Its about time to upgrade I say

Benefits of a Thank You button

+removes spam comments on a giveaway
+better potential quality for comments
+reduce forum flaming like "look at your comment ratio to giveaways entered" or "you don't say thank you no need to talk to you anymore"
+Reduces any stress comments may have on a server(its essentially a like button)
+its going to be 2013 why not start it with a bang using new features

Just imagine every single thank you comment removed from steam gifts, would it go faster? would people take the time to write better comments.
WOULD PPL CLICK THE THANK YOU BUTTON THANKING IN LARGER NUMBERS THAN COMMENTS?

Its not a lazy thing, Its an efficient thing.

No! Then addons would probably just have a button that says "enter and thank" rather than "enter and comment", which still requires them to write something at least. It would take much of the sincerity out of the already miniscule "thank you" comments if there was a one-click thanks button.

Hold it for a moment, the opposite can still happen!
Using plugins to enter a giveaway and auto comment saying thank you.
Plugins will always exist for good or evil on both sides of our opinion.

I would still thanking people on the comments. I've been taught to do so.

And just because you consider a gratitude sign spam does not mean that everybody else does. E.g. when I create giveaways I like to be thanked by every single one who enters. It migh be that I need my share of attention, but I like it. Adding a button to do that would make Thanks even more meaningless.

Moreover I don't know why you don't like people who guides themselves through the comment/entered ratio. It is a fairly accurate sign of how active a person is.

I understand exactly what you are saying, the post was presented to be to the point to get the idea across.
i'd say im pretty active anyways :3

Yeah, I'm sure you are active. If you say that you don't spam thanks and you still have quite a bunch of comments. The thing is that for me it's quite sad when I see people with over a thousand entries and no comments whatsoever.

i wanted to add that it would be kool of course for people to still say thanks while having the thank you button. its not going to be confusing or anything. it is being used the same way on undergroundgamer.com no one seems to be bothered by it.

If you won the lottery would you personally thank every single person who purchased a ticket?

Have a look at this

I didn't say that. Nor anything even close. But if I purchased a lottery ticket I would certainly thank the seller. As I do when I go off a bus, when someone opens a door for me or when I buy bread on a supermarket.

To me, it's much more impersonal to just click on a button. I'd rather tell them thank you.

Indeed! All the nice and beautiful avatars saying thank you, isn't that way more heartening than a faceless number at the end of the page?

^ This. After all, if you're getting games for free, you should have some time to spare for writing a small thank you to show your gratitude.

In last giveaway I asked people to not write "thanks" in comments - ofc many of them are too f***** lazy to at least read short description. If they ignore me, how can they be grateful? They don't give a shit, they just want free gamez. There are many users who just copy-paste same sentence to every giveaway they enter or even use scripts for that...

I would love to see new feature, like a button that gives e.g. 1% of giveaway entrance points to the creator. With 10P game and 500 "thanks", gifter would receive 50P to spend on giveaways (max. limit for example 100P). The most important - clicking on that button WOULD NOT increase any damn counter. So only people who are really grateful would press them.
If it's too power consuming for the server, then even simple "thanks" counter would be enough.
