Recently I obtained a copy of "Crysis Warhead". From what I had heard, it was one of the most taxing games on the market. I was reluctant to trade for it, but when I first booted it up, I was surprised to find that I ran it amazingly! I can't run GTA4 or SR3 though, so can anyone give me a good explanation as to why I can run Crysis and not those two?

What? Crysis is much more taxing on my graphics card than the other two games.

Because you're on a AMD processor for sure, or on a Core2Duo or so.

Crysis takes less CPU but more GPU part.

Also, it scales well with you hardware, only gamer/enthusiast settings are taxing.

Which resolution you're on?

1200x600

Which kind of screen has such a resolution?
But no wonders with it so low, that you can play the game good, even a budget card will do fine at low res.

My natural screen res is 1200x800, I'm playing it on 1200x600 for the cinematic effect.

Actually Crysis Warhead is a really well optimised game (by comparison to Crysis). If you try and play Crysis you'll notice a significant FPS drop despite having the same visuals :P

Crysis and Warhead are designed for the PC. GTAIV and SR3 got the short end of the stick when it came to development priority across multiple platforms.

Really? I hadn't known that, I just knew gameplay wise Warhead was better, not to mention I've been looking to get Crysis Wars anyways.

And Psycho is a boss.

I've done some tests myself on two different systems. Crysis came up short despite it being the older game. Warhead is overall an amazing game, but it isn't as "varied" as Crysis though :P That's my only problem with it.

What do you mean varied? Should I go buy Crysis?

I liked the length and the break up of the Crysis campaign more than the Warhead campaign which was all about action and then seconds later some more action (if you know what I mean). Warhead felt like an expansion in terms of length and the story was on a smaller scale compared with Crysis.

I would buy Crysis, definitely. But Warhead is still a great game :)

I really bought Crysis (well, traded for) because I loved Crysis 2 on the PS3, back when I was still a naive console gamer. I had so much fun ripping through hoards of enemies in the crysis suit, and I feel like Warhead is a little more open, if you spend all your time playing the first mission and never doing objectives.

Well there's something we had in common, former naive PS3 Crysis 2 gamer haha.

That's something great about both games though, there's always an extended fight waiting for you if you want to take it on. There are a couple similar extended fights in the first Crysis, but sure, there's more to fight in Warhead ^^

Even in Crysis 2 though, it still surprises me. Have you ever used the Gauss attachment on the rifles?

It's still quite demanding, but I reckon that's to do with poor optimisation across different rigs.

crysis is the best tool. warhead was better optimised and so not as good as crysis for kicking the shit out of your pc.

GTA 4 and SR 3 = bad ported games. the Crysis is less CPU demanding.
