Guys and Girls.... Can you share your thoughts on PS Vita here? I want to buy one but still unable to decide :(

All I know is that it's (1) supposed to be the successor to the PSP (even though it doesn't feel like it's been around very long), and (2) it's officially endorsed by Vita of the Wolkenritter (there's even a PSP model with her on it).

I'd buy one. The library so far seems extremely solid. I'm tempted to trade me 3DS for one.

Apparently the tutorial when you set it up shows off most if not all the features.

UMVC3, Hot Shots, Katamari, and Disgaea 3 all look worth it to me already.

PSV has a great line up of games for an opener, i prefer 3ds just because most of my favorite game's are on it. but i think it could be a good system, i just feel bad for all those guy that want to play their UMD's.

Too expensive and doesn't have anything worth getting at launch, unless you like ports

Just like the PSP, I imagine it'll be a few years until there's enough games for it to justify a purchase

Thanks for all the reply.... I really want that... only the price is holding me off :(

I'd get it just for Katamary. I still have my copy of Katamary Damacy for the PS2 and take care of it like gold, next to Shadow of the Collossus and MGS3.

My only thought on vita: Touchpads on the back of a device is stupid

Permalink

i have never heard of that feature, what would you so with that.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

On games like Uncharted you can use it to climb and stuff, I think it's stupid. I would rather just press a button or up on a D-Pad

In Uncharted the touch is optional, you can still use a button or the dpad.

Yeah but if they add things like a useless touchpad, the device ends up costing more for nothing.

I've used a Vita and although it may sound stupid, it's actually a very interesting feature. You find yourself using it naturally, just as you would any button. Uncharted: Golden Abyss uses it for zooming while using a sniper rifle, you can be really precise with the amount you want to zoom in by useing the rear touchpad.

Of course, this isn't a forced feature and you can use other button layouts that don't use it. It's also very useful in things like the web browser, Twitter and Facebook app, where you can scroll down the page without obscuring your view of the screen.

All that stuff could be mapped to the other analog stick or D-pad like it was on the original PSP and it worked fine. It is simply just a feature they added to make it more appealing.

I traded my 3DS for one since i couldn't actually use it, the 3D on it just hurt my eyes A LOT. Got uncharted and everybody's golf with it, so far it's pretty amazing. Completed Uncharted, traded it in for UMVC3 and loving it. 2 cameras, 2 touch screens, graphics amazing for a handheld machine. It's worth the money.

Yeah, i'm slowly hating my 3DS :( The 3D effect was fun for about a week or two.

Always wait for the refresh. Errors fixed, more battery, more games, less price.

My first impression during the Gamescom last August wasn't bad. Very nice graphics, but gamedevs didn't use the new controlpossibilities in a smart way. I.e. to use your melee weapon in Resistance you have to touch a button on the touchscreen...

Now I know it's one of the worst handhelds ever made. Battery = 3 hours. Every game is attached to you SEN-Account (Sony Entertainment Network) and you have 3 different social apps. You have a friendlist, a messageapp and a voicechatapp. You can't message or start voicechat from the friendlist (WTF?). You have to quit your current game / app if you want to start the webbrowser...

250 for the wifi model. 300 for the 3G. And their propreitary memory cards aren't included.
3DS is around 180 now.

My only thought was: i won't buy dat shit till they add support for PS2 emulation cuz PS1 isn't enough for me... and since it doesn't happen, i guess i won't have Vita.

My thought is that it's a stupid name. My other thought is that games are too expensive. Other than this I wouldn't mind getting one for free.

Meh...

I didn't like the PSP because of its library, and the PS Vita looks like its going the same course so far. None of the games currently interest me, plus the system, memory, and the games themselves are way too expensive. (Uncharted: GA for $50? Really? For a portable game?)

I'll probably pass on it and keep my 3DS considering I love Nintendo exclusives.

I don't believe any handhold apart from nostalgia traps (see Nintendo, eww) can compete with with IOS and Andriod.

they can compete, but just fail ;)
anyway i'd like to know if it is just a feeling i have or there are ojective data to support this?
for example i'm not updated about the pricing: any data about them?

Honestly, it seems like a solid console and the current selection of games is decent I suppose. However, I'm waiting on a price drop; the Vita seems overpriced to me. And the games themselves are equally overpriced. If I'm gonna pay 50 dollars for a game I might as well spend the extra coin and get a console or PC game that's worth it. While the Vita has strong graphics and sound gameplay options, I just don't feel like it's worth the price of a PS3.

I bought it launch day and I love it! It's an amazing piece of hardware and you actually don't know how amazing it is until you hold it.

Touch screen is really sensitive which is nice, the Screen itself is beautiful, dual Analog sticks are kinda small at first but you get used to them really fast. The cameras are not that great but work for the AR stuff that they're meant for and the rear touchpad is pretty pointless now but its fun when you get to use it in small games.

I currently only have Uncharted: GA (which is amazing IMO), Little deviants (which basically shows you all the features on the Vita) which i got with the PSVita bundle, Rayman Origins(Looks amazing! but I hear is the same as the console versions so don't bother getting it if you have it already) and Escape Plan (a pretty fun puzzle game).

If you are planning on getting then probably wait for a price drop that probably happen soon-ish. But I definitely don't regret buying the Vita. I absolutely love it and take it with me almost everywhere I go.

I see no reason to buy it or any other mobile gaming devices now with modern smartphones. I already enough games to keep me occupied for hours when I'm not at a pc.

The motion sensor is garbage, the touch screen too, it just feels annoying to play with those things, I would've preferred a newer, faster and with improved graphics PSP.
