not exactly a series: The Darkening, Starlancer and Freelancer
hopefully Star Citizen can fill that void

Freelancer was my favorite game as a child, i am really hoping something good with Star Citizen, but it is more an Wing Commander than a freelancer.

Psychonauts! (no point to discuss - just one of the best games ever)
Other than that:
Paraworld (the Army-Management System was fantastic - should've catched on)
Titan Quest (still one of the best Action-RPGs)
Sacred (not the shitty so called third game that has nothing but the name in common)
Darkstar One (I really liked the game)

The guys who made Titan Quest just release another ARPG called "Grim Dawn" that looks pretty awesome... http://store.steampowered.com/app/219990
EDIT: Appears to be in early access still... lots of great feedback already though.

-A good Standalone single player MechWarrior style game. MechWarrior Online is OK, but I would like some objective based missions, not just playing against jump PPC abusers online.
-Warlords 2/3: Battlecry
-Warcraft... something akin to WC3, with some RPG and RTS mixed together. I liked the heroes aspect.
-StarCraft2 to be finished in under a decade... wtb Protoss campaign
-Homeworld 1/2
-Unreal Tournament, but not a cartoony crap version like UT03/04
-Half Life needs a new installment

Wonder how that'll work indeed. At least Nordic Games aren't abandoning the franchise, as they're hard at work stripping GfWL out of Guerilla and fixing things.

3d platformer games, such as Conker, Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooie, Psychonauts, 3d Raymans, Beyond Good and Evil, Kameo, Jak and Daxter and all those for PC and I'm happy...all of these are way more fun than any 3d Mario I've played.
Bring back those games!!

Literally everything i thought of was already said, but i'll post my list just for the hell of it.
In no particular order:
Crash Bandicoot
Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth
Legacy of Kain
Zelda
Spyro
Honestly Legacy of Kain games look good enough to play without the hd rerelease and the story is pretty much completed, so i don't know if anything sensible could be done with the series, but another game of the similar quality would be great :D

Mechwarrior. Not a crappy MMO F2P crap. I want a proper stand alone version like MW2 though MW4 but obviously newer graphics and of course decent net code. Mechwarrior 3 was my favorite, generally I think they got most of the stuff right in that game then they did in MW4.
Dune (or what it Dune 2, can't remember been a long time). Was a fun RTS game years and years ago.
X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Yes I know the old was with slightly upgraded graphics was just released on GOG, but I want all the old missions with new missions, todays graphics and physics and all that stuff. The ability to fly around in more craft too.
Steel Battalion along with its freaking cool joystick setup. I never had a chance to play it or play with the controller but it looked awesome.
Steel Thunder. It was a really really old C64 Tank Simulator by Accolade. I really enjoyed that game. Yes I know there is world of tanks but I hate MMOs. I want a stand alone game with multiplayer that me and friends can just jump in, shoot each other and have a blast and not worry about having to grind for hours just to get some ammo and repairs.

Ya thats it, I remember those 2 names for the game I used to play. Sooooo long ago. Floppies died for it long ago and could never find another copy of it locally.
There is one called Dune Legacy that is being worked on right now, it actually uses the data files from dune 2 but gives it more modern graphics and stuff. Its a fan backed thing but would be interesting to see what an actual studio behind it would make it into. Its on sourceforge.net, gonna give it a try some time. Hopefully bring back some good memories.

Whether it be a reboot, remaster, prequel, sequel, or (why not) pre-sequel.
For the sake of fairness, try to limit your lists to 5 franchises.
I would also like to know why you picked what you did, and what kind of treatment you'd like done to it.
Here's my list:
Although wonky at times, this is a very entertaining "whodunit" kind of deathmatch game. The sequel the devs were making definitely deserved to have their kickstarter get funded, but sadly it didn't, but i would have liked to see where that went.
This title is still pretty spooky, although scary games in 2001 aren't that scary in 2014. I'd like a reboot/remaster from the team that made Alien: Isolation, I like the way they think.
Tactical crime fighting the relatively legal way. I'd want a multiplayer only reboot of this game, only because having to control 4 cops without any kind of tactical vision was a bit of a choir. Of course with Sierra back in the developing game, this one might happen.
It's a contemporary vampire rpg that's pretty entertaining. I'd like to see a sequel or the very least a reboot, mostly because I have no clue what's happening storywise.
I actually really liked this game, probably do in part to never playing the old Syndicate games but still. Don't get me wrong, there a lot of things I didn't like (including but not limited to its dumb story, very disorientating HUD, and clunky gameplay), but I think a sequel would have a ton of potential to fix the mistakes its predecessor made.
Have fun!
