Due to features in Steam's API ("Daedalic bug") this would probably set many proper games, that are in publisher bundles on Steam, to no CV.
Comment has been collapsed.
Most games are already there anyway and the rest will end up there pretty soon at the rate whoever is in charge of it is handling things these days so why would it even matter? The inner circle seems to be pushing to where only brand new AAA games are welcome and everything else has no value.

If a game is in a publisher bundle and that bundle is on sale cheaper than the regular price of the game, Steam's API reports the bundle's regular price as the value of the single game.
For example Randal's Monday is in the DAEDALIC - GIGANTIC BUNDLE, so Randal's Monday is worth 70CV right now Strg+F for Randal on my SGTools sent list.
Comment has been collapsed.
Here it's still worth only 20P. Seems those bugged prices are somehow ignored. Maybe they are just updated when there is no discount.
And I see the real price in this API call in one of the sub packages.

Maybe it is not an issue anymore, but in the past I gained temporarily up to 600 RCV due to Deadalic games being on sale.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not sure about the numbers, but every game that is in a publisher or thematic bundle on Steam is a potential candidate. For example for Randal's Monday, see my explanation above, this has been the case a lot of times, so there would have been a false positive each of those times.

Forget your idea.
It would involve work from cg, the owner, admin and only programmer of sg, and that is the reason why it will not happen.
I gave the mods, and the mods cg, a tracker link for the shady ru shops, that sell games for mostly 4 - 14 cents, to add automatically all the listed games there to the reduced cv list.
It never happened in 5 years+
One of our discord staff members wrote a tool that gained the info if a game is listed in that shops or in the DIG shop and marked the cv from them as "shady". He needed one weekend for it (with much more options that i will not reveal), which shows that the amount of work for something like this isn't much (and still too much for cg to do it in 5 years+...).
Sadly he stopped to use sg and had this tool on his second PC, that needed to run that it worked, so it isn't available anymore.

Hey, why attack people who make suggestions that would improve things?
I sincerely want to know.
grego87 says that they don't feel attacked, so I take it back.
Comment has been collapsed.
When did i attack people, i assume you mean the OP, with my comment above ?
Suggestions bring nothing when the only admin/programmer is lazy and do nearly nothing.
PS.: This is my last comment to it. I don't waste more of my lifetime for such answers.

You say:
Forget your idea.
If you doubted the merits of the suggestion, or had constructive criticism, I could understand that.
But you just dismiss it out of hand.
This not only attacks OP's idea, and perhaps OP, but it discourages future suggestions from OP and others.
And also if your goal is to suppress OP's suggestion, responding to it gives it a free bump. If you don't agree, let it drop to the bottom. Any response puts their suggestion in front of more people.
It would involve work from cg, the owner, admin and only programmer of sg, and that is the reason why it will not happen.

I feel like this is an attack against CG.
If I described you as lazy and do nothing, would that be contributing to the discussion? Or would that be a personal attack? For example in the other posts when you began to question my motivations, was that a criticism of my points? Or was it an attack on myself or my credibility or consistency? Personally I felt that it was getting close to stepping over the line into a personal attack. That's why I disengaged in that discussion.
I understand you are upset that things are not the way you would prefer them to be, but comments like the above do not help anyone, nor do they improve the quality of the discussion.
PS.: This is my last comment to it. I don't waste more of my lifetime for such answers.
Please do what makes you happy.
I wish you well.

Has it ever seemed like the site owner gives a damn and this website ever does anything besides like in "maintenance mode" for the past several years?
There is your answer. If anyone wants a better functioning giveaway site that this one, they will have to make a new on themselves. This was a bit of a "fad" several years ago. All of those sites failed.

It is clear to me that CG has the resources, skills, and commitment necessary to maintain and improve SG. I'm not aware of the history but based on what you said, clearly the others did not have those qualities. They have also prevailed against other more commercial websites that have tried the same thing.
Since you use and, presumably, like SG, why say discouraging things about the reason this site exists when many others failed? What does that accomplish? Do you think that they are not aware of the issues you have?

So when's the new autojoiner ban wave? That's one notable example. The decent community has been waiting for the future more severe suspensions for over 6 years. No, it isn't hard to find them. (:

I can't really be more clear about it.
Let's say that I'm confident that the collective SG staff is doing everything they are capable of to make the site better.
I see a problem, I work on it myself and, when appropriate, I organize with others for a greater purpose.

Perhaps there is some criteria for Zero CR that we are not privy to.. but they are doing what they are capable of doing. Or perhaps capable is the wrong word?
"Giving as much of their personal time as they want to?" Does that make more sense.
But I believe most of the staff are volunteers. And this is a free service.
So....... the volunteers working on the free service aren't living up to your standards?
Do you see the problem with that?

lol. he is really thinking that his victim card gives him immunity against anything from anyone. a true white knight mounted in his moral high ground horse fighting against all scarecrows he created by himself and set them as enemies. has been a while i don't see someone behave like this. i confess this is utterly amusing.

too bad that everyone won't achieve whatever you thought everyone was trying to achieve.

His replies deliberately make no sense in relation to what he replies to
and if you're confused he'll add that you are the one not answering his points.
That's a mischaracterization. When you seemed confused, I offered to explain myself here You declined the opportunity. The offer still stands though, sincerely. Point out what you don't understand and I will explain. If have made a mistake, I will admit it and make corrections. I have done so in this very discussion.
he'll add that you are the one not answering his points.
Though they are flattering, I don't usually respond to personal attacks.
I do occasionally throw in a few facts, or point out that personal attacks are not cogent responses.. But that's just basic rhetoric.

Try refreshing or something. He appears as lvl 4 on SG as well

The Op is level 7, but it looks like you actually wanted to reply to thatdave who is a level 4 ?

We'll probably find out when he comes online xD
But by what you said it might be and a reply to the OP and not ThatDave.
I guess.. stay tunned for the next episode

In general I am not interested in responding to personal attacks.
However I want to point out two things to you.
Take a look at the thread. I report games there. Including games I am giving away. If I have missed one, let me know and I'll personally report it, if you can't be bothered.
Look at my giveaways, I include a copy/paste in every one. I have been complimented on it. And I work to refine it when I can. I even updated it today based on the new understanding that reports on these games are solicited. I include the current copy below, take a look at it and perhaps you will find some food for thought:
This same text goes in all of my giveaway descriptions. Updated 5/30/24
I understand that any game can be set to zero CV at any time. This isn't an issue for me because I'm not giving away games to farm levels. I came across this key and have no use for it. I don't like to waste things and if someone wants it, even if just for a +1 or out of curiosity, why not let them have it?
If you want to help curb problematic games:

Waiting for that, anyway I participate to a list of overpriced games :

At least it could help user to avoid some of these games.

This should be easy to implement.
When the game's price gets synced with Steam, if the current full price is significantly higher (200%?) of the historical minimum, they put it on the list.
e.g. Game's full price was $2 at some point and the new one is $30, then it goes onto the no CV list.
Heavily discounted games would still need to be reported, especially if there were discounted outside Steam, but this should significantly reduce the number of "Add Game to List" tickets.
