So from Monday work has announced that we will be working from home! Yay :) "working" being key here.

Just a question - does anyone have any recommendations on how I can set up my computer so I can login to my work bookmarks on Chrome/Firefox separately from my at home ones? I've been considering using multiple desktops, or making another User for the PC.. Hmmmmm
And an offering for those here: RjoU5 :)

Chrome/Firefox

Unless you regularly use both browsers for personal use, you could replace one of the browser's bookmarks with your work ones and use the other browser for home ones.

Hmm only issue is I use multiple browsers for different aspects of work + multiple emails. Not sure I really want to contaminate my home PC with all that :P

If you don't want to use profiles you can use a portable version of Firefox that you can move between computers:

Oh I didn't even know this existed. This looks promising, thank you :)

Why not add another profile to your browser?

I make Chrome instances for each Google account I use, and pin them in taskbar
All of them use sync everything except history.

This way, I can open multiple email and multiple bookmarks according to what account I need at once.

I use Chrome for both work and personal use and this is exactly what I do as well.

This is one of the reason I switched over from Firefox.

I don't know if Firefox now can do this as well or not.

Ooh nice idea. I'll have to test it all out Monday and see what I prefer. :)

We were allowed to take the desktop PC with us so we already got everything setup ready for work on the next work day. (and our employer payed the transport costs)

As Kappa mentioned there's a way to create different browser profiles but if you use more than a browser to work I'd recommend a second windows user.

Oh that was pretty nice of them!

Yeah I use multiple browsers, as I have to manage multiple email accounts in Office which causes dramas with auto-logging >.>

Does your employer IT department have VM's you can remote into? Or maybe a VPN you can remote into your workstation?

Working from home is definitely an adjustment, so be ready for an adjustment period! I've been doing it for nearly 4 years and it's great, once you get used to it.

I would suggest creating another user profile, so that you can be more focused/productive!
In my case we need access to our intranet, so we are connecting to our workstations through VPN.

We were able to take laptops if we had no other options available and use remote desktop in order to complete our work. I think your best bet is to just add a second account to your browser, if your company policies allow that.

Mine doesn't, so I have to use their VPN in other to access my work for browser and the remote to actually do stuff.

Been working from home for 13 years now. It sure takes some motivation, but I'm able to do it.
