Buying just the first Stalker game or all three?

Get them all.

Whole series is good, but not everyone likes this sort of game... If it looks like fun to you, you could buy the first one, and see if you enjoy it. Then you have two days to decide if you want the rest... Good luck!

Buy them all, Clear sky is kinda the black sheep. But it's still worth playing through at least once if only for the story.

First is more atmospheric/scary. Pripyat is best in every other way, and the atmosphere is still good. Don't play the first one without modding it though. It's buggy as crap and poorly translated. Clear Sky is skippable, but good (again, only if modded.)

SoC has the best atmosphere, CoP has more freedom and space, i never played CS, but i will buy now i think

Shadow of Chernobyl: SHoC mod pack 2013 (Based on Oblivion Lost 2.2 and many mods for graphics overhaul included) ---
Clear Sky: OGSM v1.8+ (Old Good Stalker Mod) or Clear Sky Mod Pack 2012 v1.04 ---
Call of Pripyat: SGM 2.2 (Sigerous Mod) + AtmosFear3 + Absolute Nature + Absolute Structures, or SGM 2.0 Geonezis all in one repack

Or wait for Misery 2.0 mod

buy all 3 of them, the story is awesome just to not follow them,

i recommend you start with clear sky, is the hardest of the three and also kinda buggy but with all the patches is ok, since its a prequel, it will seriously help you follow the story better, it also has good voice acting, which is something cop doesnt have, then you go with shadow of chernobyl, since is mostly the same map, this time you wont get lose or something, then you continue with cop.

And I'm eating toast.

Thank god you made this thread or i would have probably not even checked :D! I just bought the first one (i think i will be playing it for a looong time before i beat it and want to play the next one). And i'm downloading the STALKER Complete 2009 mod and the Realistic weapons upgrade for the mod. They fix and improve a lot of things from what i'm seeing :3 !

Buy STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl and STALKER Call of Pripyat

I'm not going to lie, they're all basically the same game, with practically the same graphics/plot/locations/enemies/gameplay - so you might not want to play them one after another (wait a few months). But I really enjoyed them all, so go for the trilogy!

Get Shadow of Chernobyl first. It is the best one. The other 2 go downhill from there, in my opinion. Only get that one, because if you don't like it, at least you wouldn't have wasted money on the other 2.

imo all of them are good, very atmospheric and still look good.

I haven't played them in a while, but I remember enjoying them a lot back when they came out.
