Im after good some games to play on my phone, but interesting apps would be nice too.
A few ive completed are:

Lair Defense: Dungeon
Lair Defense: Shrine
Jewels Star

I occasionally play Temple Run or Temple Run 2 but they get boring pretty fast.
I also enjoyed Vector but it became way to grindy.
Angry Birds was good, but the last time i played, it had way too many ads.
Cut the Rope was fine but got sick of it quickly.

Generally i'll stick to 1 game and play it through in small doses. I do have Jewels Star 2 but some of the levels are extremely frustrating. I also dislike the bejewled clone types where need energy to play, stupid.

Also not going to touch anything by King.com.

+1

and if you hate Energy based games like it, try Doctor Who Legacy. Similar idea but no energy to restrict you from playing the game.

If you are willing to do some reading, I recommend Alkido as an eBook reader. Free software and no irritating adverts taking up space on your screen. Works great on my old 2.2 OS and tiny little screen.

Gameboid and Snesoid are essential apps if you dig oldschool emulation.

Splashtop 2 basically turns my Nexus 7 into my pc :3 The only downside is that to access your pc trough the internet you must pay a 5$/month fee :<

  1. Install Cyanogenmod 11
  2. Install ALL the Google apps
  3. Install all the games listed above
  4. You have yourself a nice phone :P

I would also recommend Real Racing 3, Little Inferno, 2048, Vector, Plants vs Zombies 2 (even thou it's not as good as the 1st game), Re-Volt, some SNES emulator and get all the Mario games :P

I've enjoyed playing Tiny Thief, The Room (both games), Lazors and Shopping Cart Hero 3. As for apps, Amazon Appstore has daily free apps and Dice Player is one of the best free around.

Updating as I go:

KAIROSOFT! - Kairopark

Seriously, give them a shot.
Some of them get REALLY complicated but try the following to get you started/familiar with Kairsoft's concept:
Dungeon Village, Cafeteria Nipponica, or Mega Mall Story.
Those are some of the less complicated ones.

P.S. I would of added Game Dev Story to that list, but OP has Game Dev Tycoon, figured I'd list some things he hasn't tried yet.
P.P.S. Try to steer clear of the Free (NON-LITE) ones. They tend to have a hard progress wall at a certain point.

Adventure Bar Story - JRPG, leveling is done via cooking ingredients found in world and eating them, those are also your source of income.
Kemco Games - JRPGs out the wazoo.
Devil's Attorney - Sort of like Phoenix Wright, but only focuses on the cases. The dialogue is quite amusing and there are some light RPG elements.

Humble Bundle - They sometimes do Android bundles.

If you're up for a F2P Pokemon-esque game, check out Brave Frontier. I've been playing it for about a month & a half and it's been a lot of fun. Power creep may or may not be an issue (not sure yet, going to have to see if that levels off) but if you don't invest any money in the game then it won't matter anyway. You can also get a limited amount of guaranteed gems (their cash shop currency) free by clearing maps and gaining PvP ranks. After that free gems only come in randomly from the daily login bonus or when they release new content.
