Or should I go with the cheap 15€ ones, since there aren't any decent ones in my zone? ;-;

yep, the ease of going into game with controls already set-up and visual displays for things such as quick-time events is really worth the $$$. Also if you want to use it with your 360 (or a friends) you're set. I use mine alot, nice for casual games can sit back and enjoy without hunched shoulders.

get an xbox one. no point getting any other. even if you don't have an xbox it's still worth it.

also i would recommend getting the wired one. Cheaper and more practical and the cable length is more then enough

Get a cheap USB one. I use a $20 one from steelseries, but it feels sturdy rather than cheap, despite the cost.

You can find a wired USB 360 controller for about $20 if you look hard enough. I recommend it.

I bought a wireless Xbox 360 controller, Plug n'charge kit, and the wireless receiver. So, if I want to play on the couch, I can go wireless, or play wired and saved on battery in the chair. Everything just works.

Offbrand 360 controllers exist that you can buy, work okay from what I've read for half the price. I've tried cheap and I've tried an emulated PS3 controller. Nothing beats a 360 controller for me.

I only find them at 59€, that's why I asked. So many money for a controller, however if it lasts long enough to compensate the price, sure it's an investment.

How do you use a wireless one with the plug 'n' charge kit? I'm searching for info and it sounds like that doesn't work. Unless you still connect it wirelessly but just use the plug 'n' charge kit for battery?

Yeah, I just leave it plugged in while playing. I just take the batteries out when I'm not running on them.

I tried doing this with mine, didn't work. I'm assuming you have the driver for wireless controllers installed, I tried the wired thinking since it was using the plug 'n' play it would act like it was wired, but sounds like that's not right. Do you have the wireless receiver plugged in at the same time?

Edit: Well I wasn't able to get it working with either driver. Oh well, thanks anyway.

Yup, I keep the wireless receiver plugged in and use the plug n' charge plugged up to the 360 controller. Works fine for me.

I thought you bought a battery-powered controller for half the price, since the chargestation would cost you more.. You can always buy a wireless one, I hope there are any

Xbox has a wireless in it. The receiver is specifically for other devices (Mainly PC). Charge kit does not include one. It simply allows you to charge a rechargeable Battery and/or the ability to keep a constant charge to the controller (even without any type of battery installed). Its function is power, not transmitting controller input. No charge kit has this ability, without a receiver. The port in which this is plugged into, is not capable of transmitting those inputs. It often gets confused as transmitting inputs, because when plugged in it "Looks" like a wired controller.

I did buy the receiver separately, as noted in my first comment. I bought both of the accessories on Amazon. The controller was purchased new on eBay for $26.

Most AAA games are made to be used with Xbox controller too instead of just a key board and a mouse. A wired one will only cost like $20

Absolutely worth it. Almost ever game is made to work with it now a days. I use it for everything except fps, as im sure most people do as well. The controller partnered with xpadder is just the best. Can play flash games with your controller as well with that.

totally worth it. I have bought XBox 360 gamepad(wireless) about a year and a half back, and today I don't know how I managed to play properly without it. best gamepad as of today, if you ask me. IMO-worth the investment over the cheap ones.

Agreed with above, bought 2 wireless ones and the reciever from Amazon sales (about 27 bucks each with free shipping) and they are fantastic for playing games on the couch.

Bought a wired one to try out the controller on my pc (it is cheaper HAHA). It definitely has its uses but don't need one to live. I suggest borrowing a friends or getting a cheap one

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

about "needing one to live"...well, it depends which games you play, ofcourse.

if you play only FPS games-totally un-needed.

if you play racing games, dual-stick shooter games, sports games(nba, pes etc.), platform games(super meat boy...)-it's almost a must. totally different experience.

i do as him and seriously 5-10 minutes of your time to set it up is not bad im sorry but i despise xbox so yeah.

ive always had sony and nintendo consoles ever since their start so for me a xbox 360 controller would feel wrong

5-10 minutes of setup vs immediate plug n play...

its not about whether you like it or not, its about convenience, i don't have an xbox 360 anymore, but i'm so glad i still have the controller.

actually its not so immediate. you need either the wireless adapter or a certian plug which all costs EXTRA. where as all you need to play the ps3 controller comes with it. just use motionjoy

it is immediate, there are usb controllers. using wireless to game in my experience isnt a smart thing to do

I used MotionJoy for a long time with my PS3 controller before buying a 360 controller. Worked fine.

Its not so bad using PS3 controller. It pretty much depends on whether or not you already have one PS3 or X360 controller. If you have to buy one though, i would prefer 360 (I have tried with both).
360 controller tends to be very often well supported by individual titles, which actually use the correct button callouts. To get button callouts for PS3, you usually have to mod the specific game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

MotioninJoy can emulate the X360 controller so you don't have to map anything at all. You can play with the PS3 controller as if it would be a 360 ones.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah, which is why both controllers are very good. X360 gets a slight edge, because the button callouts usually match X360 and not PS3 (A B X Y versus X <Circle> <Square> <Triangle>). Small quibble if your used to both controllers. Some users might be a bit confused. about the same adjustment to getting a 3rd party controller anyway though

also for 1 i hate the layout of the 360 controller. never cared too much for 360 so never got used to the controller so for me it is easier playing with a controller im comfortable with. and that outways everything, being able to enjoy playing how i want to.

I bought this recently, Chinese copy version of the 360 controller. It's a cheap controller but the reviews say they work pretty nicely. I'd tell you how well it works when I receive it. The tracking number says it's still in Shanghai so it's probably be another week+.

XBOX controllers are only for driving/pilot games and maybe depending on preference, GTA style games. Any other game is much better with a M+K combo. I would recommend an official XBOX or PS3 controller. (PS3 works if you use Xpadder for the PC. It re-writes the buttons on the PS3 controller to XBOX controls. Personally, that would be my choice since i prefer the PS3 controller.)

Mostly, yes.
I have an older Logitech Rumblepad and it doesn't work with SOME newer games that use XInput. However, the opposite is true for the older games, some that use DirectInput won't work with the 360 controller -- there may be a driver update for the controller to allow it to work, but I'm not sure.
Beyond that you'll have to use some sort of software for compatibility. I use XInputEmu3, but x360ce is good too.

YES. I don't have a 360 but use the controller for games like GTA, Tomb Raider, and Indie games that support it. Have had it for 7 yrs, and still working great. Biggest benefit is compatibility and a lot of games will not just says "Button 3" it will actually show the icon of the 360 controller (A,B,X,Y, etc.)
