Adding instead of sending over E-Mail

Thank you for making this topic. It reminded me to go back and check one of my previous winners who keeps a private profile. He was unprivate for a change and now I know that he actually did activate the game he won from me.

I usually add people when I can't check their profile, just to make sure that the game gets activated. If they've activated everything in the past and their profile is public, I usually just add the key to the giveaway and send them an email letting them know where to check (and how to get in touch with me if there's a problem, although nobody has ever actually contacted me about a problem).

Adding people directly on steam gives you a lot more control and makes sure that your winner actually receives the gift, which is especially important with keys. It's generally preferable but it's also a lot more work. I tend to go for the lazy option most days. :p

doesn't accepting & activating gift automatically adds them to your steam friendlist..?

Because some people have profile opened just for friends, and I want to see that winner does not have the game yet, and that he will redeem the gift on his account.

I prefer to add people on steam and send gift that way ... duno no particular reason , just how i roll .

I used to add to make sure the keys didn't end up in email limbo, and get it directly to them.
But now, idk, force of habit sometimes.

People want to collect friends. :)
