Until the end of the month, the homepage will be showing less results per page (20 instead of 50), and giveaways will be displaying fewer comments per page (15 instead of 40). For further information, please click here.

Edit: Resolved.

Won't this result in more bandwidth being consumed because for each page, the user is loading not only the giveaways and comments, but also the headers and footers? Not an expert, so I wouldn't really know.

Also, that image. XD

It's true that this would take more bandwidth if people still wanted to view the same amount of content that they currently do, but the vast majority of entrants to giveaways aren't reading any comments, so this saves the bandwidth of 25 comments per entrant, twofold if the entrant leaves a comment themself, minus the bandwidth of headers and footers per page of comments for the few actually reading them. Overall I'd expect it to be a saving.

Thanks for clearing that up. (Endless scrolling ftw!)

Making the site load next page when you arrive to the end even if you don't want to, or you only want to see last forum comments; isn't that PART of the problem?

I was about to make a post about turning off seamless for this very reason. Turn off seamless, hide giveaways you've entered, hide red giveaways, and only show giveaways you have the points for. I'm not sure how SG+ polls data, but hopefully this'll all help.

EDIT: And make sure your custom filters are up to date :)

After checking the script, I'm pretty sure that it fetches complete sites and then does post-processing, including hiding stuff. So that does not really help. But turning of seamless does help of course.

But indeed, introducing an API for the addon could help. And using JavaScript and AJAX to build the page might as well.

It definitely happens in post after fetching all the data, as you can see it sometimes when loading is slower, and if endless scrolling really exacerbates the bandwith problem, I'll turn it off.

I was really curious about the numbers recently, and I feared you'd have to work around it at some point. It shouldn't affect most users anyway. Good luck lowering the bills. :)

I can see users posting threads asking about just this over and over again. I'd suggest making this a Sticky.
