Disable SSAO if it's on in the options, tinker around with the settings, it SHOULD run fine if you can run Skyrim on High.

AMD graphhics card?
I get the same thing =/ only runs on pretty much lowest settings 1680x1050, know that feel bro.

It seems to be an extremely common issue with the game. I've tried it with two other PCs (sadly each of which were also running Win7) and it had the same issue. Nobody online seems to have a clue why it's doing it and all the fixes presented do not work for me. Rather sad because the game was decent enough the short amount of time I played it.

I've had the exact same problem as you with Dark Messiah. 9 month old gaming rig with windows 7. Everything runs on ultra except friggin dark messiah.
Don't lose sleep over it though. I hear it's shit anyway.

Not exactly losing sleep over it but it's not exactly fun to buy a product that doesn't work. I was looking for a little linear first person action RPG to clench my thirst since I've played Mount and Blade to death and back.

The only mistake is that I didn't made a giveaway for Railworks.

What's wrong with getting a massive FPS on Dark messiah? Also I really feel for you with that fable thing xD I avoided the game for the exact same reason.

Sorry left out the word "drop", a mistake on my part. Edited for clarity.

Dark messiah doesn't work on windows 7? That's weird. Isn't it just a Source game?
Comment has been collapsed.
It advertises itself as a "heavily modified source engine" game, so I really don't know. It's published by Ubisoft so that should of been my first warning bells. :p

Works fine for me on Win 7 64 bit.
As is usually the case with Win7 compatibility issues, your mileage may vary...

Found the Prince of Persia flash sale earlier than was on front page of store. Was labeled 75% off and as a flash sale. but after it when on the front page of the store as a flash deal, 75% off, i noticed price was $3 cheaper. Found out then, that the one i bought earlier was actually 50% off labeled as 75% =/

GTAIV is a giant steaming pile of a 360 port. It's awful and requires so much coddling to get to work. I've spent more time fighting with it than enjoying playing it, including just trying to get multiplayer to let me and a specific friend play (turns out GFWL just doesn't want our gamertags to play together at all, since I made a new silver tag and that worked).
I actually bought it in advance of the summer event but had barely touched it, and I think if I hadn't bought it before, I'd have definitely bought it during the summer sale. And then gone through the rage all at once instead of a little bit when I first tried to get it going.
My brother bought a brand new PC a month ago. All the settings on max: 16fps. All the graphics settings on low with the same resolution: 16fps. Rockstar, GTAV had better not pull this shit.

Lol.. it even ran smooth on mid-high (and 720p) on my Dell XPS15 (Nvidia GT 540M).. so it must be something wrong with your PC... Rockstar Games is one of the best game studios these days..

As I just read that. GTAIV is known as one of the most poorly coded ports there is.
1366x768 vs 1920x1080 is a big difference in terms of requirements and smooth is an opinion.
30FPS+ is smooth and playable for essentially everyone. 60FPS+ is what you want when you've just paid $1000+ on a new PC as I assume elix has. Just for the record, it's a lot more CPU intensive than GPU simply due to the horrendous coding.

that was pretty much why I didn't buy GTA this sale. i'd rather pir... get it somewhere else. 4 layers of drm (securom, gfwl, social club, steam), and this 2008 game runs worse than skyrim, saints row 3, and hell even crysis on maximum. like another poster said a few days ago: "i'd vote for GTA if it weren't for a 'how to run gta' thread with 500+ replies on the front page of the forums". GTAs are some of the best games i've ever played, though, fun-wise.
edit: cyberfreak, there's nothing wrong with his pc. GTA just doesn't like a lot of hardware out there. i know people with i7s and 7970s and the game runs slow for them. it's just badly optimized - your config may run it well, or it may not run it at all, and everything inbetween.

This is the biggest mistake i see here!
Exept if you own all games already ;D

There's a current sale on GOG.com for quite a decent price. I love GOG and their DRM-free awesome.

If i'm not mistaken, GOG also adds some fixes, so you can run old games on Win7x64.
I have a couple games from there and didnt have any big problems.

Manhunt. Because it isn't working on Windows 7. But I can judge only myself - they're writing that it doesn't support Windows 7. I expected that it will work, because Midnight Club II is working perfectly for me and they're writing that it doesn't support Windows 7 too. Maybe sometimes I'll create small section on my disk, install Windows XP there and play it. Also - I'm not sure, if realMyst works good on Windows 7, because I have low FPS on lot of places on map. It's game from year 2000.

I bought Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. $2.50.
Played it for 15 minutes and became unreasonably bored. I hope multiplayer saves it.

I don't really have any 'mistakes' as such. Okay, I purchased Arma Anniversary Edition and Portal 2 without the specification requirements and can't actually run them; portal 2 just crashes the graphics driver, and Arma runs at about 3FPS. However, the nice thing about Steam is that one day when I get a better PC I'll be able to download them and have them run.

So what's your stupid summer mistakes?
So far I have two.
1) Buying Dark Messiah and expecting it to work on Windows 7. Extremely silly of me to assume that. Get a massive FPS [drop] for no apparent reason a few minutes into the game. Even on a dedicated gaming rig crafted by the Greek Pantheon. No fixes online worked, I tried 'em all.
2) Buying the Fable collection on Steam on a limb. Wanted to play the first one and I thought having the other games thrown in for a few dollars more would be fine.
I really should have read the Fable III store page where it clearly said GFWL AND Securom ... on top of Steam. Needless to say that game won't be installed until I can find a way to hack that out. Nobody fault but mine however, still disappointed I supported a company that uses DRM though.
So share your sale finical mistakes here! Lucky the cheap prices ease the blow just a little.
