depends on you. if you are getting one because you think they are cute and are just going to neglect it for a few months and decide its not right for you then no. Don't get one.

NoOoOoOo. People treating non-domesticated species as pets get a rude awakening when instinct bites them. The animals generally aren't happy to be pets, either.

Based on your attitude alone, I don't think it would be a good idea.

I don't mean to offend you or anything, really. It's just that since you do not appear to know much (or any) about this, this idea could go very wrong. A pet is a serious and massive responsibility, so you would have to acquire the appropriate amount of both knowledge and responsibility in order to have an exotic pet. I'm sure it isn't an easy task like a cat or a dog.

+1, except the last sentence. Even a cat and especially a dog are not easy tasks. They cannot be let alone for a day, need to be walked, need to be played with, want to learn stuff and you need to teach them a lot in order to live a happy life with them. I'd say fishes are easy but I don't like to see people having fish as pets at all.

That last line wasn't very clear, I meant "easy" as in common knowledge. Most people know what is needed in order to own dogs or cats, while having an exotic pet is an entire other thing. Or maybe that's just me, because I grew up with cats and dogs (well, mostly dogs, really). :P

Foxes are wild animals; as such, I would feel bad about keeping it away from its natural habitat. Also all foxes are named Basil, so if you were thinking of another name... NOPE :p

Adding on to what jbondguy007 said

First: Gotta say, if you're looking for exotic pet care advice from a steam giveaway forum, you're not ready for an exotic pet. But that's just, like, my opinion man...

If everybody else hasn't convinced you already, here's the important questions:

Do you own your own home? Renting a house doesn't count, btw
Do you know anything about its strict dietary needs? Cat/dog food won't cut it.
Can you provide an environment that serves to accommodate its instincts so it doesn't stress itself to death? Do you know how to do this?
Can you deal with an easily excitable, loud, high-pitched, squeaky, NOCTURNAL animal in your home? (Because fennecs are prey animals, they pretty much can't be kept outside.)

Pets of any kind aren't an impulse purchase. If you're not willing to put in your own research and consult with an expert to 100% ensure you can meet their needs, you shouldn't be getting one, period. It's another creature's life you're dealing with.

The reason i'm looking for exotic pet care advice from steam gifts is that i tried a lot of pet related forums and they all have different minds
Anyways you and jbondguy007 convinced me not to get one, I can take responsibility but i don't wanna bother my family
Thanks !

People have made good points for the reasons why not, let me add a few from the perspective of someone who had a fox years ago. Do you want to be bit? A lot? Like every time the fox is feeling playful? Which is all the time? Can you handle a pet that will be in the hyperactive puppy stage its entire life? Do you have wooden floors? Or carpets? Really any kind of floor besides concrete? Because they will destroy it trying to dig under doors to get out if you arent providing them enough time outside. Are you prepared for the fallout when you do take it outside and it gets a hold of a neighbors kitten or chicken or similar small animal? Seriously, the fact you have to ask alone, should provide your answer. Not being a dick, just generally speaking it sounds like you have no idea what goes into owning a fox.

I've actually been wanting a fox as a pet myself, but reading about it definitely makes me definitely rethink the decision. It's better if you volunteer at a place that cares for foxes - that way you can see first hand what foxes are really like.

Some reading from one of the most famous fox owners on the internet.
