I've actually been here a week or so. I've entered a couple of giveaways, but I've never actually bothered asking: How does the 'giveaway' part of a giveaway actually work? How do people receive the gifts? Sorry if it's been asked before.

The person giving the gift will use your valid email address or steam trade to get it to you.

The person is chosen randomly from those entered and the person who created it will either add you on Steam and give you the game that way, could be a CD-key, gift or Humble Bundle link, or they will email it to you.

Don't worry. The fact that you actually tried to find it puts you WAY above a lot of people who join the site.
If you keep an eye on the forum you'll soon realize how 2-3 topics are adressed constantly, every single day. :D

I'll suggest you to install the great "steamgift plus" (<- search for it in the forum): it will help you keep the giveaways organized.

The support tab is where you make tickets to send into the Support team for them to answer. That is also where you see their response to your ticket.

The person who is giving it away sees the email address you've provided, and sends it to that email. Alternatively they add you and give you the game.
