though I don't use extensions on steamgifts it would be cool if it somehow displays the description of the giveaway when you hover it or something
sometimes giveaway creators write descriptions though some of them are just good luck or it is a steam key/humble link etc
some of them write that the game is region locked, so you can avoid to enter or they wrote something they want you to read, like an anouncement or they want you to check their stuff (videos, art, etc)
edit:
My mistake, I thought it was a button to enter a giveaway, not all of them. I should learn to read

Sorry, I'm not skilled enough. My first intecourse with jquery and javascript in general started yesterday, just to create this extension. You may use it in conjunction with Easy Steamgifts (not made by me, obviously, it has a lot of features but lacks auto-join since website redesign).

Just use Steamgifts++ in that case. It allows you to open the giveaways in a popup windows without leaving the main page.

I stopped using it when SG v2 came out and forgot about it
thanks for the reminder

I think, it's not fair that using add-on , program or "auto-something"... that is simply "Cheating" !

Those kind of scripts are the cancer of Steamgifts. Distributing them is like spreading a virus.
Comment has been collapsed.
if someone is lazy to the point of not wanting to take 3 seconds to do the 2 required clicks needed to join a giveaway and skipping reading the description I've typed, then I don't want these people anywhere near my giveaway. Plus, these kinds of scripts are against the rules.
Anyway, I've pretty much stopped making public giveaways because of those fucktards. In the meantime, my blacklist is slowly expanding...

The worst part is, sometimes I don't notice the descriptions stating to comment something meaningful and then i facepalm

Says network error
im reporting it and running virus scan if OP doesnt reply
Comment has been collapsed.
When does it say so? After clicking the button? And there are no viruses, you can check everything by yourself (chrome extensions are stored in C:\Users\<Your_User_Name>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions (if you're using windows and didn't change default folder). It's actually very small script.

If the addon would autojoin only for wishlisted games, that would be nice.

Can you please Ban that person ?
Also can people stop joining every giveaway ever for the sake of ... i dont even know why anymore...
And just be a normal human being and join for games they Actually plan on playing ?
Also yeah , ban that guy for posting what is literally a bot in the forum .........
Comment has been collapsed.
I h8 to much ?
So everyone complains that there are bots , and then some guy just Throw out a bot in the forum ... and everyone is cool with that ?
Also everyone blacklists me cause im h8 to much on what exactly ? Cause i dont like people just hoarding w/o even having to spend Any effort in doing so ?
I mean your whole comment is pretty pointless anyway ...
I figured out that anyone who says anything here that harm the fragile feelings of the people here gets blacklisted ...
And if you think that just stating an opinion is h8ing , i guess you go check the dictionary :)
Not like i really care bout that , its funny to me when i see yet another forum troll have blacklisted me cause i harmed his sensitive soul in some way ...
Comment has been collapsed.
That is mostly what i've been doing (what you plan on to, that is).
Sucks that some level 0 and etc. people who are not at fault don't get to join, but...
Between that and chasing a possible bot/alt/whatever for days to give him the gift, etc. i've stuck to leaving lower requirements for users that join through private (puzzle) giveaways, etc.
Careful now, you've used the leecher word. Brace yourself... to be called an elitist. ;)
According to some, leechers simply do not exist under any circumstances whatsoever on SG, only on elistist minds. ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Ya, that's why i said level 0 and etc. ;)
But like i also said, i'm still doing it that way, regardless.
For the record though, i couldn't care less if someone even wins 100 games and doesn't give a single 1 back.
I still wouldn't consider one user in that situation a leecher, just as long as he doesn't:
Now if someone combines 2 out any from list above (and some more i could list, but those were just off the top of my head), that's a whole different story. ;)
But that's just my 2 cents, ofc. To each their own.
P.S.: I couldn't care less about those too. ;)

It takes 2 clicks to enter a giveaway. Unless you're the kind of dumb user who enter everything in the hope of winning anything, instead of entering for games you're actually interested in playing, this should not be that many clicks anyway.
Comment has been collapsed.
Unless you literally own every single game you ever plan on playing, in which case I don't see the point in entering random giveaways anyway, I don't see why it's ever efficient to enter every random thing on page 1. Especially not since a lot of popular games have at least several hundreds to thousands of entries, so you're basically wasting your points on a chance so slim it's barely worth your time. Instead, by investing a few seconds/minutes of human effort, you could improve your chances of winning AND winning something you actually want, significantly.
But go ahead and waste your points on GAs with inflated entries while I collect some games with much better odds :)

Agreed.
People who use the bot are going to end up with a ton of crappy games that they are never going to end up playing.

I am personally against blacklisting unless it's really really bad. Like sending people porn when clearly told not to you know who you are.
I wouldn't blacklist this dude; but a lot of people here on Steamgifts hate auto-join bots. And lots will blacklist you. But it's to late now though.

The person pretty much already knows it; but the fact of the matter is that it just simply will not affect the OP; how so you might ask?
You see most forum dwellers (active users) usually post their giveaways hidden in the forums, in a form of a post or thread. Anyways only the forum dwellers would see this; and because most forum dwellers usually don't make public giveaways it gives the OP the upper hand. Because the bot only joins public giveaways; thus bypassing most of the blacklists.

you do realise that most people don´t post in the forum, but are reading it? so he may wander on much more naughty lists that you think
Comment has been collapsed.
I for one have no qualms whatsoever explicitly expressing my right to welcome him to my list. Think he knows which too. ;)
Sad to do it on easter day, especially since it's been a while for me (i've been trying to be nicer :P), but oh well...

Here ya go
"what you do is what's pathetic to me, constantly making spam threads and always asking people for help while you never help anyone back. Of all your 1000+ posts I could not find a single helpful/ constructive one and this reply has just convinced me that blacklisting you was a great decision."

Public ground is pretty much wild west. Kinda shame as it had some nice pros on it. But you are not the only one who has turned away from it.
Comment has been collapsed.
How do i help flag or report this? Do what you want OP but don't encourage it.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't like them either; but it isn't against the rules. In the rules it says nothing about not allowing bots. And on top of that Google would probably not remove it from the Chrome store. Even with an overwhelming about of flags because they would look at the source code and see that it's not illegal.

You can use it exclusively on your wishlist page if you wish (if you installed extension earlier, it may take some time to update itself).

Still wish there was capta-code. the 3 digit number one would be fine.

Can any official please leave a comment if that addon is allowed or not ?

Thx! As I thought.Would be great if they'd block such stuff.

Invite only except for all those giveaways that are public, for example. I do not understand why you called hawking90 abuser.

As much as I believe you had good intentions OP, wanting to share it with community etc, I can see it getting you on shitload of blacklists. Even if not prohibited by sites rules Contributors and general community here tend to hate all kind of bots and autojoin scripts. Only ppl who will be greatfull will be lazy leechers who don't create GAs themselves and you will in no way profit from this gratitude.

To quote bobofatt from another thread:
Actually, the new Terms of Service states:
- the Content is not spam, is not machine or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
cg says this does include bots that will enter and/or comment for you. So it's technically against the rules, and I've shut down some of the threads I found linking to them, but I don't know what, if any, action we may take against users. Please don't submit reports on people you suspect are running these bots.
So yeah, contrary to what others have been saying this IS against the rules.
Comment has been collapsed.
That comment is a bit ambiguous.
cg says this does include bots that will enter and/or comment for you.
Out of three possible combinations (enter, enter and comment, comment) only two (which involve commenting) are "generating Content".
Pretty sure automated entries themselves (morality questions aside) are not covered by this.

Hello, I made a simple extension for Chrome to automatically join every giveaway from a main page (or page 2, 3 etc.). I waited for Easy SteamGifts to be updated for some time, now decided to make it myself (it's simpler than easy steamgifts by far and has just one function).
