To get trading cards, can I just launch hl2 and don't start a mission and get trading cards?

Also, does this apply to the other games too?

A lot of us have probably already played the game before trading cards came out for it. So why replay it just for a measly card when you can just idle?

Yes. I downloaded some community test chambers to play for Portal 2 to get the cards. But for something like Half-Life 2, if all you want is the cards, you probably won't want to replay the game. Just my opinion. I have plenty of other games I haven't played that I'd rather be playing.

Yes, as long as Steam shows you as "in-game", it will drop cards.

And idling multiple games will drop cards for all running games, even though it only shows "in-game" for one of the games.
