I have a "reroll check" pending for 8 days now and in general it seems that tickets takes much longer time to be resolved than they used to.

Sorry to say this, but 8 days is nothing :(
There are not many support members active from what I understand so tickets may take longer

72 others are in the same boat as you:

Another 80 requesting to be deleted.

Apparently this is a common topic in recent weeks, lots of people have been complaining about the lack of support.

Try to remember like many other forums and such that staff are also volunteers, they don't get paid to work.

Though I do believe they need to recruit new staff ... 3 Senior Mods are almost 4 months - 1 year since last visit:

One thing I think could help SG is to organize yearly moderators election; users that meet a certain criteria can nominate themselves to become moderators, and the community gets to vote for them, the winner(s) become new moderators on the site. Similar to how StackOverflow site self-moderates by organizing yearly elections.

They could even create new "limited" moderator roles specifically to handle certain common ticket types that don't require too much permission (like add-new-game, request-new-winner, etc.) without having access to more impactful permissions (roles that deal with users, suspensions, etc.)

I believe that would really lessen the burden currently on the limited number of mods.

We can use new mods, and i think electing isn't even a very bad idea, then we also get the mods we want, some of cg's choices were dubious to say the least..

Very appreciated but i don't think i want the obligations, I am only active because i am jobless right now, but eventually i have to get something again (or win the jackpot). Think it goes with many mods, their lives just getting in the way, but instead of anticipating i don't know what cg is doing because now it creates a lare amount of unanswered tickets.

Same thing about not wanting to become a streamer even though i got the games and the gear, i think it will take the joy out of a hobby.

additionally, it would be great if cg made an exclusive steam group for mods and made a giveaway a month, as sort of a "paycheck". More people would applt for the position when there is a reward involved

Perhaps the recent world situation is making it difficult for the people inside....
By the way, I do not recommend that you authorize me to do this, as it would be like having a "ZAP gun for a madman".
Let's hope that it will probably stabilize by the end of this month...🍵☕

In the end, since many months, only 2 mods can be described as active and one of them made (and maybe still make) a bit slower/break on sg (i would call it "burned out") and thats the result.

The rest of the mods do together maybe the half of one of the 2 active mods.
So count it as 1,5 - 2 mods active right now. Thats it.

Don't get me wrong, i understand why so many mods aren't motivated anymore but they should then step, complete, back and not be inactive for 6 months+. Maybe that would make it clearer for cg that something need to be done.

And it looks since years as cg don't care, as long as he earn enough with the site -from all the store ref, the ads and the patreon-.

https://www.steamgifts.com/account/settings/referrals , setting to NO could, maybe, activate more interest to change something from cg's side when enough do it.

you think that running website like this is cheap? what will happen when there is no money to run it? you think cg must use his own money for everything while you continue to use it and complain?

I think that he earn much more with the site as he need to pay.

When his income will getting lower, he will be forced to invest some time into the problematic areas, give more feedback (the mods problem is there since, at least 3 years... [more then enough time to do something, without pressure or stress, without to bring chaos in his reallife etc...]) and change something on the situation (at least the one from the mods and the autojoiners).

Maybe that the, honest, people, that give something and buy in the stores -and support with both the site- are "happy".
Or did you think the autojoiner accounts or the multiaccounters click on store links or ads (and support that way the site) ? I don't think so.

You focus on me, but that is unimportant because i am only one of a lot of users.

Believe me, maintaining a website isn’t as expensive as you think. This website uses steam API for a lot of information and outside source for the pictures, so it should be around 1500 to 3000 dollars a year unless it’s crazy about security. Otherwise, like Masafor is saying, all the store ref, the ads and the patreon- are more than enough.

The support team are all volunteers, it can takes months or years to receive a reply. I have a support ticket that is almost 7 months old myself.
It's best just to move on and forget about it.

This depends on ticket type. While reroll requests are usually handled within a few days, user reports can take several months up to over a year before someone finally takes care of them.

The problem is when it's a "reroll check" that exceeds the maximum 7 days allowed for delivery.

The situation is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I have a Reroll-Ticket waiting for nearly four days now. Those were always handled with the highest priority by support and took at maximum 24 hours to solve.
This situation can not continue on like this. The site is no longer working properly due to this.

To make it clear: I do not blame the remaining staff members. Not at all. They are all doing as much as they can and - without talking to any of them - I am sure that many of them are as frustrated as we are about the current situation.

I solely blame CG for this.
There have been requests for more support members for months, even years, now. By longstanding members of this SG community, by experienced members, by high level members who are here for years and know how the site works and where the site lacks.
All of those requests and complaints have been completely ignored by CG. It seems that he just does not care. At all.

To get things running smoothly again, we need at least 10 new staff members who are online daily. Hell, make it 20 new members to account for absence due to holidays, sickness, personal reasons etc. It is better to have too many staff members than to have too few.

If there would be an official thread by CG that staff members are needed and that he is looking for help I am pretty sure that quite a lot of us are willing to help out. But this radio silence, man, that is a really bad sign.

Edit:
My oldest open support ticket celebrates its second birthday next month...

The site needs, since years, more, active, staff members.

Different, experienced, users offered help over the years. None got more as "we will think/discuss/will see in the future when we search for new staff members" and nothing happened after that.

Yes, the few active mods are, for sure, frustrated about the situation and do what they can (as far as they are still motivated and not "gave up/burned out"), so this ones aren't the ones that are guilty on the situation.

CG don't care, hit it very well.
Not since a few weeks, since years.
And yes, it is very frustrating.

My oldest ticket, that would need action from CG. Nearly 4 years.

The oldest one that would only need a normal staff member is still nearly 3 years old. All the precious cv isn't safe... my tickets will be solved....at some point :-D (half joking).

But to be fair, Gaffi handled a lot of my tickets (around 600 are still open) and tried to reduce the old tickets too and as far as i heard had he done the same with the tickets of other users. The members in my group chat sometimes about that, so i know a bit about the solved tickets of other members in my group, special when we hunt down some multiaccounters and autojoiners.
And as far as i can say is Eefrit handling a good bunch of newer tickets.

Yes, that people help the site (and the mods) with reporting free/bundled games, people that use multiple accounts, autojoiners etc., is surely the problem...
facepalm

Ps.: When i send a report for a game, the mods get the barter site link, the source and the date, so they can handle it with the lowest ammount of work that is possible. If they would search for all by themself it would be more work...

Pps.: Two mods questioned me if i want to be a mod but i rejected

It would at least be nice to have a number/queue so we know where our place in line is, then we would be less in the dark and can see them getting to us. I have a ticket over 9 months old, i have no idea if it will ever get looked at.

No one works for free, unless they don't need to work at all.

And moderating is a job. I used to do it back in the day, but, that was when I had more free time and in another community that was not as big as this one. (10.000+)
