Hello Steamgifters! It is that time again - adventure time! Join a great adventure with incredible amount of treasures!

Over 80 treasures are featured in the current Game!

All of us like playing games, and all of us like winning games. So, how about playing a game and winning games while playing?

  • Introduction

Game of sWords is a text RPG Adventure where you can explore dungeons (or other locations), complete quests, solve puzzles, find useful items, avoid deadly traps and fight dangerous monsters while searching for treasures (private SteamGifts giveaways links) on your way and trying to reach the end to get access to a huge amount of private giveaways! Each Game (of sWords) usually has a unique scenario and a limited number of winners, so the chances will always be great.

All giveaways have no restrictions, so anyone who finds them can join them!

Lots and lots of giveaways have been contributed by the community members, and I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who made a contribution! :)

Here is the topic of the previous Game of sWords.

Here is the topic of the first Game of sWords.

  • Important notes about the Game

In the Game, you will have Energy Points and Health Points.
Most of the actions in the Game require Energy Points. Energy can be replenished using items, which you can find everywhere, thus it is important that you check everything around you!

Energy will also be replenished over time. Normally, you will receive 1 Energy Point every 15 minutes, and that time can be reduced with special artifacts that can be found in Game.
Note, that the Energy won't be replenishing during the battles (you can only restore it with potions)!

If you lose all your Health Points, you will also lose all the energy you had plus you will have to wait for up to 6 hours to be resurrected. (Basic Resurrection happens every 6 hours from the time the Game started - 16:00 GMT). The energy can not be replenished while you are dead!

Note: If you have problems navigating through the map, you can switch to Simplified Navigation at the bottom right corner.

I highly recommend to read this article for important Strategy Tips and general understanding of the Game :)

Also, make sure to read the FAQ, it has the answers to most questions you might have about the Game ;)

  • What's new in the current Game of sWords?

Current Game is a true RPG adventure with 3 classes, experience system and levels, multiple skills, wide variety of enemies with random encounters and huge amount of weapons, artifacts and items. There is 10 times more of everything than in the previous Game! The map is now twice as big as the one in The Secret Castle (previous Game), so you have to be ready for a long and dangerous journey! Make smart decisions, develop your character your way and lead him to success!

Current Winners limits: Barbarians:19, Mages:17, Thieves:24.

Winners get access to all giveaways available in the Game! (80+)

Everyone who finishes the Game after the limit is reached gets 1 random treasure as a consolation prize!

All giveaways end on the 1st of March!

  • Time to start the Adventure!

If I use Scroll of Regeneration twice, does the effect double? Or does it just prolong the regen time (means I get the same amount of HP but for twice longer)? Or is it simply a waste of scroll?

I lost all coins :) But I think my case is diffrent than DonutBig. I didn't use phoenix blood for revive. I just waited 3 h for revive. So I think that someone just searched my body. It was just the message that got my attention coz I definetelly didn't have 1500 coins.

I really need to start making some progress. I'm about done with my second day of playing and I am still only level 1 with a total of 9 XP that I got in my first 10 minutes of playing.

Total players: 502, My position: 501 :(

Even considering that, I am happy with todays progress. At least I picked up a bunch of items and another artifact.

I can understand your frustration. Some things are quite dependent on luck during the 1st level. And death upon death is very easy to come by if some things go wrong.

Make sure to put your new 5 skill points in your base stat or something. Resistances too. They will help. (Though I wish I could raise agility and accuracy from 1st level, it's really needed to avoid the miss-fest)

I can only give you this advice from my personal experience (and fail) so far... Running away from monsters as the game is at beginning, is really "not" the way to go. It's a fail and only a waste of energy/potions, cause it can easily fail many times in a row. 25% chance to escape is super low and can easily ruin your character completely if you fail to roll it many times in a row. Instead go full attack and use all those potions and resources you have on trying to kill anything you find.. Just make sure you use the correct type of weapon depending on the enemy. (check FAQ)

Hopefully I might get my first level up soon enough (maybe) though I'm pretty sure I won't finish the game in time this time... First day was filled with deaths just like you... And still no artifacts or any kind of armor drops, character is naked.

It's just a slow start, things aren't that bad. I have picked up a lot of items and a few artifacts & weapons. Now I just need to start fighting to increase my XP to get to level 2. I feel like things will progress much quicker once I get to level 2 or 3. Hopefully by then I will find some artifacts that reduce the amount of time for HP and energy regeneration. That is the big slow down right now because I picked barbarian. Really wish I could put all my points into agility and then accuracy.

A minor question. :O

Is there any difference between having a negative stat, for example - 1 or - 2 in magic defense, than having 0 in it? Or is it the same?
In other words: Do enemies deal extra dmg if negative defense? or same as if we had 0 in it ?

PS: Disorientation feels a bit overboard and should probably start from 8 moves maximum. not 11. 11 is overkill and a death warrant that can't be cured. Even with resistance points it still equals death with the spawn rate in my opinion, unless we max that resistance of course.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not sure, but I'm thinking you probably lose the same amount that you would gain if you added 1 stat to the category.

For example, in accuracy your starting hit rate is 50% and each stat point you add gives you an additional 5%. So I would think each negative would drop you 5%. So with 1 negative you would drop to a 45% chance of hitting.

It does make some sense but I would really like "Server"'s answer on this one.

Yes, with negative Defence/Magic Defence you will receive more damage from Physical/Magical attacks accordingly, so basically you will have weakness instead of protection from those types of damage.

I don't know if it's a bug or normal, but mage supposedly has base stats of magic + magic defense correct? Then why can't I put a single point in magic defence? :O Actually I can't put my 5th point anywhere not even in Magic. It does not let me. xD Feels strange.

EDIT: Never mind, after some click-festing on all stats it finally accepted the point in Magic. No idea what the issue was...

I thought in a previous fight when I got down to 0 energy it pulled me out of the fight. I just got into a fight with like 1 energy and it let me continue to fight till I died (probably another 5 or 6 attacks). I think it said something like "you are tired" on the top every time I attacked, but I was still getting hits in. Does having 0 energy and being tired in a fight reduce any stats or have any negative effect?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, your damage will be cut in half when you are tired. I actually forgot to mention it in the FAQ, so will add it now ;)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Only dmg affected? Chance to hit should probably also be affected if it's not already. And this would also be normal to happen when attacking enemies with correct/wrong weapon type. (better/worse accuracy not just dmg, at least if you look at it realistically that is)

Protip: If you want to save energy and have lots of HP potions, keep your EP low at all times and fight (weak) monsters with your 0 energy attacks. You'll get hit a bit more (if your stats are high enough its negligible) and can save the EP you would otherwise have spent attacking for other actions.

Permalink

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I won't be able to take advantage of that for a while though, I am still level 1 and it's not a good idea to fight anyone while only doing half damage.

Is there any way to check the leaderboards / list of people who won, right from the game site page? I always found it curious (from last game) that I would have to die or be left with 0 energy to get the access to that. :S

PS: Found 3 artifacts in a row from random mobs, however all for hands. Discarded the gauntlets of strength +2 (useless for mage), and another one, and kept the initial first thing found +1 agility. :O Also got a concussion +1 (useless too). Unbelievable randomness. :P I actually "started progressing in the game" today. xD Better late than never I guess... Low energy regeneration is the only thing holding back the wizard, after the first level up. xD

EDIT: haha another gauntlets of strength. :P

As for EP, depends on class. I'm pretty sure thieves don't have the same issues concerning EP recovery. 2 every 10 steps/checks is super OP and almost a laugh, and they also get max bonus on level ups (which helps immensely in potions (since %) and also while sleeping at night. It's almost a nonstop farming class.

I'm loving the game and hopefully next time I can contribute to the prize pool. I have a question about balance though..
While waiting for EP to refresh, I crunched the stats:

Class Total % Total Fame % Fame
Barbarian 169 33% 2 8%
Mage 145 28% 6 24%
Thief 204 39% 17 68%

What gives thief such an advantage in scoring?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Best EP replenishment. Can farm and explore faster than all. Pretty big difference too. And I've not seen the shop yet, but "if" it sells EP potions, a thief could get a huge amount easily, since he also steals loads, and finds extra coins from each pile too. I really hope it doesn't sell any. Other classes have been often reporting to have lost all their fortunes to thievery. Of course it's still perfectly doable with any class. You just can't follow the imba thief speed, that's all.^^

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Barbarian - ~20% bonus to the max HP with each level + 25% more effective EP potions.
Battle Mage - early access to powerful spells.
Thief - additonal max Energy point with each level, regeneration of 2 Energy points each 10 steps/checks + up to 50% more Coins findings.

=> I think Energy is the key.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Indeed. Also high agility in early game, can get a character almost invincible. 5% dodge for each point is pretty OP if you max it fast.
In retrospect, even 2 energy points per 30 steps/checks would be great (and even energy drain steals that amount on average but on 50 steps, which is kinda super weak). Imagine how op it is, when it happens in every 10 of them. It's literally all the time....

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

hell yeah you're totally right, Thief are OP, sometimes I feel like Mage should be the one has more advantage in Energy, Mage - Wizard - Energy - Mana, you know, but too late for everything now, maybe SErVER51 will make it more balance next time T_T or we just need choose our class more wisely.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Energy is what makes them OP.
Also the ability to steal others coins to buy even more energy :D
Just saw that I'm the leading barbarian and probably won't be able to finish the game because of the lack of energy (traveling on thursday). Thieves have energy, mages can port easily.. but we strong men have some issues here! :P

Important message! Please take a minute to read it and vote / share your opinion!

A few days have passed since the Game has started, and the competition between classes appeared to be a bit unfair after all.

For that reason, I've come up with, in my opinion, nice and fair solution: to split the winners places between classes (limit number of winners for each class). This will eliminate the competition between classes and, as a result, any imbalance problems between them, and leave the competiton within each class, thus the best adventurers of each class will be the winners of the Game.

The number of overall winners in this case will be increased to 60 (it can be easier divided by 3 :p)

There are 2 options for splitting the winners places between classes:

1. Split the places equally: 20-20-20

2. Split the places relative to the current number of players in each class. The number of places will be following: Barbarians: 19, Mages: 17, Thieves: 24

Please, vote here: http://www.poll-maker.com/poll582989x52F04693-25

And share your opinion :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Our fates have been sealed.

However it's indeed a nice idea and does sound fair though I do wonder what thieves will think of it. As for my opinion both of the first 2 split options seem ok and fair. Also, I don't know what your rules are about winners (do they enter all GAs like last time? I think it's a bit overboard with 80+ GAs but your call anyway) but you could also raise it to 75 or 90 if you wanted (25/30 from each class or something).

Last time the game finished too soon and many were disappointed if you remember about that. It lasted too little. Sharing the fun with more people sounds more appropriate. So I'd definitely go with a higher number this time. Or another idea is to close the final reward to a fixed number of winners like it always was, but let the in-game treasures still appear till the end of the event. At least this way, people will continue to play the game with a "reward" in mind right?

It's just my opinion though.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think 60 is enough, since the winners will get access to all giveaways meaning that there will already be up to 60 entiréis in each one, plus all the random entries with random treasures (369 treasures have been found by this moment). Increasing the number of winners might make the chances of winning giveaways too low.

I think choose class wisely at first is a part of the game, I tend to accept the fate, but since you made this post: (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Permalink

I agree, until its more balanced, 19 17 24 seems fair ( cause 20 20 20 would be unfair for people who play thief and better for mages who have less.competition)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I really don't know about this. People started the game without such a limitation and have chosen the best class in their opinion. So it would be really unfair to other ones who would make it in time but will be eliminated because of their class' limit. Maybe for the next game?

I hate myself for that one death because I wasn't watching my HP, I could have finished flawlessly!! But I still have the least deaths amongst all the top players :)
Found a legendary weapon on my way to the dragon and proceeded to kill it in 5 out of 5 hits, it was about to unleash some kind of special attack on the 5th turn and I blocked it, I'm not sure if it even did damage to me :P

Hello, I have noticed that you have maxed out the 'magic' stat. Can you use scrolls as the thief, too? Or did you just max it because you had too much skill points to spend?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Every class can use the scrolls, yes (it wasn't really worth it though since most of the scrolls are useless, but Teleportation and Resurrection was nice to have). Mages just have the early advantage because they can put all their skill points in there early, while for other classes, Magic is capped at your character level. (so you have to be level 5+ before you can use them at earliest). It's also in the FAQ :)
And also it helps boosting your magic damage when you use staves to fight monsters resistant to physical.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Needless to say it's very hard to find and utilize good scrolls in early levels and even if you do they are not really powerful at the time (magic does not help on this) but they do get powerful on latter levels. They get enhanced actually, based on character level, no idea if other classes get these improvements though.

PS: Scrolls actually should just be available to mages, since other classes had some other perks anywayz. It would be a good idea though to introduce throwing axes for barbarians and throwing daggers for thieves, as well as dust of invisibilty (for thieves) and other stuff such as this, so that all classes will have their own things (besides stealing which needs a nerf). :)
