Do you think this could be any useful?
Sorry, but not all of us can actually finish our backlog. I already have a big list of games that I have to go through. How I intend to actually complete the countless uncompleted games in my library is my business. The point of which you should stop caring is when you consciously go through with the giving of the game to a randomly chosen winner.
That being said, I have almost all of my won games played at least once.

Meh, I only enter give aways that I REALLY want to play so this system wouldn't be too bad for me.
Not that I'll win any of them but you know.... one can dream.

No. This site was created for everyone entered in a giveaway to have equal chances. There will be no changes to the odds.

+1 This, while i want to the one win the game actually is someone who actually play it (that remind me i still not play some of my win ) , There will alway be have someone who win just for the sake of winning. You can't avoid that
It best to avoid it by making whitelist ga , private or group and remind them that only enter if want to play and ... Hope that someone who want it will win

Create a private group with rules about this. That is what you do. If others feel the same, they will join and partake.
I throw games like stones, I don't even care who they hit, nor what they do with them.

I've been a bad boy, you may cast stones at me now :D

Public is the wild west and should remain as such. No need to implement a mechanism which can already be done using other methods (groups).
Comment has been collapsed.
That only works to an extant. Sure you can quick people from the group for not playing games but they can still get that first in as site rules only dictate that it be activated ag which point they already have the game. In a group like this youd probably just spend all your time managing members.

Well, there's a difference.
The 300P every 12h limit is an hard-cap, what I proposed (with the 300P hard-cap still in place) is a dynamic-cap, where people entering giveaways make the actual choice:
to get a slight percentage boost (0.3~0.6) on the giveaway or just spend all the 300P every 12h to get no bonuses (but having a high chance to win something because of the high number of giveaway entered).

One flaw in your calculations is using the idea that everyone gets 300p refilled every 12h.. points refill with giveaways being made (% of their points). With that said.. The site has been running for years and the system is simply fair .. it is based on the simple fact everyone gets an equal chance, your own preferences are not gonna change that.

The "flaw" can be easily worked-around with projections based on stats.
About SG, most likely it is the fairest among the giveaway sites so far, indeed, still I don't consider someone who spends every point at every hour of the day and someone who picks only the games that will eventually play sooner or later to be treated equally any fair.
Then remember this is just a suggestion, and the poll clearly stated that really few people in there actually want the system to be changed (even though probably someone didn't actually fully understood the system I proposed).

still you can't deny that this system encourages you to use all your points at a given time, or in other words encourages bots or bot like humans.
It's like budget at work, there is people spending all the budget even on worthless things just because they are given the money and others who spend only when needed, returning the excess.
I don't consider it fair to threat them equally, if this makes me a bad person, then be it.

there are different people...
I have won 2 giveaways in 2 days (Torchlight II and GTA V)... do I have to explain why I won't play Torchlight anytime soon??? xD
And when I won Natural Selection II, I promised to guy I will play it soon, while when I run game it always crashes... (tried a lot of things to solve it...).
So sometimes people don't play won games not because of their will.
Other people I wonder if majority (?) Are just game collectiors... and for them your solution could be better, but you will never limit them to join giveaways (impossible to categorise people).
That's why I would rather leave it as it is, with equal chance for everyone.

With a win like that, I hope you intend to pay back the good karma some time. :P

hehe I hear it the second time since I won :P
but lottery in my country is a big lie, I saw how they make it fake...
they record it for TV 3-5 times (with different numbers) and show to public the one that doesn't win :P
Poland <3 (but who knows if only)
but anyway the worser thing is I installed gta at monday and thought: ah NVIDIA made special drivers just for GTA 5, let's install it..
Since i tried it my computer crashes and I'm reinstalling system now XD

I have about 80% games that I never played.
Because I have no enough time and you can not promise games will be re-bundled when I have time.
It didn't means that I enter a random giveaway. I am not a bot.
All games I bought and I won, I will play it in someday.
Of course, if the description of giveaway request the winner write down comment or something like that, I will glade to play it first.
But what make you think it should "not" obtained games while it on sale?
What you should consider is how to block bots.

I see you edited your description to state that you want this site to incorporate using extra points to enter in a single giveaway.
Multiple times.....
I guess I did not understand your initial post to mean that, but now I have to say... NO! no no no no no NO!

NO, maybe.. Maybe not. As when I first read your description (within the time limit of it not being marked as edited), I do not remember all of those words being there. But stranger things have happened..

I swear I did not change anything since I posted this thread, mostly since I DON'T WANT MORE POINTS, absolutely, actually I'd like them to be less (and not stored, they work fine as they are).
I've just been talking about win chances, with a ~0.5 average difference between hoarders and gamers who actually want the game being gave away.
Comment has been collapsed.
It is whatever, I am not trying to dispute that. As I may have been mistaken. So I do apologize for any insinuation. But still, regardless of any editing or not. Just no. There are other sites that do that and do it rather poorly. And since this site does it rather well, no sense in breaking something good.

if you care about that , why give away the games to random people and not your friends that you know will play it?
trying to enforce something like that is pretty ridiculous , I like the giveaways on this site its awesome but there are always better games
and people don't have enough time to play everything they wish they could.

I actually give gifts to my girlfriend and pass already-owned bundle keys to my friends but when they already have them or i know they couldn't care less I have no-one to give those keys to.
Anyway, I was not talking about people that does not have enough time to play won games, I was mostly talking about people that clearly have no interest in have them (like people with 1000+ hours on TF2, CSGO, DOTA2, etc) and 90% of unplayed games in their library. And anyway I am actually NOT against hoarding, I'd just like that people that enter giveaways to actually play and enjoy the game would have slightly higher chances to do so.

Why enter for a game you have no intention of playing? People can have different reasons for entering (play, cards, collector, free stuff) but I can understand the desire of the gifter to see the game played. Chances should remain as they are, however.

Even though I rarely enter giveaways (I have 300p all the time) and I'd probably have the most of this, I don't think it's a good idea...I mean I also prefer it when people really play the game, but I don't think this would be a good idea and as bobofatt already said, it won't happen anyway.

While it is annoying that guys win with no intention of playing the games, it is equal opportunity.
Personally, I only enter games that look interesting, and would like to play myself, but then I can't always deplete the cycle of points I have to enter competitions.

As much as i dislike the people who just hoard games for the sake of ... god knows what ... growing E-penis size or something ..
I dont really see that thing working out all that well .
I pretty much enter only giveaways from my wishlist , and bunch of group ones ... so i would be happier if the guy who win a game that i Actually want would actually play it , but in the same time that system doesnt really combat the Hoarders ,,, so who care.

I always play the games I won because I entered the one I want to play or at least try to play it. And when the game turns out to be boring, I just leave it and play it some time later. Sometimes I play the one I won a few days or weeks later after I won.
So I think the change in odds is not a good idea since Im sure some people enter giveaway if they want to try play it not actually know the whole gameplay. But I can
t deny that some people just enter giveaway randomly because they want more games in their library or just want to increase total win.
HODOR HODOR

If someone wins a GA, it's really up to them if they play it. As long as they follow the rules and activate it on their account instead of selling/trading it as far as i'm concerned it's theirs to do with as they please.

I've seen a lot of people (mostly on public giveaway) entering giveaways and not even ever launching (or just card idling) the game they won. I'd like the games I give away to go to someone who really wanted them, not some scrub who doesn't even bother to install them.
Anyway, I think I had an idea which is fair for everyone (both fair people entering only giveaway they want and people indiscriminately entering every giveaway): to change the win chance based on the amount of points spent (or on the amount on entries) on the previous 12h (or whatever the 300P recharge time is).
For anything refer to the attached image.
My idea would be to simply add a certain amount to the 1 x chance. For example, if I enter a 5P giveaway and when it ends I have entered no other giveaways during the previous SG's 300P refill time, I'd have 1.995 x chance to win instead of just 1 x chance. On the other end, if I entered a lot of giveaways, let's say 200P worth of giveaways during the previous SG's 300P refill time I'd have 1.208 x chance to win. (With this system win chance multiplier will always be >1)
As you can see it is not a huge difference (even though the function can be easily heavily modded to suit other needs), but should help solving this annoying (at least to me) problem.
EDIT: Figured out that using "next X hours" could be badly exploitable by bots, simply changing to "previous X 300P refill time" will do the trick with no harm. (Changed also parts referring to that on previous text blocks)
