Unpopular opinion but I think the level system only serves to divide the poor/those who buy few bundles & the rich/bundle addicts. The misconception that high levels equal greater charitable people is a misconception in my opinion. Most of these high levels are in exclusive give away groups, were 90% or more of their GA's consist of GA's only for groups or high levels, which basically turns it into more of a trading deal than charity. There are truly charitable people on this site, but the majority of high level users are not, or are deluding themselves that they are. Therefor I have to reject your question as it is my believe that anything above the already decadent level 10 would only further this divide. Even if it were "non-functional", I'm sure there would be exclusive steam groups for level 11 etc...
Personally I don't even notice the level system when doing GA's but I can understand the desire to want to keep leveling up if you already maxed out, though I strongly believe it would not better the site to increase the levels. Also this isn't a personal attack against you, just a general statement about levels. I actually think you're a pretty cool guy.

That's not an unpopular opinion, it's just not true, that's all. Most level 10 I know are making more public GAs than anyone else and Nate, like most of them, makes giveaways in public groups, not the Illuminati exclusive groups you seem to be picturing.
Also, how can it be trading when someone makes thousands of giveaways and has less than 200 wins?
Most users who are at level 10 keep making GAs, long past the point when they had anything to gain from it, and keeping the site active, which is more than can be said for most level 4 and level 5 (let's not even get into the leeching business and level 0).
It's statistically impossible to win enough games to make it a 1:1 trade for people who do reach level 10.
As for the poor people/rich people violins, I won't even get into that. It's too ludicrous to even be discussed.

never thought about the "non-funcional" level, but it seems to make justice to lots of users... i kinda liked the idea. have a bump!

Damn... 5 years ago I joined steam without a single decent game. This community brought everything I currently own to have fun properly. Push the sign in button (or similar because I really don't remember how someone join here) was the best decision ever made! I think I own so much (way more than a lifetime to play) that I'll have to count this as cat lives. xD

A bit of lore.
The common interpretation of the ancient legend as we all dwellers of SG know it, says that 10th level is the destination of a traveler, signifying the overcoming of The Nine Circles and fulfillment of the CV bar.
However, history shows us that reaching the "last station" does not bring satisfaction to many an SG user. Ancients were saying, "Post coitum omne animal triste est". Reaching the aim brings a sense of emptiness, missing of the direction. During their journey, from the factory day and onward, many a user develops a habit of reaching incremental goals, and this way of life, way of thinking is contested, if not betrayed and destroyed, upon reaching the pinnacle.
Some dwellers believe that they were happier when they were still in mid-way, with clear milestones in front of them, and either want more of the same, or reflect upon the days of old; some don't approach the 10th to not loose the feeling of something still waiting for them; others even feel betrayed by the creator. Indeed, why was SG created with particularly these values and not others? What may be difficult to accept is, that something had to be chosen to finish the creation of this world, to bring it to life.
Scholars (and probably, Students) have spoken of another understanding of the legends. According to early scriptures, walking the CV (which was often referred then as Circular Verse) is not a linear, incremental movement, but more of a dance. There is a hidden, orthogonal dimension which points in a sense, inward. Classic levels represent the the outer journey, which begins with a child wondering about this new world and making the first steps, and continues with a journey as a play. But what roles are users playing and how?
Behind the scenes of this play happens another, true journey. The Grand Quest; solving the Mystery. Finding the true self and through this, finding a clearer and more vibrant vision of this world, of life, of role, of everything! The journey with no end, with new and new dimensions to comprehend and contemplate for a traveler who learns to appreciate the way, the views, the beauty and the story.

While reading comments I remembered the prestige mode that some games have.
It would be interesting to have something similar on SG. Those who get to level 10 can activate prestige mode. Maybe recieve some specialised logo, color scheme or something in the profile that indicates this and go for the 10 levels again starting from beginning (but required CV is increased twice for levels). I suspect 5-6 levels would be easy and most would probably get that instantly, but if it's something a user cares about theres the thrill of going through levels back again.

There is no 11th level.
That's like if you were asking for a 666th level : most (if not all) of the people would stop their giveaways before it, and it would be bad for the site !
The site needs levels, but not every of them !, as you can see below it would allow your level to grow even much higher :
Level 9: $3,000 - $5,000
Level 10: $5,000 - $10,000
Level 12: $10,000 - $12,000
Level 15: $12,000 - $15,000
Level 21: $15,000 - $21,000
Level 42: $21,000 - $42,000
Level 242: $42,000 - $242,000
Level 553: $242,000 - $553,000
Level 999: $553,000 - $999,999
Level 3,592,705,193,005.21 : $999,999+

Haha bring on the Infinite SG level! I feel like I'll never make it to level 8 anyway.
But um seriously I guess it's a goal post type of thing. If you level 10 peeps keep moving up, how can we poor pleebs ever hope to become part of the Elite? (ok that wasn't so seriously but you get my meaning)

I think level 10 is great enough as it is. It already is a high bar to hit, and it still is a very small percentage of users here. Adding an 11th level might look neat, but at what point does the glamor of the "highest" level lose its luster?

I would not bound level 11 to CV or $.
The ones that reached level 10 without the shady ru shops and without multiaccounting on multiple freebie sites, should earn level 11 and the other ones, should be never able to reach it.
So in your case now...
... Congratulations to Level 11 :o)

What's your best guesstimate of CV needed, for the "mythical" eleventh level?
Also, any thoughts on why we only have 10 levels? I wouldn't mind more being added, even if they were "non-functional". I liked seeing my level go up ergo, I would create even more GAs then...
Some GAs as thanks for reading/answering.
