Even the root of the name Nikolaos is Greek. This saint was a Greek of the East roman empire. ΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΣ = ΝΙΚΗ + ΛΑΟΣ = the victory of the people . Came from a very rich family but sold everything for the poor. He was a high orthodox priest in Caesaria in minor asia and he started to wear red clothes for he wanted to be loved but small children. This is the true story the northpole, the elves and other stuff is just a fairytail. And of course he was orthodox.

Well, I thought I was a special bit pedantic by knowing he was from what is now Turkey, but this thread has taught me that it wasn't pedantic enough and that he's a Greek, from the Roman Empire, who is from an area that is in what is now Turkey.

So... If I ever end up on a trivia game show and this comes up, thank you in advance SteamGifts and Wikipedia. :D
