Cheap Indie with tons of achievements and high re-playability value.
And sometimes metacritic score too. 70 and above.

Price - I like games on sale. The more the merrier.
Achievements - If they make sense... Hate games that have achievements for every time you click on something.
Replayability - sometimes. Important in some genres, not as much in others.
Genre - Not keen on Hidden object games, turn-based wargames generic shooters and so on... I do like RPG and RTS and story driven action games.
Story - I like a game with good story, choices, suspense,...
Production - I hate stupid bugs and nuisances that ruin my gaming experience. Like polished games with cool animations, slick menus and so on.
Indie/AAA - I'm more inclined to pay full price for great indie game, almost never preorder AAA titles - exception was Witcher 2 on GOG, but that is, in a way, an Indie game, lol.
Cult status - you may be born in 2000, but you should own Starcraft. I'm born in the 80s, so you know...
and so on...

There are some things that simply -must- be played, no matter who you are. Conker's Bad Fur Day -- The Great Mighty Poo battle is one of those things. Psychonaunts -- The Milkman Conspiracy is also on the list.

Is it on sale? Yes? ---> BUY!
No? ---> Wait for a sale.

Price - It's important.
Genre - I enjoy some game genres more than I others, puzzle games are one of my personal favorites.
Re-playability - This goes along with price, if its something I will probably only play through once, I would rather not spend too much, while if it's likely that I will play it with greater frequency, then I obviously will be willing to pay more.

Sadly right now, and for the next while, its all about one thing. The price :-(

Price and genre/type are the main factors for me. It has to be a game I think I'm going to like from its description, trailers, etc., at a price I'm willing to pay (which usually means waiting for a sale). I have to be able to play it, too, so I'll usually look at the system requirements just to make sure they're not above my current machine. I also don't do a lot of multiplayer or co-op, so I'll tend towards games that have a single player mode. To a lesser extent, reviews/ratings and other people's opinions can help, especially if they're familiar with the game; those can help guide me towards generally better games. I don't really look at things like achievements or re-playability though.
