I've reported the scammer on steamrep, but in my opinion that doesn't do much, so I created this post on outpost to try get the community to come together and actually do something about scammers. Information and proof can be found here Any help would be appreciated.

I've been scammed off a Lime Flared Frontiersman and I contacted support if I could receive my item back. Well they said it was impossible to do so but they also said :

"We will investigate this user and take appropriate action. Please note that you will not receive a notification about any action taken as a result of this report."

So you can contact Steam Support to deal with this person, but they might not help out with your hat.

Well, best you can do is to elaborate every detail of this scam to Support. P.S I reported him so... I guess Steam will be convinced on the more reports he gets.

Sadly, steam doesn't bother with scams, only automated VAC bans and i don't see how they can automate bans for scams.

They don't even have enough manpower for their support so i don't think they will accept scam reports anytime soon as they do take a lot longer to process and they wont benefit from it.

The only way to prevent getting scammed is to check steamrep, steamtrades and other rep sites. Also, make sure they are not new accounts that suddenly get a bunch of reps. There are cases where people trade a lot and does charge backs. Or, credit card frauds.

It's quite stupid really, but I see why they wouldn't have the time to accept scam reports. I did check his steamrep etc. but he wasn't marked, either this was his first time scamming or it was a new account(I think it was a new account and I had my doubts before trading but I decided to trust him)

TF2 item, he said he'd pay me via paypal and I decided to trust him and send him the hat first(someone has to go first) and well, that was a bad idea.

When ever paypal is in the trade the buyer goes first and only go first on paypal if the guy has over 100 stemtrades rep, high steam level, TONS of games and his profile is advertising his sales.

You gotta have a proven middleman if you having a trade which involves real money.

You don't always need a middleman, but I probably should've used one.

Papastalin, yes I realise this now, it was my first "big" trade so all I really had was a bit of common sense, which I obviously lacked on that day.

There was no set price as it is 1 of 2 in the world but my B/O was 7 buds and he "offered" $230

Doesn't this count as calling out? Might want to remove those links.

remove the links or you risk being suspended for calling out

There's no direct link to the scammer on this thread, so no problem. And if there is, I expect a discussion about it, not a direct suspension.
