Steam Down now? How I solved

I just waited a few minutes.

In the time it took you to apply the beta and restart steam, Steam probably went back up on it's own, giving the impression that you opting in for the Beta is what solved it lol.

You didnt do anything, you just thought you did.
Steam was having trouble only for a short time...

I do still have issues making a payment through the duch iDeal, though.

Sometimes the client puts me offline and i go online randomly dunno...

Maybe you don't know, but, Steam servers were down for routine maintenance (It says so on the Friends window). It was down for like five minutes tops. Opting in for the beta has absolutely nothing to do with login issues and issues with the servers.

i couldnt log on at all earlier either.. but i found an easy fix for it. i opened redtube and popped off a quick one then i made some scrambled eggs for lunch. when i came back, steam worked perfectly!
