where I game. But I still watch and read console game reviews.
Now that the PS4 has been released for some time, I thought I could get me a cheap PS3 with some games. I have a brand new HDTV. Now I can console.
I'm more interested in the PS3 since the Xbox 360 exclusives are not really my cup of tea (or am I wrong?).
I was just browsing on ebay looking for "playstation 3 Dark Souls Prepare to Die" and this is the combo I found :
The previous owner had some good tastes. I still don't know why he sold it.
The bids started at 80€. We were 2 bidders.
I won at 122,50€
I think I will not play on my PC in the next months.
EDIT : turns out the previous owner had already installed a 750Gb HDD.
