I have the Galaxy S2 plus. I would choose it over the windows phone, as my ex had that phone, and she had many problems with it. The volume button was all screwy, and the windows phone OS has a lot less freedom. The only downside I can think of for the S2 Plus is that if you're not careful, and you let your phone overheat and/or apply too much pressure on the screen, it will look like there's a dot of an oily substance under the screen. If you have OCD, this will definitely make you get a new phone. It doesn't really bother me though.
Also consider this:
Android has humblebundles :3

If I just use it for texting (and the occasional 10 minute phone call), I unplug it around 7:45 AM, and get home at 6:00 PM. Battery still has ~45% life left.
If I'm playing games, less of course. Depends on the type of game (how much processing power it needs) and how long you play the game. If you play angry birds or something of the sort, battery life shouldn't get shortened too much. But if it's a 3D RPG game or something, then be prepared for probably half the battery life.

If you have Windows 8 on your home computer, having Windows Phone 8 creates a really nice streamlined experience between the two. I would probably choose that, especially if you're not worried about not having access to a huge app store. Also, if you're big into music on your phone, Xbox Music is a nice cloud-based service that you can use to automatically sync your music. Hope this helps a bit, good luck!

Go for the Windows Phone 8, but do not choose HTC 8x, Samsung ATIV S is much better.
WP8 is increasing it's market share and it will do so in future, bigger companies started to look at this OS and more apps will come I'm sure.
Microsoft is checking apps and there are no malware/spyware/trojans in the shop (you cannot say that about Android)
When you install lots of applications WP8 will not slow down as Android.
Hope it helps in making good decision ;)

I've been using the Galaxy XCover for some time but now it seems obsolete. Even more, the phone freezes from time to time, shuts itself down and there are times when I can't call anyone without receiving a call first. I press the dial key and the phone keeps displaying that the call is being made, but there is no dial tone.
I was thinking of changing it with something more recent, but I am kind of fed up with android, so I'm not to keen on going for an Android device again. I thought that I should try other OSs' like Windows or iOS, but I would firstly like to see a few opinions of their performance based on your experiences with your own devices.
So, if you have some spare time and wish to share your thoughts and recommend me a certain device, please do.
P.S. I only use my smartphone for light web-browsing and to listen to music while on the go. So there is no need to go through the most expensive gadgets on the market.
Thank you for your patience !
**#Edit: I have yet to make a decision between the "HTC Windows phone 8X" and the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus. They seem to be pretty good and they have the same price now, which is fairly accessible.
