It is.
I always use it whenever i get new games :D

Do what I do.
Find a "light" game (by light I mean something that doesn't need your entire computer - I use Super Hexagon)
Go to steamcommunity.com/id/ YOUR NAME /badges to see what games you still have card drops in.
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\ LIGHT GAME HERE
find steam_appid.txt and back it up. Then open it up and change the number to the appid of the game you need card drops in.
Now run the game and wait.
Tada!

Or, instead of wasting your tie with that, you could run idle master which is doing the exact same thing automatically for all games that still need card drops in your library.

Do you actually have card drops waiting? It doesn't create cards for you, it only gets the drops for the games you have remaining cards.

The only time IM doesn't work for me is when the cookie it uses go stale. I took the cookie from Chrome but if I use another browser for a while or log in to Steam from work, then the cookie doesn't allow IM to log in under my name anymore. When that happens I just need to log back into Steam with Chrome and it starts working again.

The point to posting the method was - if you're not sure if it's safe, you can always do it manually.
I personally don't like using third party programs to muck around in my Steam account, so yeah.

Do you even have any concept o how many thousands of people everyday are running Enhanced Steam?
Why would you be worried about this guys other software. Anyway, for people who aren't too moronic, nor alarmist, you can read the open source code yourselves and see exactly what is happening.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes I do, Einstein. I work in IT security. I can name any number of services that were "perfectly" safe until big enough number of users made the attack profitable. As for reading code, LOL. How many people are capable of reading the code and hunting for any hidden surprises? How you know the code you read is what you download, unless you go as far as compiling it yourself? How you would avoid depository switch attack?
Please, saying "it's safe because it's open source" is utterly laughable, Heartbleed was in open source code too and somehow no one (read - millions of often very good programmers) spotted it until it was too late. Only morons download untrusted stuff from the net, especially where passwords/programs with a lot of value are concerned. "Open source" means nothing, it's illusion of safety, nothing more.

Then if you're not as incompetent as you claim, inspect and compile the code yourself. It's annoying to see dipshi- people who come on SG and insult jshackles whom has made both this and ES for the greater Steam community and the benefit of all.

I tried but i think is fixed :\ does not work for me :C

Idle Master does the exact same except it automatically closes the app once you have your cards and start the next one. That way you can leave it unattended while you're sleeping or at work.

Yes and no. No, jshackles isn't going to steal your Steam account or anything. Yes, it is technically probably against some part of the ToS. To date though I'm not aware of a single person who's been punished for using Idle Master, SAM, or any other idling method to get cards.
If you're afraid of something happening to your Steam account, don't use it, but the program itself is safe. You can even view the source on Github and see exactly what it does.

Yes, it's totally safe. Just use common sense and don't join any VAC servers while it (or any third-party application really) is running.
Comment has been collapsed.
100% save :) if you idle another game for example csgo but playing tf2 server think that fine, cause never got banned or kicked. Think just if you dont get reported your fine
Comment has been collapsed.
No 100%. It's a risk because it's against the TOS of steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
Did you even bother to read it? Using IM might be "safe" for now, but don't come crying if Valve decides to stomp on that. VAC bans and revoking on Steam is always done with delay, in waves of identified abusers, so argument "it does nothing now" holds absolutely no water.
Comment has been collapsed.
LOL, clearly you've never actually read the TOS, nor understand what a "VAC ban" is.

Been using it for a couple of months now, haven't noticed anything fishy/harmful so far. Works like a charm.

Did you set it up correctly, copying your browser cookie in the settings.txt file?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes I think it is. I've idled with it for over 40 games :3

Gotta love the gaming community. We find work-arounds to make it easier for us to do nothing. :-D

Speaking of which, I have some games I need to idle for trading card drops...brb.
