The second day of the Steam Awards! The giveaway vote for day one went to Portal 2. Over 400 people voted, we'll find out on New Year's day which game will get the award! ^^

For now, a new award is up for the vote! Again, to keep it in SteamGifts style, the question is not who deserves the award, but which game you would like to see as a giveaway (and if owned, think of a friend). Today this question is even more yeah-yeah-I'll-still-vote-for-the-best due to two free-to-play games and a game that seemed to be given away before, but let's try and make the best of it. The community wishlist will be taken again as a indication of popularity, but as turned out yesterday it is not a very good one. ;) Alright, enough talk - below are the nominees that are up for the vote today!

Day 2: The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award

This title didn’t have a huge marketing machine behind it, but you found it and loved it. Then you told your friends about it. And they loved it. And now that little game that could is about to win an award… but always remember: you totally found it first.

Nominee Community wishlist position (23-12-2016)
Euro Truck Simulator 2 #186 (DLC, due being in a giveaway before)
Paladins #201 (DLC, due free-to-play)
Starbound #82
Stardew Valley #16
Unturned #202 (DLC, due free-to-play)

Voting can be done until December 24rd, 10 AM PST. Click here to vote (on Steam), you will also get a trading card by doing so. :)

And the voting is closed! Stardew Valley won with 41% of the 302 votes!

Let's move on to day three!

Yes :( Also it might be that the current voting deadline will be extended due the downtime, but we'll see!
We have our own (pre-)voting here now! ^^

None of these games are really niche and unheard of enough to fit the bill,so i'd say none.

At least ETS2 had to go through Greenlight, not experiencing much popularity in the beginning.

I suppose so,but by now it's pretty damn huge.

That's the point of the award though... It wasn't popular and now is

Well, the name of the award is "i thought this game was cool before it won an award"
and i'm pretty sure ETS2 has gotten some awards already,i could be wrong though.

No, your right, that's actually true: The Sim of the Year 2012: Euro Truck Simulator 2 -- this should actually completely invalidate this game to be even considered for this award lol (or you might argue that you were playing it even before that xD)

Yeah, although I think most would still prefer the base game first (like me) ;)

I was bit surprised by all the games chosen for every category XD I also am surprised to see no binding of isaac rebirth anywhere! Plus dark souls needs more love in there X)

i voted starbound, cuz it was the only one i'd ever heard of. considering this is the category for obscure games that became wildly popular, that seems ironic.

Seems we already have a winner, on yesterdays poll the numbers one and two were very close.. Still everything can change, about 7 hours left to vote!

Stardew will obviously win, but I don't like it. Neither Eurotruck. So I went to Starbound on Steam. And here; cause I wouldn't mind actually trying it XD

Of course there's a very high likelyhood I find it boring too, I just don't know unlike those other 2 since I haven't played it XD

I have no idea what happening here... I didn't vote yesterday because of the ddos attack and when I wanted to vote now all my accounts have already voted / done the discovery queue for today and the cards are already in the inventory. One of them voted for something I definitely didn't vote for. Unturned I mean if Valve decides to give me those free cards without effort thats fine for me but don't change the way it works while it's running. Took my 15 minutes of early morning dizzyness to figure out why there are no new cards dropping.

Edit: At first I thought it was their way to apologize to those people who couldn't vote yesterday because Steam was down but that the vote was already cast makes that seem unlikely.

Edit 2: I found out what happened. See comment below for explaination

Hmm that would mean that the Steam awards are rigged? Would be quiet the news :P Can it be that your account(s) got compromised somehow? Or an accidental vote? Seems strange otherwise that something like this would happen..

No it means that Archi has added a new feature to ASF that does the discovery queue for you and also votes (apparently randomly). Took me a while to figure out what was happing but now it makes sense.

I was starting to wonder if my alts were compromised but it seemed strange that someone would get access to my account just to vote and do the discovery queue :D

Would have been strange indeed :P Good that you figured it out though (no more worries about rigged elections and compromised accounts lol) and you can still change the vote to a better one ^^
