I have a couple of extra copies of what I call III (triple I) games, which are high-profile/quality indie titles. I want to give them away, but I want them to go to people that want them and will play them instead of farming them for cards. I know people are busy so I don't expect the winner to drop what they're doing and play it right away.

My first thought was to create the giveaway for the official game group since most people that want them also follow the game's official groups. I did check the game group's wish lists and the games are among the top wish listed games for its group. Not everyone that wants it is following the group, but it seems to be the best way to make sure the games get in the hands of people that really want it.

I've seen some forum giveaways that require people to have the games on their wish list. This sounds OK, but that excludes people that happen to check the forum when the post isn't bumped up. Pretty much any of the options that require forum participation will have this down side.

It would be nice to have a feature when making a giveaway that would require people to have the game wish listed to even see it.

I've also thought of just throwing them up as public giveaway and hoping for the best. They will be at least level 1 giveaways though.

I honestly think Level 1+ is fine. If you specifically asked me not to enter unless it was on my wishlist, I wouldn't. That said, I would really like to see a game from my wishlist. ;3 But anyways, yeah. I think the general populus is willing to listen to a request like that. My only exception is if I forgot to put a game on my wishlist, then I'd probably enter anyways. And add it to my wishlist. xD

Vote for whitelist....

Plus: you get to decide who can participate

Downside: you have to invest lots of time...

hope this helps :)

Thanks for the votes and replies so far. Even though I only have 5 replies, two of you have one of the games wish listed but neither are in the game's official group, so I think I'll scratch that idea (plus it has 0 votes).

what are the games? (dont bother checking my wishlist, the page alone will take a minute to load, then it will start downloading images)

If you really care about who should win your game then it's better to select white-list method with specific rules !

Here is an idea (dunno if it would work tho): Lets say you have 3 games to giveaway, give people 20 game options, ask people to wishlist a limited number of those games (5 at most, per example), and check people's wishlists and invite to a group those who already had the games on their wishlists or that they after you gave the options.

If someone wishlists more than 5 options, you exclude them.

Cause as said above, there are people that don't use wishlist or use it in a different way.

It might be too much work to do tho.
