If you win this, I expect to see you put some time into this master-piece!

On a different note and so this topic isn't just a link to a giveaway, what food do you enjoy eating? What's the 'national dish' of your country? What's the weirdest thing you've eaten?

My country doesn't have a 'national dish' but fish & chips seem to be a British thing. My favourite food would be either pizza, fish and chips or a good plate of lasagna. The weirdest thing I've eaten is either raw mince beef steak or shark.

Apparently with the way the site handles markdown, what I had put in the description and was visible in the source code for me doesn't appear for other people.

Edited to fix it. If you've found the number 13, you're on the right track. If you haven't found the number 13 hint, don't bother looking as I've just told you it.

Hopefully it's solvable now.

I enjoy barbecue pork and beef, including hamburgers. I don't think there is one specific "national dish" for any country, just ones associated with them, like 'murricans and hamburgers. Can't remember the weirdest thing I've ever eaten, but from the top of my head I know that souse is definitely up there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Souse

Brawn / Souse is weird. I think I've had brawn (the UK name for it) before and it was a slimey meaty gelatinous 'blob'...

Weirdest thing I've eaten, hmmm, I had a moldy bologna(had to google the spelling) sandwich once. Moldy bologna, mayonnaise, cheese, bread.

weirdest thing i've ever eaten: fermented duck eggs. absolutely disgusting. did it on stage for a band who had said that they saw a food documentary that listed that as the most disgusting food in the world. so they bought some and anybody who ate them got 1 of every piece of merchandise they had (~$50 value) and a pitcher of beer to wash it down with. it was horrible, but i got a lot of free merch and got to drink a pitcher of beer on stage in a bar while underage... so i'd say it was worth it :)

I like sushi the most, the national food is probably the hot dog or something like that, and the weirdest thing I've had is bull's testicles.

I enjoy lots of food but my favourite would probably be sushi or we have this franchise called Noodle Box, their honey soy chicken is aaaawwwwesome. I guess Australia doesn't really have a national food either, but if it did it'd probably be BBQ, or sausage in bread! We have a popular hardware chain here called Bunnings and every weekend they have sausage sizzles at the door, it's a bit of an Aussie tradition, everyone's had a Bunnings sausage sizzle at some point.

The weirdest thing I've eaten has probably been chocolate chicken (chicken cooked in spices, cocoa and probably some other stuff) or one time my partner and I decided to make apricot chicken but he accidentally bought peaches at the shop instead and we made it anyway and had peach chicken... don't go running out to buy peaches, it wasn't that great. I've probably had weirder but I can't remember it.. (once I drank a concoction of mustard, sprite and some other stuff at a party when I was a kid...blech)

My people are a nomadic folk, so traditional foods were what you could take with on camel or such. Closest things are more modern foods like iskudhexkaris. It's rice cooked with goat meat, pot filled with water+stock+seasoning and simmered down kinda like braising but without booze)

Weirdest thing I've ever eaten would have to be a pickle! ^^ Haven't had a chance with more adventurous foods. Lol...

I'm not even sure if it's called weed, I used an online dictionary since no translators want to translate faroese. Anyway, it's the thingamajongs that hide themselves in grass that people who own grass freak out over.

Lived in Scotland for almost a year, they do love their sausage rolls.
Edit: Greggs has nice mini-doughnuts though, like 10 for 55p is not a bad deal at all either.

The problem is that even with the text, it doesn't seem to work. I think you may have gotten it wrong.

I could be on the wrong track though. I can't really say much without giving the whole puzzle away.

I think you may be on the wrong track. Just checked it all myself and still get to my Deus Ex GA.

Add me and discuss what you think you should be doing / where the puzzle may be broken. If you're just doing it wrong, I won't tell you what to do, if the puzzle is broken I'll fix it.

Yep, but only because of the way the site handles [] and (). There was supposed to be another hidden piece in that giveaway. When I checked it on Chrome, I could see the hidden bit, but checked it on IE where I'm not logged into SG and it didn't show.

Apologies.

Ok, the solutions....

What was supposed to happen:

  1. Notice the hidden characters in the SoTMC giveaway description. Spells 'source'.
  2. So look at the page source. Here you should find the http://www.you-may-need-the-number-13.com. This doesn't go anywhere, so use the text instead.
  3. The recipe for the salad would (after a quick Google search) give you the Caesar Salad Wikipedia page (the recipe is copy-pasted from there).
  4. Now connect the 'dots' http://www.you-may-need-the-number-**13**.com + Caesar Salad = ? = Caesar Cipher? = Rot 13 cipher.
  5. Now you need something to rotate by 13 to get the next piece.
  6. The rotated web address for the Deus Ex GA (jjj.fgrnztvsgf.pbz/tvirnjnl/fKB9I/qrhf-rk-uhzna-eribyhgvba) was supposed to be hidden in the SoTMC description source code, same as the 13 hint. However, it didn't show up in Internet Explorer when I checked it later (but did show in Chrome, where I was logged in for Steamgifts...)
  7. Rotating that by 13 gives you the link.

After I'd realised it was broken, I simply put the rotated link in the SoTMC description and left everything else as was and essentially cut out the need to go into the source code with the last hint.
