I buy some DLCs because I think they have nice content, new features... But why don't developpers release them for free? I mean, we already bought the game so why can't they let us download the new content for free? Freaking greed.
I can understand that some DLCs can help out little studios trying to "survive", but some (a lot, actually) companies simply do it because they are greedy.
I also understand that the team who produced the DLC worked on it, and these people are paid for their work, but these shitty things shouldn't have a price ( they shouldn't even exist).
Some DLCs are great because they bring more hours of fun, new stories. The others are just here to remind us that some companies think players are cows waiting to be milked.

Like the person above, I also bought some DLC. Those I think are worthwhile, for example in Mass Effect 3, the Protean DLC, or Battlefield 3, I bought Premium.
But I think the DLC are more important, when they bring fragments of the campaign, I always remember that I could never play the real ending of Prince of Persia 2008, because that does not exist in PC DLC.

I usually purchase DLC after I've enjoyed a game and want more out of it. I don't purchase DLC before spending some hours in the game, unless the difference from the base game's price to game + all DLC bundle is very small.
I also avoid purchasing games if they have DLC that make me feel I'm missing out on too much without them. That's why I don't own Borderlands 2 nor Battlefield 3 yet.

I usually take story DLCs and in some cases, race DLCs (like in GSB). I'd never touch the item DLCs like those in Darksiders 2 (only excepton is the community weapons pack from KF for obvious reasons) and skin DLCs.

I try to stay away from DLCs, as they usually add rushed and short content, made to please that demographic that wants everything NOW.
As a business model it is a good thing for them, as it allows them to micromanage content and sell it for cheap, making more money in the long run and keeping the game alive without too much effort.
For the average consumer (14yr old) it's a great way to get more content for dirt cheap prices (usually an arena, races, cars, and skins), however, me personally, having lived in an era where everything was customizable (i remember editing skins in Quake III, or just modding scripts in games and much more), i realize that the effort the devs make to release such content is not really worth the money. Of course there are exceptions, but usually they don't. And since the released content is usually story irrelevant, it becomes an even lesser reason for me to buy something like that.
Yeah, i'm biased, and prefer to wait longer and get a relevant and content abundant material (see expansion pack).

Cosmetic DLC is great, as it can be used by players to be unique and support the Developers. Content DLC is only justifiable if the base game has enough content on its own, and only for single player games. Any sort of game changing multiplayer DLC is bad.
Seriously, I don't get why don't people support cosmetic DLC. Those are the ones that do not deprive you of the full game experience.

Depends, Most Wanted 2012 I was glad to hand the money over because of the extra cars (alot) and the extra portion of the Map (Airport)
I wouldn't buy the Tomb Raider DLC skins though, so it just depends on the game and what you get for your money. The best DLC hands down has to be the GTAIV DLC's.

they should have released the game without DLC and instead released a complete game.
Put all the cars into the main game and also airport should have been there in the first place.
Such DLCs are just cut off from the main game to make some more money.

Unless it's an indie developer who I'd want to support, most games that go overboard with DLC won't see my money until there's an edition that is all inclusive (e.g. GOTY).

I absolutely hate DLCs. At least 'normal' DLCs, which only add a small amount of content (like a new character skin, a new quest, a few new weapons etc). It's one of the downsides of digital distribution. Companies can sell their tiny crappy additions without any additional cost for packaging, distribution etc. Less than ten years ago there were expansions only, and they usually cost half the price of a regular game, but were well worth it as they often added almost the same amount of content as the original game had. Now you get a bunch of small and overpriced additions instead. More money for less work. It's a shame really and I generally don't buy DLC unless it's the 'old school', large expansion type DLC.

So, I really don't like this new way of publishers to sell content. Now, if you want to have the full game, you have to pay twice the price of the retail game, for example Darksiders 2, that has a dozen DLCs. I got it on sale, with a bunch of DLCs included, so I'm not sure what is the original content and what is DLC, but is it really necessary to enjoy the game as it was meant to be?
There are some games that aren't even released, but there are DLCs available for purchase already. Not to mention that if you purchase a game near release date, you play it before most DLCs are out.
I remember several years ago, where DLCs were big deals, almost like a expansion pack.
So, do you buy DLCs? If you don't, you think you miss a lot of the game if you don't? I honestly think if I don't buy everything, I will not enjoy the full game, but that doesn't mean I buy all DLCs :P
