It is recommended to buy a Xbox360 control now?

Why would you wait if it will be identical? Dude, it's a controller. Don't overthink it. :)

Nobody can answer that question yet since nobody yet knows about new Xbox controller. Just get a wired x360 controller, it's not that expensive and it's compatible with pretty much every PC game dating from release of x360. And for others, there's xpadder, joytokey and pinnacle game profiler.

i kinda doubt they will replace xinput

I think that the 360 controller is as close to an industry standard for controllers as it gets. I don't expect the 720 controller to be any different aside from cosmetic differences.

Get the x360 one, it's cheaper too, no need to wait about 1 year to get a new controller :)
