how the give away works?
lets say i want to do a give away and by that i pay for the game with my points or my money?

Let me ask you this: Why would you even consider it a remote possibility that you could buy games with points?

I mean, you get points for doing nothing at all. Who'd pay for those games?

He isn't the first to think that you could buy with points and he obviously didn't knew how to get points. There may be a service like XBLA where you gain MS points in various ways and then buy games with those points.

You buy a game on steam as a gift, and then create a giveaway. When that ends you gift the game to the person who won. You receive only our gratitude in return.

To enter a giveaway to win something you have to spend your points. Points are automatically given to everyone when someone make a giveaway. You DO NOT receive points for giveaways you created.

Man these new users seriously gotta read the FAQ's. http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/91wob/faq-and-guidelines

You BUY the game outside the steamgifts site. That is, you buy the game in Steam.

Then you make a give away here stating that you want to give away the game to the users on this site.

The users then use their 'points' to 'enter' the competition.
