Hello Steamgifters! It is that time again - adventure time! Join a great adventure with incredible amount of treasures!

Over 80 treasures are featured in the current Game!

All of us like playing games, and all of us like winning games. So, how about playing a game and winning games while playing?

  • Introduction

Game of sWords is a text RPG Adventure where you can explore dungeons (or other locations), complete quests, solve puzzles, find useful items, avoid deadly traps and fight dangerous monsters while searching for treasures (private SteamGifts giveaways links) on your way and trying to reach the end to get access to a huge amount of private giveaways! Each Game (of sWords) usually has a unique scenario and a limited number of winners, so the chances will always be great.

All giveaways have no restrictions, so anyone who finds them can join them!

Lots and lots of giveaways have been contributed by the community members, and I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who made a contribution! :)

Here is the topic of the previous Game of sWords.

Here is the topic of the first Game of sWords.

  • Important notes about the Game

In the Game, you will have Energy Points and Health Points.
Most of the actions in the Game require Energy Points. Energy can be replenished using items, which you can find everywhere, thus it is important that you check everything around you!

Energy will also be replenished over time. Normally, you will receive 1 Energy Point every 15 minutes, and that time can be reduced with special artifacts that can be found in Game.
Note, that the Energy won't be replenishing during the battles (you can only restore it with potions)!

If you lose all your Health Points, you will also lose all the energy you had plus you will have to wait for up to 6 hours to be resurrected. (Basic Resurrection happens every 6 hours from the time the Game started - 16:00 GMT). The energy can not be replenished while you are dead!

Note: If you have problems navigating through the map, you can switch to Simplified Navigation at the bottom right corner.

I highly recommend to read this article for important Strategy Tips and general understanding of the Game :)

Also, make sure to read the FAQ, it has the answers to most questions you might have about the Game ;)

  • What's new in the current Game of sWords?

Current Game is a true RPG adventure with 3 classes, experience system and levels, multiple skills, wide variety of enemies with random encounters and huge amount of weapons, artifacts and items. There is 10 times more of everything than in the previous Game! The map is now twice as big as the one in The Secret Castle (previous Game), so you have to be ready for a long and dangerous journey! Make smart decisions, develop your character your way and lead him to success!

Current Winners limits: Barbarians:19, Mages:17, Thieves:24.

Winners get access to all giveaways available in the Game! (80+)

Everyone who finishes the Game after the limit is reached gets 1 random treasure as a consolation prize!

All giveaways end on the 1st of March!

I have found all the doors , holes and everything but I can't find any keys. Do I have to "check" each location for them (not that I'm not doing it) or do they appear in front of me with "take" or "don't take" options?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

At least one key is found in plain sight on the floor so you can "take" it immediately, but another crucial piece of information can only be found by a "check" (if I remember correctly, I'm not 100% sure) so do continue to check everything just to be on the safe side.

Just found the key and calculated how much HP I need to get to the door. I will manage, I suppose.. Thanks! Btw, I have been on every tile in the dungeon, I have only seen one lever so far. Am I doing something wrong?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There is only one lever in the immediate dungeon area, you should find the rest as you unlock more parts of the dungeon. In total there are more levers in the dungeon. Also, the key I think you're describing was not covered in my previous post - there is still at least one more key that can be taken directly from a tile and something that I think might require a check.

Hi, I am fighting a monster and I'm out of energy, but energy is not regenerating over time, so I can't attack (can but with no effect) and I can't run away. Am I doomed to die?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In the new version of the game you can attack for half your normal damage output while you have 0 energy. You have to do this until either you or the monster die(s).
(In the old version you would just die no matter what)
You won't get energy until you finish the battle so you might as well finish it fast.

Winners' places have now been split between classes relative to the number of players in each class!

This was made to give equal chances to all classes and to get rid of the imbalance of the competition between classes.

Players of each class now compete within their chosen class and the best players of each class win the Game! :)

There will be 60 winners overall and they are split the following way: Barbarians:19, Mages:17, Thieves:24.

When certain class reaches its winners' limit, players of this class will still be able to continue the adventure and finish the Game, and 1 random treasure will be granted as a prize for completing the Game.

Currently, 4 Thieves have already completed the adventure!

Congratulations to the current winners and good luck to everyone! ;)

I'm not quite happy with the new version, I can't make 3 steps without encountering a creature that is too powerful for me and running away doesn't help much because by the time that actually works I take a lot of damage, already died and I'm still level 1. 90% of the time my opponents have the advantage in this rock/paper/scissors system and I have no chance of survival. My HP doesn't even regenerate and I've found (and had to use) only one potion despite checking everything. The random ridiculous difficulty makes it extremely frustrating, I doubt I'll finish the game at this snail pace.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

~I also got 3 deaths like this early in the game. (didn't have the bonus stat points then) The only thing that worked was go full attack with whatever I had available and never run. (running away is a fail by default at lvl 1 because like you said you end up getting dmg and drinking potions for nothing, it's just 25% so it can easily be your death. Should be at least 35-40 to be effective.).

Also spend your points wisely, check faq, and hope you find better weapons soon enough, cause it will be very hard before improving your weapon and raising your stats a bit. Don't worry though if you get to lvl 2 everything becomes normal, as if by magic.

PS: @Server, on a side note and looking back at it, I do think that those scratch birds and ghouls were a bit too much for first spawns.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I could only spend them on strength and defense, nothing else worked. I'm already 1-2 days behind because I didn't know this was happening, I don't think I'm gonna have time to even find any treasures :P. If it's anything like last time people will reach a point where you can get through half the game in one sitting long before I get there.

PS. Yeah my barbarian is useless against them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I must be getting lucky then. I am a level 1 barbarian and I think I have tried to run away from 6 or 7 enemies. The first time I tried to run it didn't work on the first try so I decided to fight for the rest and died (bad idea to fight considering I was blind, didn't get a hit in). The next 4 or 5 that I tried to run, I got away on the first try without any damage. The last time I tried, I got away on the second try only taking 1 hit.

Edit: I do have a +1 agility artifact, but that should only bring me up to a 30% chance of escaping. And I think I tried to run away from 1 other enemy that didn't work, can't really remember.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes it's actually very random. Never worked for me at 25%. The 1 agility of course helps yes. Fighting while blinded is indeed crazy and usually a death warrant. :P

Now that's luck... Best artifact I've seen by far. :P
Still the ability of thieves is better than this imba item haha. It's 2 energy per 10 steps (AND checks). so it's still better than the artifact. And all of them have it. :P

Just died on purpose, in order to get some needed energy in order to progress a bit... :P The things we must do for some extra EP. xD

I've done that too, and to save a bandage.

Yup it's the same for me. Enemies at this lvl are quite powerful.. Still searching for items to boost magic, accuracy or ep/ep regen, none yet. The bad thing with these monsters is the energy consumption to kill them. It's too easy to miss them and spend timeeee resting afterwards.

Comment has been collapsed.

Finished! I enjoyed it very much. Played as Thief and probably had some luck at the beginning, because I managed to keep myself from dying for quite some time and was relatively lucky in finding Energy Potions.

By far the funniest moment for me was when I finally found the "candy" shop. I had ~3000 coins, my Thievery ability got recharged on the square right before it, there was one person there, so I thought let's see what happens now. It turned out the person was one of the Top 3 players (Dig, if I'm not mistaken) and he donated the unexpected amount of 500 coins. :D

Now, some feedback. The way things are presented when finding a weapon/artifact makes it really easy to exchange it for the one you currently have equipped and potentially losing a rather valuable item. Throughout the entire game, I was very careful not to let this happen, but probably because I was tired near the end, I hadn't even noticed how I had exchanged my staff with over 1200 magic damage, some additional fire damage and skill boosts for one with only 250 damage. Maybe introduce a second question with a checkbox that the player must explicitly check and then confirm with an "Agree" button to complete the change. That should make doing so inadvertently much harder.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Since I donated to Domazo's wealth several times, I'd say next version there should be a small risk of contracting disease or a curse from looting corpses. And after every turn there's a vivid description of what body part is now being devoured from the inside by maggots or something. <3

Woke up in morning and had again 100+ gold stolen from me (and some energy leeched). So the steal does not only work while dead but also while alive correct? I was not really aware of this till now. In the end, (if I ever find the shop), I won't have money for it...Another thing that will have to be nerfed in future versions..

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Everybody can steal coins from dead players, but thieves steal coins from alive players as well. They won't be able to steal all of your coins though while you are idle - usually just a small part, but it depends on thief's level.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see. Well so far I've lost majority of total coins I've earned, it's a bit too much I think... It certainly will need a nerf in future versions if you ask me... The other player reported of having reached 3 thousand coins on the shop. It's another OP thing you should look into imo.

PS: Omg the liches are so powerful... I assumed I wouldn't deal much dmg with my staff, so I just ran away didn't seem worth it, still got dmged though... Magic defense is also needed as it seems... This is so fun but I need rest for energy every few steps. :P I don't think I'll make it in time.

It's especially annoying when you reach end-game and encounter the damage sponge monsters since they'll end up depleting your energy while the rewards they give get relatively worse. At level 9-10 I ran away from more than half of random encounters to save energy and prey on weaker monsters for XP and drops.

I thought you meant 5 items, that give +6 agility each. Though I doubt there's so powerful items out there.
My items still suck unfortunately, only have some minor agility/defense and fire mastery bonuses which are nice, but probably not enough to survive the monstrosities out there. I urgently need accuracy/better defenses & certainly magic. It's stuck at base 10 since lvl3. Could use a boost for the dps. Liches and Orcs are already too much. By the way so many holes/doors/quests. I've yet to find any kind of key they seem to be super well-hidden... Loads of stuff to do but no energy. :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes that would be a bit overkill in the way you tought. :P
I have 4 artifacts that give me 1 agility each and only the agility.
Magic also stuck at base 10 here, but using melee weapon because it's stronger.
Haven't come across something that increased accuracy, only decreased.
Now that I have explored a lot of the area, you'd think I could walk far with my boots, but with 35 energy only made it 11 steps far, so without checks. :s

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You shouldn't complain that artifact you got is amazing, EP replenishment is SO rare for the wizard. It still helps you explore much much faster than any wizard out there, think about that. Also 35 energy is great too, it would help me with phoenix vial/resurrection as well. I'm still stuck at 28. No item to increase it.

As for the melee weapon you mentioned, are you sure it's worth it? Don't forget that melee weapons only get bonus from Strength, not from Magic. You also lose the 20% magic dmg bonus that mages have as an inherent skill. So it's a total of 70% dmg roughly that you are losing. :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That 35 is including your 3 and the 2 from the boots. I normally have 29.
It's a fire sword 20 attack and 70 fire, compared to 40 magic, melee is better, eventough I don't have strength. Fire mastery of 5 helps. I do around 100 dmg.on most things.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hmmm I actually have that sword found it recently but I have a strength of -2 (negative), and a magic weapon of 49. So it's roughly probably the same thing for me no matter what weapon I use. I should probably use the sword only on magic/magic resistant enemies such as liches. I just have almost no bonuses from artifacts, only some minor stuff that also come with negatives. I keep finding the same "bad" artifacts for a big part of the game actually. Too random.

Hmm, end of day 3 for me and i'm still level 1. I have moved and searched everywhere possible at this point so I proceeded into the cave. I found the stairs down, but decided it's probably not a good idea to go there yet while still being level 1. Maybe when I come back I will find some more enemies to kill to get to level 2. I am now up to 58 XP, lol. On a positive note, today I did manage to get from dead last position up to 335, that's over 200. I am making some progress, I just never have enough energy to do much.

What class are you playing? Just make sure :
1. to use correct weapons depending on enemy. check FAQ. If you don't have the right weapon, better run away.
2. Always rest enough so that you don't run out of energy while fighting
3. Go full attack on all enemies on lvl 1( it worked for me after I stopped being unlucky with missing all the time) just use the healing potions you find to survive while fighting.
4. Of course distribute your stat points wisely

I'm a barbarian and I am doing everything you mentioned except that I don't always attack. I will usually attack since I can kill just about anything I have run into so far except for a couple flying enemies and I will run from them. I also run if I have low energy or HP. The thing is that I have been really lucky and I got away from almost every fight that I chose to run on the first try without taking any damage.

I have also gotten really lucky with strategically killing myself right before the resurrection time. I have gotten a cut or poisoned with nothing to stop it a few times and it was always very close to the time when you come back, so I purposely used up my energy moving around and checking everything I could in order to die right before you come back. That way I will come back with 90% hp and I already had 0 energy (or close to it) anyway, so there is no penalty. I also do this when my HP is very low instead of using a potion.

I got really lucky once. I wasn't planning on dying, but I got poisoned with nothing to cure it and there was only a little over a minute before the respawn time. I managed to kill 2 enemies and then frantically click to move a couple spots and search everywhere to kill myself in order to respawn with 90% hp and no more poison. I think I only had 1 energy left when I died and when I got to the screen that says how much time is left till I respawn, it literally said 1 second. Good thing I made sure my clock on my computer was timed with the game clock, lol. If I died 1 or 2 seconds later, I would of been out for another 6 hours. Luckily I have not died yet at a bad time. I don't think I ever had to wait more than 2 hours (not sure if it was ever even that long). If I know I am going to die, I also wait to make my last step till a few minutes before the respawn so that I am not lying on the ground dead. That way I can't get looted as a dead player.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Needless to say that this resurrection abuse you are talking about is probably a (highly abusable) bug, otherwise I would be surprised. :O I actually always waited 5 to 6 hours, on all of my first 3 deaths I had on the first day... It definitely sounds like a bug.

In any case don't forget that even when running away, you are actually expending energy and you ALSO go one step back in the map. So it's probably better to always have energy before a fight, so that you don't even have to run away. You just lose time.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There's no bug. The resurrections happen every 6 hours and you come back with 90% of your full HP. It is mentioned right on the top of this page.

"Basic Resurrection happens every 6 hours from the time the Game started - 16:00 GMT)"

I agree that it is somewhat abusive, but I imagine a lot of people are doing the same thing. He did say in the strategy thread "Planning your time wisely is one of the keys to winning Game of sWords." :)

Edit: This may also be why my rank is so bad. I'm not sure how deaths affect your score, but I'm not really worried about the rank. I just thought it was funny that I was in dead last place considering a lot of people probably started the game and then didn't continue and I was behind them somehow. Maybe you start with a certain number of points (like 1000) and then go up or down depending on your progress. Then I could easily understand how I could be behind other players that didn't play much.

As far as I've gathered from points, you lose 1 for every step and check, and gain equal(?) to your exp gain. Might get some extra for killing stuff or completing quests. Dying probably decreases some as well.
edit: more like 1/2 of exp gain, if at all from exp and not just enemies defeated

Also, I hope you don't think that I am complaining. I am actually having a lot of fun. I don't have much experience playing these kind of games with stats and turn based fighting, but I decided to give it a try recently with Final Fantasy. I have never played a FF game and I started playing FF2 that was given out for free recently on mobile devices. I am still playing the FF game, but it doesn't keep me interested and I haven't put much time at all into it. I am actually having a lot more fun playing this and I can't wait to continue.

Anyone else noticed that the scroll of regeneration doesn't work some times ?

Had it happen once where I clicked and I thought it activated but it didn't. But it wasn't consumed and I never had issues with it since.
On the other hand, all my Escape Scrolls kept disappearing whenever I entered combat. Not that I saw any point in them either, but that's like the only time when they're useful, they decide to disappear :P

Maybe you had the item that doesn't let you escape combat ?

Nope, in fact I never encountered it and didn't know it existed until I read a comment here :)
(And even if I did, it should at most prevent me from using a scroll but not destroy them :P)

They were lost for good or only for the duration of the combat ?

Permanently gone. I first noticed it as the scrolls I had previously amassed were suddenly missing. Then I found another, checked that it appeared correctly in my inventory, then as soon as I engaged another monster it just disappeared.

Actually I also noticed that escaped scrolls some times disappear from inventory, but the truth is that as long as you have more than 1-2, you can always click it, and it will use it. It just has issues of telling you the correct number of scrolls you have. So even if you have 4 and use 1, it might still say that you just have 1. You can keep using the extra ones, and it may still say you have 1 till they are all depleted. :O Something along those lines anywayz. Hard bug to track down cause it's not the case at all times.
