Is the pre-order price usually cheaper than the actual, when the bundle is on sale?

No. Pre-order price is $3.99, it can go down to $3.00 when it starts.

Preordering indie royale is a foolish mistake.

Normally I do, just because I can spare an extra dollar for the devs and I'm certain I'd buy it anyway. But I already own Nuclear Dawn (excellent btw), and their past bundle was sorta meh, so I'll be waiting to see if I actually want this bundle.

Since they're only giving chiptune music as a pre-order bonus I"m not that excited about it either.

Though is it wise for them to do the HIB thing of 'revealing' games later? That actually might work better in their favor for people wanting to pre-order.

So it's Nuclear Dawn, Q.U.B.E??, EDGE??, one of the Radiangames Crossfire games??. I believe I got them all. Anyone agree with the ones with the ??? marks?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If Q.U.B.E., INSTANT PREORDER. Actually, if not Q.U.B.E., instant preorder; ten pounds going to indie developers that deserve it, and a nice chiptune album to boot, along with some satisfaction for my latent OCPD that requires that I order every bundle, ever.

I'm still more excited for the alpha bundle, though, considering that some games have inadvertently already been confirmed for it.

which ones?

Well, the developers of Survivors of Ragnarok accidentally let slip on their forums that they were included, and heavily implied that some of the other Desura alpha-fund project games were; I'm going to guess Survivors of Ragnarok, Rotion, Towns and... Maybe King Arthur's Gold? I'm purely guessing here, but they're educated guesses.

I'm with you. I didn't have Nuclear Dawn (easily worth over $4) and I've been really liking the chiptunes (also worth at least $4 IMO). I know I'll get pre-order's remorse; but I know I'll buy it eventually. Pre-ordered.

My guess is Limbo personally. Though that may be more of a puzzle then a platformer.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Though the description may fit I really doubt that a game like Limbo is included in the Indie Royale. The Royale team said in an interview, that their bundle focusses on less known indie games. They want to leave the blockbuster-titles like World of Goo, Braid, etc to the Humble Bundle.
Of course that was an old interview and their attitude might have changed - but I guess Limbo would still be a Headliner and not the 3rd game to mention.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, it is an 'award-winning' indie game. Now award-winning could mean many things, but I'd say that the number of award-winning indie games that are lesser known and can still brag about it is fairly small. It is possible, but to me, Limbo is the one that just jumps to mind.

Because they hope the normal user is thinking.... yeaaah fixed price for unknown games and if I dont preorder it I dont receive game soon as possible.... and when you dont preorder the price can rise to one milion dolars for bundle if you come too late :)

Or because it would be unattainable otherwise... Pretty sure the bundle is going to be released sometime this week, during a weekday. Since I have school, it would be more accessible and worth the extra buck KNOWING that I can get my games at $4.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

1st: Are you so poor or you just don't want to get them 1$ extra?
2nd: Preordering is like beating average price, so you get extras. They are not as good as the ones in the Humble Bundle, but they are quite nice to have.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well in my time zone it will probably launch around 4am to 6am meaning I will be asleep and by the time I am up and reading to buy it may well be over $4, sure it may go back down below but it also may not and if it does there is a chance you will miss it. Pre-ordering means you are getting it at "min +1" when if you wait you could get it between "min" and "min +1" (a win if you didn't pre-order) or "min +1 +x" (a loss of you didn't pre-order), so you are taking a gamble.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They only introduced the preordering due to their lack of serverpower at launchtime. It is only intended for those that would buy it directly when it launches. So your benefit is not a cheaper price or anything else - it's just to satisfy your "NEED IT BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE"-addiction. ;)
There is no real reason to preorder it. Just wait for the release like everybody else.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Fairly sure most of those buying it directly at launch were aiming for the lowest price possible, not just having it before everyone else.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is odd, but as I almost paid $5 for ND during the sale, $4 for that, three other random games and a nice chiptune album didn't sound so bad for me. And if it opens during the weekend, I'm going to be away and not be able to snipe it at the lower price. And it's a whole dollar we're talking about here...

I can't even think of any good reason that somebody thinks Q.U.B.E. is included in this bundle. It is not featured on Steam and it was just released on Desura. It has no MAC support either.

So... maybe the platformer is Trine 2. -.-

My thoughts:

  • Nuclear Dawn (got that confirmed a while back by dev Viper)
  • I'd say/pray Rochard (another great game, totally fits the hints)
  • No idea, maybe Terraria (award-winning game / 2D)
  • No freaking idea :(

@snlehton: Please confirm my thoughts :P

Terraria is only PC and the description says PC/Mac.

Rochard ist far too new. Most of the games everybody suggests really don't fit in a Indie Royale. Just take a look at the titles in the last IRs. I expect that many people here will be disappointed with the final titles. That doesn't mean it will be a bad bundle, but most people seem to have too high expectations.

Thanks alot for the tip!!!! if Nuclear Dawn is indeed in that bundle i'm positive to get it, if Rochard is there aswell i'll pay waaay above the minimum, and if Terraria is in there, i might give it to a friend or whoever comes in my way first :)

The World premiere is a title that has never been released to date, read that from the facebook page, quote:
"Indie Royale None of these games have been released in a previous Humble or Indie Royale bundle. And one has never even been released on PC or Mac before (we're excited about that!)"

IndieRoyal doesnt seem to care about Mac or Linux users. only HumbleBundle requires their games to work on all 3 major OS, so it could totally be on IndieRoyal someday

I'd pre-order it in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the fact I bought Nuclear Dawn when it was on sale for $12. Oh well. I'll wait to see if it's worth it based on the other two games. I don't say three as I never download the non-steam games anyways.
