The awkward moment your gpu is considered "Minimum Specifications" ç_ç

The even more awkward moment when your gpu is 2GB just like the minimum requirement, but still slightly older model. -_-

I know this awful feel...
What's worse is that a 670 is MUCH better than the PS4/Xbone... :/

Mine is below the minimum for that game too, though when I started the launcher it set me to high/ultra settings lol 40-60fps not bad xD

Tbh I think it's just because I have a crappy monitor and because of this a crappy resolution xD

Could you please share hardware information about your laptop? I am trying to find a laptop that can handle those new games, thanks.

My laptop is nearly five years old - will be in July next year. I plan on buying a new one pretty soon (cant this year though because I am renovating my kitchen for Christmas) but I am going to go MSI again because this laptop has been the best thing I ever bought. Brought so much joy. Sure I could have bought a more powerful desktop PC but I travel a lot for work so its nice to be able to play games in the hotel when I get home from work)
I have a MSI GT 70 with 680M (4GB Vram) - yes just below specification but I have been able to handle all the new games with this card running all the new games at over 30fps (I believe my saving grace has been the 4GB VRam)
i7-3630Q
24GB Ram

Yeah these machines are beasts - the newer ones are amazing. I have a friend who bought a new one last month with the latest specs and his machine eats up the new games at 1080P 60FPS HIGH/ULTRA (like mine used to a until the new consoles came out and games specs changed)
Still I am perfectly happy to have it run a stable 30fps as they do now. I am not a frame whore. When it drops down below 30 then I know its time to upgrade pronto.
The amazing thing is with the last patch for Batman AK (which has been the most intensive game to date I played on this machine) I am getting a stable 30fps even when in the batmobile.
If this game is as well optimized as Mad Max I don't anticipate any issues despite being below the requirement on the card.

Thanks. I looked it up and there seem to be at least two different types of the same model, I found one that doesn't come with such huge ram and even that one is honestly out of my possibilities. Oh well, I guess I can't expect laptops dedicated for gaming to be cheap. :/
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah they not cheap to be honest - this one cost me $2200 five years ago. The new ones are over $3000 now sadly :( and as much as I would love to splurge on the new one but these kitchen renovations have exhausted the savings. Will need to wait for bonus cheque next year and then reconsider.
But I see it as an investment since I spend so much of my time on it. I hardly watch a television anymore. This is my entertainment system and my hobby and I don't mind indulging it a bit every now and then. Considering she is still going strong nearly five years later is a plus in my books!
It also helps that I don't have children ( I am nearly 40 years old). If I had kids that would be a different story eating up what disposable income I had to feed/clothe and entertain the little rascals.

I see it already! Your kids would take over your lovely MSI GT70 as well as your game library and you wouldn't even have a chance to look at it! Well, I'm in my 30's, I don't have kids either, but I have two nieces and they can cost us too lol

Ha! Good move, I will have to remember that trick. :D

Honestly, I never had one, so I don't know. I was thinking about all the new games pushing forward to higher specs and I thought it would be just easier to buy a console and that would make sure I wouldn't have any problems with games anymore, well at least until they release a newer console of course, but then I realized that I was always a pc gamer and I already have many pc games and it always kinda felt more practical to have just one device rather than more, so I stayed with pc and I guess it's too late to change that.

very bad idea, you don't want your kids to join the console peasants.
buy them a cheap gaming pc, show them the power of the master race, teach them the way of gaming
praise our lord Gaben.

Well said man, just think about it. You would really have to buy them either a console or their own pc, or you would face that awkward situation when you as a father yell at your kids: Time's over kid, it's my turn! :D

The thought of kids scares the living daylights out of me.
I just look at some of my male friends who all have 8-10 year old kids now and they constantly look tired and spent (spent in every way possible)
NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE not for me thank you very much!
I am happy to be their Peter Pan crazy old uncle

Just do what most people do now they use Ipad and video games and tv to babysit there kids.
Raising kids was never suppose to be easy nor is it for everyone, and with the population we have not i think we are both safe if we do not have kids.Though my reason are different in the end we both think it not a wise to have kids lol

lol
I think it because Uni and such like hospitals and so on,have convinced the masses they need it to survive,as if they do not convince you need health care or to go the a Uni to survive they would be flat broke.Truth is most people go to Uni and waste it in fields or areas that are not even in demand or what not so they end up with huge debt and looking for work lol.I know here in the states high tech stuff is in high demand but people still want to go to Uni for some small field that is hard to get into and so on just because it what they want to do and it pays well.

modded Skryim and Fallout New Vegas have both crashed on me for surpassing 2 Gb VRAM... and that's without using heavy visual mods
I've also only seen 1 game ever reaching 4Gb of RAM usage, modded HoI III, apart from that none has ever gone over 2.5

lol looks like everyone dreams dying....well im in the same boat

Fuck it. I hate life. Even if I buy a new GPU for $200 as planned (which I still can't fucking afford), it won't be enough for the minimum required specs, but also my CPU isn't good enough either.
At this point, I'm just... Ugh. I hate my life. Okay, time out. Fuck this shit. I'm just... fuck it.

That's right man, release that anger, go on, that's it, even punch a pillow if you have to!

This is the first time I see my CPU, AMD Phenom II X6 1075T, on the minimum spec list. Time to upgrade, I guess ... Should I buy FX-8350, would it worth the upgrade ?
Comment has been collapsed.
For the kind of money imo you better of getting an Intel instead of 8350.That also depends on your budget as that would also mean a new motherboard. The AMD CPU's usually fail because of it's really poor core performance as my old fx6300 struggled to keep GTA above 50fps unless i tweaked a lot,i bought a 2500k and now i can run a steady 50-60fps though the drop to 50fps usually due to country and grass.
Also according to specs for Fallout 4 my system can not even run it on ultra yet it runs just fine on ultra settings lol.I never go by specs if it can run it or not,i more or less use it as a guide to know what to expect. If i have say the minimum specs i know most likely it will not look the best if i want it to run smooth.

I have a GTX 870m which is similar to a GTX 760, so in theory I could run it in low settings at 1080p60, hopefully I can get a desktop in the next 3-5 years.
Comment has been collapsed.
Guess I can expect running it on low-mid settings on my FX-4350 and GTX 660.

Does my GTX 760 2GB and i5-4670 3.4GHz have a chance?
