Is it worth it? To get rid of bot accounts

View Results
Yes
No

It would make a feeling that you have actually entered a giveaway with a chance to win something, without the sense of you having miserable chances to at least gain games you really want against the large botnets that use scripts.

I'll just repeat my answer from the previous times this was suggested.

The moment CPTCHAs get implementated is the moment I'll leave SG. I hate those with a passion. Sometimes it takes between 3 and 8 ones to have one accepting my clicks... and I clicked the right tiles for the bike or such / I only clicked on the mountains but it wouldn't get accepted.
SG is a place I like, but it is in no way something I can't go without.

Also IIRC someone (Archi ?) said there are ways for bots to get around / solve CAPTCHAs.

v3 Captcha is almost invisible for most people as far as I know. You only have to solve it manually when google detects something is off.

Bro, you registered 16 hours ago. You are the bot.
"Captcha" isn't a magical fix it all. People just like to overuse buzz words to make shit sound important and helpful.

Nothing would make you feel that you have entered a chance to win something. Nothing will change that. You know why? Cause you don't want a chance, you want a win. Unless you win, you will feel like shit. And that's a you problem.

So engage with the community, do giveaways, maybe someone will add you to whitelist of small group so that you have a better chance of winning. But besides that I consider the excuse of bots in a website like this is just gaslighting yourself to feel better.

The fact that he is new doesn't mean that SG doesn't have bot problem. And huge bot problem to be precise.

A new guy making a topic about bot problem where he only joined 41 giveaways while saying comments like "It would make a feeling that you have actually entered a giveaway with a chance to win something, without the sense of you having miserable chances to at least gain games".
Bro is literally just salty in less than 24 hours that he hasn't won a game. Level 0 giveaways will always have huge amount of entries even if you could wipe out all the bots.
A lot of people don't care socializing that much, they just join giveaways and just do their usual things.

His issue isn't bots. His issue is that he feels miserable cause he has a low chance of winning games at level 0. Cause he doesn't win.
There are 1,189,395 users on this site and 1,013,560 of them are level 0. Tell me even if you claim and remove huge number of level 0 bot account, would it even make a dent on that number of level 0 accounts who just wanna win free shit?

There is virtually nothing and I mean that nothing you can do to make a one guy in among a million people feel like they got a great chance.

Are you a bot user? Because amount of gaslighting in your responses suggest me that you personally felt attacked by this guy.

Look who's talking. Guy complained about bots and you added shitload of assumptions to it. You focus on personal attack instead on the problem he mentioned. And now you call me a weirdo. Guess I am. And what about it? I am a weirdo and we have bot problem in here. These are two separate topics.

Given cg isn't the fastest changing aspects of the site and image recognition algorithms surpassing humans in accuracy by 15% at present any implementation would come too late.

And what about reCAPTCHA v3, I think could be invisible and there are no challenges to solve ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

reCAPTCHA v3 is a pain to implement and kind non-transparent as to its methodology (thanks, Google!). There are easier (from a development standpoint) and less obtrusive (to users) solutions out there. There may already be a CAPTCHA solution here from another vendor and you wouldn't even know it, if it was working right. I doubt it, though. It's time and money I don't think is getting spent on a site like this where we just like to give each other stuff. It would be a waste.

I dont like reCAPTCHA. One discussion server uses reCAPTCHA and sometimes I have big issues with logging there.

I'm entering ~635 GA/month. It's near 21 GA/day.
Normally, I'm spending 20 mins/day for siting here. Adding CAPTCHA will increase this time to 41-62 min/day. It would be near 1 230 - 1860 min/month = 20,5 - 31 hrs/month.

I don't want to waste such amount of time because some ppl's fear of bots. I would rather sleep additional 20,5 - 31 hrs/month

according to most of the comments, the conclusion is that most people don't want to waste time passing the captcha, understandable

yes, because first there were normal text CAPTCHAs , then they changed it to hardly readable CAPTCHAs (that was the point when I started to hate them) and then CAPTCHAs, where you need to select specific objects - one group of objects, 2nd group of objects, 3rd group of objects etc..
It is waste of time, but also waste of time which makes you angry doing stupid tasks again and again.

So people don't want to waste time with captcha and dont want to be annoyed.

CAPTCHAs just give the bots more and people less.

Puzzles are best, but difficulty levels and length of time spent wouldn't be a bad thing to add to the mix :)

Rep won't help you level up. You level up by gifting games that haven't previously been given for free. Please read the FAQ if you haven't already.

That would annoy only fair human users and would get rid only of part of bots, bot farms will just upgrade their scripts as these most likely won't use random autojoin script app from internet.

I don't like captchas and LLMs solve captchas better than me already. It would only prevent bots for a short time so it's not worth it. What needs to be done is banning autojoiners in a regular phase.

If it's for every entry than that would actually favor bot behavior and use of auto-solvers and just make things worse for real users.

I thought it could be useful if it's someone mass entering/leaving giveaways in a couple of seconds, but if it is easy to bypass then it still is probably not worth the time to implement it. If its hard to bypass I think this approach could be useful and also not disruptive to real people.

I would love to have a captcha system where you don't have to do it all the time, but it is on a timer that requires you to do another after a certain amount of time. I talked about it in a few previous threads. Here is one I was able to find.

That's unfortunate. I haven't looked into it or watch the entire video you posted, but maybe there is some kind of captcha system that a bot can't solve yet that isn't too difficult for humans to do. I hate the ones that are nearly impossible to do and you end up having to do a few before you get it to work.

The time for CAPTCHAs are over since the AI learn so fast.

It would be only annoying and time consuming for the humans and a win for the bot/autojoiner users that solve all automatically and don't spend lifetime for it.

There no good solution for bot problem:

  • CPTCHAs: add time and and there are script to solve it
  • Puzzles: Need be creative + need of bump (and add time to create and enter GA)
  • changes for points: can introduce chaos
  • high level GA: cuts people who have in low income from GA
  • groups: person still can use bot, in internet you can`t believe on everything

This guy made an alt to ask this cause he knew asking this on his main would give him a BL fest. You already knew the answer to the question, since you had to go through the effort of not asking this on your main.
