Your opinion on tracking?
Statistics are beautiful!
Maybe a crazy way expressing yourself through your consumtion? Just jokig, I guess...

Could be a good piece of conversation for the next job interview. xD

If you wanna have your detailled (automated) analysis of your whole life and all your intimate data, just ask Google and Facebook for their data about you.

I dont have a facebook account ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
But I think google will do fine...

I use hummingbird.me to track my anime (pretty much over MAL), and like it much better. Always felt like tracking my games list, merely because I play quite a few and would like to remember where and when I played them. Really thats it though, I guess Plex kind of tracks my watched list for shows and movies.

I'd like to track stuff but since tracking stuff takes time away from enjoying said stuff... No. Last.fm I use/used, but since my iPod stopped scrobbling etc. I haven't been that active with it.
And I'm not too fond of many of the tracking sites. The UIs, the amount of customization/notes ability... The visuals.
Especially goodreads is a mess I don't want to touch.

Yeah, the design and database of goodreads is awful.

The point is: I love statistics and tracking feels good. Sometimes it's a bit like being a semi-expert on the tracked medium.

Take pictures, print physical copies and put them on your walls.

I hope it does. Then you can take pictures of pictures.

Haven't seen jbond here yet, but I'll let you in on a little secret...
There's no need to use those sites to track, everything you do is being tracked anyway, you just need to go ask the guys in the black suits if you could pls see what the last thing was ^_^

I track my Anime on Anime Planet, but beyond that I don't really track stuff.. not after I saw my Eve Online time-spent stats lol.
Games, Steam does more than I need. I'm so sporadic at playing that I don't really want solid stats to follow.
Movies/TV, no thanks. I always have something on. Also knowing that I've watched whatever ep of The West Wing 100times now probably wouldn't be a good thing either :p

I don't know how to feel about games I spent much time on when I see their hour count, too. :P

Tracking on its very basis: A man (correct me if I'm wrong) - a plan - 100%

Thanks for being the first one understanding my feelings (I guess). I like rating, writing and reding recommendations as well - Important point I forgot to mention.

I used to track my movies/episodes watched per year but haven't for a couple years now. I only tracked my movies because I was doing a challenge thing that I wanted to keep track of. I do like lists though, there's something strangely satisfying about them.
I barely watch tv anymore so I don't track episodes, but I sort of wish I did still just because I'm in the middle of several shows that whenever I want to continue I spend 15 mins looking at imdb trying to figure out what episode I was last on (and sometimes get spoiled).
I use raptr to track my hours playing games, thankfully I don't have to do anything it just tracks it on it's own.
The only thing I keep updated regularly now is goodreads which I love.

It was The 365 Film Challenge to watch a new film per day going around Tumblr, the specifics were up to you. I lowered my goal to 100 both years tho, I just wanted to push myself to catch up on classic/popular films I hadn't seen.

Seems like I missed that. It's hard to motivate yourself to watch those films sometimes even if they are often really good films. Could be a good solution for this problem.

yep I'm on goodreads, trakt.tv, and MAL for anime/manga (also track some of the manga on goodreads...), oh and movielens for recommendations with movies along with tracking. Haven't been tracking games, I'll have to check out the gamespilot/moviepilot sites thanks for the info

Moviepilot and gamespilot are pretty good but only german so far and I don't know if they are planning to include other languages (don't think so).

Tracked my calories some days. Interesting to have an overview but very time consuming and socially dispised. But what am I saying - it still can be fun. So why not?

Tracking is nice so that you remember what you've consumed and keep a list of future media you may be interested in. On the other hand, it can often be tedious and make consuming media a chore. Too many people guilt themselves into playing games they don't want to simply because they have a big list with lots of uncompleted titles. Setting fun goals are fine, but we shouldn't be stressing out over our pastimes.

I don't use a tracking thing to keep track of what I play, but I do have a blog where I post what I play each week, so that kind of counts I guess? xD

Yep, important aspect of tracking is getting tracked. Stalking can be fun, too. :P

I love tracking! I have Last.fm for music, Trakt.tv for TV shows / movies and Grouvee for games. xD It's also fun to stalk what other people are listening to / watching / playing. :P

How much do you track?
Calories since last week, need to shift a bit of excess timber and going to make sure I don't go over 2000 a day. Counting them in my head rather than using a website. 330 so far today after breakfast (just some muesli).

If you're interested in holding weight you will be fine to trust your hunger as long as you're not consuming too much empty calories (soft drinks). Nevertheless, tracking calories is always goog to get an overview.

I started tracking my movies and series on moviepilot.de. They added gamespilot.de and I started tracking games as well. ◉◉
As I began watching more animes I started tracking them and my mangas on myanimelist.de. ◉◉
A friend recommended trackt.tv, so why shouldn't I sign up and track my movies and series on this site and the app SeriesGuide as well? ◉◉
What is fun tracking, too? Achievements... http://astats.astats.nl/astats/ ... oh and music: http://last.fm/ ◉◉
A big gab opend in my heart because a big part of my consumption isn't still detected by any side: books! ... http://goodreads.com/ ◉_◉
